"VG247 has learned that Microsoft intends to release Forza 3 as one of its major 360 titles this holiday.

The game has never been confirmed by the company, although it was heavily involved in the Intellisponse leak fiasco last June.

Intellisponse marketing concepts hinted that the game may feature a Collector’s Edition, DLC, over 100 tracks and 400 cars."

Turn 10 Weekly Pit Pass Report

Quote:
"All this blood and sweat translate into what anyone here at Turn 10 can download to our Xbox 360s on a daily basis -- ever-improving builds of our new game, which, isn't just shaping up to be greedy handfuls of eyecandy, but is also proving to be really fun and addictive as well. In fact, the test team has already thrown down the gauntlet here at Turn 10 with weekly challenges to find out who's the fastest in the studio. Trust me, it's not a challenge to be taken lightly around here and folks have been taking turns stepping up to the task in the team space and setting lap times in the public team space with force feedback wheel in hand. Me? I'm hungry for more eyecandy. Every new build brings delicious new ways to consume the gorgeous assets in the game. Too much of a good thing? Pfft... yeah right.

But we here at Turn 10 also live in dual-realities. On the one hand, we're working hard on our new game. Lots of cool stuff happening behind the scenes and awesome features are getting implemented here and watching the project evolve in real-time before my eyes makes me feel really privileged."

Yeah, I can't imagine playing this game w/out shifting. You should try it out for a while, I doubt you'd go back.

They also added a A class with no collisions, but i think it's for production A class cars only.

I think the newbs have cleared out also and went to MW2 probably, but the racing is 10 times better now and most people drive like they got some sense and don't rear end you on every corner. I suggest actually giving online a try now.
Yeah, I have been in some of the lower C and B class races and it seemed a much improved class of player. Some still were taking advantage of AWD but you see a much broader mix of cars and I also notice quite a few people lock up or spin tires so I assume more people are not running with full assists as well.

I think the punks either went to MW2 or just steer clear of classes that don't have the Veyron or FXX. With out a stand out car to dominate the class I don't think they have any interest.

I also saw the "pro" mode and not a single player was in it. It is nice that T10 offered a playlist with limited assist but the fact they turned off collisions makes no sense. The people who want no assists are not the people who need no collision. If anything, the no collisions should apply to a couple of the rooms with full assist - as those are the idiots that play the game like it was Burnout.

Still, while these made some improvements I am still overall extemely disappointed in the way T10 has approached this new playlist system. Keeping it a secret from everyone until release and then coming with such a limited selection while the community is at its largest when instead they should start with a big selection and weed out the unplayed game types.

I just got a title update when I played this morning. Did some research...

http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/bl...0-studios.aspx

1. aded driver shifting animations (cockpit view)
2. fixes for money glitches (says all known glitches)
3. fixes leadboard errors

Im playing the season mode and i like the game so far. But im not feeling the steering wheel view. Its too low to the ground. It feels like a midget is driving. I checked out some amazing designs online. Its incredible that someone is able to create these from scratch.

# 426 ODogg @ 12/03/09 01:02 PM
You can change your view you know. That was the first thing I did. You have to use that multi-view and then adjust the settings.

# 427 videobastard @ 12/03/09 04:03 PM
^^ Thanks! I did not know you could manually adjust the steering wheel view distance. That helped out a lot.

# 428 ODogg @ 12/03/09 04:21 PM
no prob, i didn't know about it either until i read this thread!

it's great to hear they have shifting animations now, i really missed that coming over from need for speed shift.

I loved forza 2!! And love racing games at all...

But now I have to dicide what kind of console I'm gonna buy.
A PS3 or a XBOX 360.
Any opinions about the differences between forza on xBox 360 and Gran Tourismo on PS3...?
Looking forward to our answers.
Greetings from Germany

Well Forza is actually out, (and has put out 3 editions since the last edition of Gran Turismo). Some of the design decisions made with GT just don't make sense, and Forza has always seemed like more of a sim (for instance, you can't just rubber band your controller and go away for an hour and come back with a million dollars).

