Well, I'm back in the saddle with a new Xbox. At least I have an HDMI port and a new cable. Meh.

So..patch! I love it. I just played SA vs. Phoenix on All Star in a quick five minute game. It was a small sample, but everything feels title, and I didn't see one second of BS.

No crazy CPU rebounds

no exorbitant amounts of contested jumpers made,

no AMAAAZZING mmm mmorr moorrrph layups(not that there was zero morphing, just not through defense for a successful bucket)

Realistic FG% 48(them) 52(me)

Weird and broken feeling backdown, as reported

Timmy was still unstoppable, despite the above

Everything just felt more logical. This almost feels like the game they were supposed to release in the first place, and the original one was some weird social experiment

In any event, I'm thrilled with the patch, and this is my favorite sports title since 2k5. For me, it plays a great game of basketball.

Also how can i make the right pl;ay for an ally oop? I have played about 30 total games against the CPU and i have yet to do an Ally oop? I hate when its a 2 on 1 fast break and my teamate stops in the middle of the fast break so i cant throw up the oop.

I'm having non of your problems. Everything you said is wrong with the game is non-existant with my copy. Substitutions are great and fixed with the patch.

I HATE when people say dumb stuff like that. Cause they really believe it

Yea they REALLY overdid the airballs this year. I saw a few in the paint with Prime Time Scorers

I played with the Cavs against the Wizards last night. The game was close the first half, but I ended up winning by 10 or 11 points (All-Star default). I didn't write down any stats, but FG% was abnormally high (I looked at one point in the first half and both of us were 80% or above). Points in the paint still amounted to over 3/4 of their points with their no-name big men putting moves on Ben Wallace and dunking on him. It was a fun game and I'm going to keep play around with it more and see if I can do anything with my in-game defense to get the CPU's offense to adjust but I'm still seeing some original problems.

I do like the new post-up stuff, though. Not every Center and PF is automatic anymore; however, I feel like I can't take advantage of mis-matches down low because backing down on a defender seems to be weakened a bit.

Online I played an exhibition game and watched with Ben Gordon hit hit 8-12 3's on Superstar against a 6'5 Brandon Roy.

I am officially retiring from Superstar. I'm in a league that's on the Hall of Fame level 10 minute quarters. I thought I was playing in the NBA. . I loved it. . I'm surprised so many of you play on the lower levels and then wonder why your shooting 80%. We played down to the wire with both teams shooting less than 50%. That's basketball. If I constantly saw 60% shooting pct I wouldn't play the game. No team shoots at that pct.

how about trying to create a match and even joining the lobby so you can invite friends? i tried last night numerous times and it's a complete mess. i kept getting the couldn't join lobby message and after awhile, the game just freezes. this happened to my 4 friends as well when we all tried. this game is the biggest joke. i like the offline changes but seriously, is this even real at this point?? i don't want to hear anything about, "give them a chance" because the games been out for awhile now. it's not like we're all playing on 56k modems either...

Pro with adjusted shooting sliders won't produce high % games.

I have to agree. It's just amazing how people are having so many varying experiences with the game.

There has to be something the user is doing (that he doesn't realize it) and is causing the CPU AI to act in the way they are describing.

As for alley-oops, they are quite simple to do. You have to throw them with LT+A (DO NOT HOLD TURBO) while your teammate is rolling towards the basket. They have to be moving towards the basket and that's where I've found plenty of success.

Here's an example:
http://community.2ksports.com/commun...m?mediaid=2036

I have not seen an alley to a player who is standing still and open.

Lower your crash boards slider from in-game.

Played one game last night. Can't say I really noticed much change. But I was pretty happy before so I wasn't looking for much. Inside was maybe a little harder.

It was much easier getting to the hole, isomotion seemed easier. Outside shooting seemed harder. But I pretty easily beat the Celtics in my Bulls association, had 11 blocks. And I think we've had maybe 4 total in a game before this. I play on ALL-Star.

Need to play more games to really evaluate.

Yeah... there are lots of little nuances to the game like this that if people don't realize it or figure it out they can get frustrated by the way the CPU plays.

The CPU appears to be programmed to look for the the best shot and if you don't adjust you end up getting run out of the building. Almost like playing someone online who will keep doing the same tactics until you stop them.

It happens here and there and is probably my biggest beef with the AI.

# 278 Pared @ 12/04/08 12:21 PM
A lower level gives the CPU less of an urgency to find the "perfect" shot. On the higher difficulty levels, they will find that shot much more often, as well as contest better, almost to the point where it feels unrealistic IMO.

The game, IMO, plays the best on Pro. This was pre-patch though and I haven't really had the time to check it out much post-patch. Raise your foul sliders (to at least 65 for all of them, some more than others), raise the commit fouls slider slightly, drop Dunks in Traffic to about about 30, drop the CPU's "finish strong" slider about 5 points, raise the CPU defensive awareness and *possibly* lower the shooting sliders down to about 42, 47, 45 (close, med, 3pt) and you should be set.

There are other issues that need to be addressed (like too many perfect passes) but sliders can't really help this year. You end up messing up other aspects of the game.

I'm sure they will get looked at for next year though.

-I can play D, lock on to a defender, swipe air and get called for a foul
-Point blank shots are missed too often
-CPU can back everyone down
I'm one of such users and haven't experienced anything like that

Should I just lower CPU offensive awareness, or lower the level to All-Star or Superstar and raise the CPU defensive awareness?
That really depends on your style and level of play, post patch. Right now I'm finding All Star to be a shade on the easy side, but it's not unrealistic at all. I'm going to test Superstar after I rack up a few more of these achievements I've been ignoring.
