and how often does a catcher KNOW there will be a play at the plate?
With the old masks, catchers are taught to take the mask off as soon as the ball is hit, there is no certain way to know if there will be a play at the plate or not.

The new masks are a different story, yet a majority of catchers still throw them off.

I would agree that with a runner on second and two outs, on a ball singled to right, there is a decent chance at somesort of a play at home, but how often is there a collision??

I still stand by my opinion, but I may be wrong. That's how I have coached it for the past six years... that the mask only needs to come off for a ball in the dirt (passed ball included) or to back up a play. I don't know if that's correct, but I've always said that there is nothing but a safety advantage to having your mask on (which is the most important thing for the girls, I suppose).

i can somewhat agree with that. I don't know what level softball you coach, but I have coached at both the college (DIII) and high school baseball levels which neither allow for collisions at the plate. Thus, I have always taught to take the mask off immediately as it serves no purpose for being on after the pitch. But I also have no problem with the teaching of leaving it on for safety's purpose.

but at any level of pro baseball leaving the mask on is nothing but a hindrance.

but sorry about being off topic...I like the screenshots and can't wait!!

I think that's just the paint. The padding has been shown to be blue in every concept pic. If it stays that color...yuk.

SportsConnect Live GameCast

Can someone elaborate on this? I still don't get it how it should work. It seems like when I'm playing my season game I can pause and switch to another one in 2D.....

No, its for online play.

Say your friend is playing someone online...Well you can watch the base pathes and everything in 2d...But you can also listen to the commentary from his game.

So it would be of interest in an online league? Otherwise I don't see what's worth it.