I also choose Forza over GT because GT seems to always have at least 3 dozen lancers, 3 dozen skylines, and 3 dozen civics. Forza has a great variety.

Everything is awesome about this game except the credit system. You really should get more money. It's pretty unrealistic for me to come out and win every single race I enter over the span of six years and only finish with about 6-8 million credits.

I can't help but think if somebody did that in the real world they'd have more than enough money to buy a couple Ferrari GTO's.

Some sort of endorsement system in the next game would be cool.

I would not mind higher payouts providing they also had much stiffer penalties for repairing damage and using rewind. The fact you can smash and bash your way to the front and then rewind every time you make a mistake pretty much negates any challenge in earning a prize. I think you should get a big reward if you earned it, raced cleaned and didn't spam the rewind.

A progressive sponsor system would be cool but unlikely given the fact Turn10 really doesn't want the career any more complex than Ridge Racer.

I will also point out that teams from all ranks of motorsports go bankrupt all the time. It is especially hard for smaller teams to make it and even more so if they have a driver who is crashing their car all the time.

# 433 fffffffff9 @ 12/12/09 08:35 AM
That seems fair. It is far too easy and consequence-free to go overboard with rewind...having more of a reward for racing clean would definitely add a better sense of balance to the career mode.

The payouts for winning the upper-class racing events are laughable when you compare that to what the top F1 driver's salaries are: http://www.crash.net/f1/news/154093/..._revealed.html

Would be kind of interesting if playing like crap in the career mode could actually cause you to go bankrupt and force you to start all over. But I don't think that would quite jive with the more accessible direction that Turn 10 has been taking.

the AI gets tougher as you progress in season play. On hard difficulty, it's tough to win every race once you get a ways through season mode.

It's possible to use "a gun in a knife fight" if you load up your car enough which makes it easier. However, If you use stock cars, or very few upgrades, it will become especially difficult on hard difficulty against the AI and more difficult as you go along.

So I've had Forza sitting around for a while and finally got a chance to play

Wow! I'm blown away by this game. The MS wheel is incredibly responsive in this game. Even though I just have my measly Yaris right now and a couple of prize cars, this game is incredibly fun.

Nothing like dropping down a gear and blowing by a competitor, the engine sounds are actually pretty good in this one. Visually the game looks great. The reason I love Forza relative to the competition has always been the AI and it doesn't disappoint- I spun out in my last race right into the path of two other cars- proving that they actually adapt, both cars had to brake hard and both came to a stop without hitting me. Forza 2 really revolutionized the AI in console racing and Forza 3 takes it to a whole new level.

# 436 sportsdude @ 12/15/09 12:34 AM
not that it would make that much of a difference, but each assist that is turned off gives you a credit boost per race, in case anybody didn't know that.

Well if anybody's craving realism, make sure to avoid the highly unrealistic rewind button.

Then you'll lose plenty.

I would probably race that way more often, but right now I am too obsessed with wringing every possible credit out of this game's stingy economy.

Well I got the game today and posts like this are making me want to shell out the money for the wheel after Christmas

That sounds awesome, definatly be sweet with the drifting, and trucks sounds pretty cool. Can't wait to get the game on the break!

Forza Motorsport 3 Title Update Next Week:

A new auto update cometh in time for Christmas. Sometime next week, you’ll be prompted by Xbox LIVE to update your version of Forza 3. Lots of little things on the backend getting tweaked this time, but here are some of the bigger fixes a number of you may care about:

* Adds the new custom Time Trials feature to scoreboards, allowing Turn 10 to set up unique hotlap challenges and leaderboards as we wish. In fact, look for a custom Time Trial featuring the R35 GT-R after the update is live. More info to follow below.

* Patched Time Trials leaderboard holes that allowed players to load tuning files for an advantage.
* Improved AI car shadows and fixed shadow flickering.
* Fixed audio in replay videos with manual shifting.

New Multiplayer Matchmaking Playlists

Our latest matchmaking playlists are live! Changes are listed below. For more information on all the matchmaking playlists, check out our info page here.
