looks good to me. dont know what the fuss is all about. people nic pickin about textures and what not like its a easy job. if its that easy, go there and show them how its done. now as for the cubs uni, i can understand because the logo do look type big, but all this other little stuff...i mean really. besides they are most likely from a early built anyway. we probably wont be getting screens from the final built until february some time so relaaaxxxx and just be thankful that the game even looks this good as of then.

I don't know whether they will or won't this year, but it's very unwise for a catcher to take off his mask for a potential play at the plate. In that regard, he is making the right choice leaving it on.

By the way, this is very small and I don't know if it was in last year's game, but if you look to the far right above the bullpen in this shot:

You see fans hanging about. Again, I don't know if they're just statically placed fans that have been there in last year's game as well, or if this is perhaps an indication of some more walking about, or at least standing room fans. That would be nice to see, especially somewhere like AT&T Park.

and how often does a catcher KNOW there will be a play at the plate?
With the old masks, catchers are taught to take the mask off as soon as the ball is hit, there is no certain way to know if there will be a play at the plate or not.

The new masks are a different story, yet a majority of catchers still throw them off.

I would agree that with a runner on second and two outs, on a ball singled to right, there is a decent chance at somesort of a play at home, but how often is there a collision??

I still stand by my opinion, but I may be wrong. That's how I have coached it for the past six years... that the mask only needs to come off for a ball in the dirt (passed ball included) or to back up a play. I don't know if that's correct, but I've always said that there is nothing but a safety advantage to having your mask on (which is the most important thing for the girls, I suppose).

i can somewhat agree with that. I don't know what level softball you coach, but I have coached at both the college (DIII) and high school baseball levels which neither allow for collisions at the plate. Thus, I have always taught to take the mask off immediately as it serves no purpose for being on after the pitch. But I also have no problem with the teaching of leaving it on for safety's purpose.

but at any level of pro baseball leaving the mask on is nothing but a hindrance.

but sorry about being off topic...I like the screenshots and can't wait!!

I think that's just the paint. The padding has been shown to be blue in every concept pic. If it stays that color...yuk.

SportsConnect Live GameCast

Can someone elaborate on this? I still don't get it how it should work. It seems like when I'm playing my season game I can pause and switch to another one in 2D.....

# 51 Shakedowncapo @ 01/07/09 06:23 AM
No, its for online play.

Say your friend is playing someone online...Well you can watch the base pathes and everything in 2d...But you can also listen to the commentary from his game.

So it would be of interest in an online league? Otherwise I don't see what's worth it.

I made note of this last year and got hammered for it. The colors don't pop nearly enough in night games. I completely agree.

But don't bash the game over 8 screen shots give me a break.
That's a pretty big assumption.........

I did not take it as bashing. I think he made a valid observation. There are some games on the ps3 where the textures are so real it is mind blowing. Then sometimes you see things and you scratch your head and ask how come? Maybe it is done to help with frame rate.

I'm calling it like I see it. The PS3 is terrible @ producing textures in their games. I never said anything against the SCEA Team as I believe they are the best developers in the Baseball Sports Genre. It's the system I was criticizing.

Yes many people can look past such things especially when game play is great. Perfect example. Call of Duty 4. 1 of the Best Shooters ever IMO, but the textures looked horrible. This is not a knock on Infinity Ward again it's a knock on the hardware

Game looks fine.

Remember guys, the 08 screenies didnt do the game justice in any way shape or form.

We'll be drooling when we're playing in HD, rest assured.

Everyone has their own expectations for the game. Some are more valid than others but this series has prided itself on attention to detail and I think if people can point out things, it can bring the game closer to its end goal.

I am not reading anywhere that after 8 screen shots the Show sucks and is unplayable. Too many people here takes these comments as if their mothers were being verbally offended.
