NCAA March Madness 09 News Post

I have been a College Hoops 2K fan since the inception of the series back on my PS2. As a huge fan of college basketball, I always loved how 2K was able to get the little things about the game right. I loved how they would include all the teams, all the fight songs, all the mascots, all the arenas, all the jerseys, and it didn't hurt that the game always played great.

As the years progressed, the 2K engine started showing its age, and I became increasingly bored with the series up until College Hoops 2K8 was released last November. 2K8 was the pinnacle of college hoops gaming -- from the outstanding pregame analysis, to the weekly wrap up shows, to the incredibly deep gameplay mechanics, CH 2K8 was a college basketball fan's dream come true. Needless to say, I was crushed earlier this year when I heard that 2K would no longer be continuing the franchise that had left me wanting more after the release of 2K8.

The review is mindblowing...I hope it is as correct as impressive it is!!! I might give it a shot

I totally agree with the review, both with the positives and the negatives. I have really been enjoying the game without the rosters, but the finished community roster will only add to my fun.

EA has laid the groundwork to finally exploit the monopoly it has in the sports gaming world to its fullest potential, and has raised the standards in such a way that gamers expect features appearing in other EA sports games (online dynasty, roster sharing, LIVE 365 updates, 5-on-5 play, stat tracking and website integration, ESPN on demand, etc.), to become the standard for all future ES sports game releases.

Not believing the faux hype for this unmitigated disaster of a game when compared to the incredible CH 2K8. NBA 2K9 remains my desired choice of bball gaming but when when I need my college fix, I will dust of CH2K8 and enjoy the hell out of it. BTW, anyone find it a highly ironic that 2K Sports is sponsoring a College Basketball early season events called the 2K Sports Classic or some ish yet they gave up on continuing the CHoops series. What gives 2K?

"Faux Hype"? I actually take offense to that comment as the writer of this article.
The game is good, and this is coming from a completely unbiased (if not slightly 2k slanted) person. What possible reason would I have to spend the time writing this article just to generate hype for the game? I'm a harcore hoops gamer and I call them like I see them.

Sure the game has some issues and isn't perfect, but the bottom line is that it is fun and a great game of college basketball.

To each their own, and I hope you enjoy CH2K8. All I know is that after playing this game, and then going back to CH2K8, 2K's offering was almost unplayable- the game has not aged as well as some may think (myself included).

NCAA 09 is a blast.

I was tricked into buying March Madnes for the PS2 a few years back. It was unplayable. Star players when edited got trapped at the bottom of the roster. Sorting stats was impossible and they only gave unique ratings to some players. The whole MSU roster had the same default raings. It was abysmal.

The no multi-team dynasty was a killer and an automatic no buy for me. But I am intirgued possibly enough to spend $5 on a rental down the line. But that offerening 2 years ago left enough vomit in my mouth that I am not sure I can trust this game.

How are the rosters and the stat tracking?

outside the classic ones, the rosters are pretty good to go, only minor adjustments needed. Stat tracking I can't comment on as I havent' started a dynasty yet, but will either tonight or tomorrow.

thank you for sharing your insightful opinion. Good to see that people can still label a game a disaster without having ever played it.

Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah!!! Love 2k!!!Blah, Blah, Blah!!!EA Sucks!!!!Blah,Blah,Blah!!!Time to play with my G.I.Joe's!!!Blah!Blah!!

Thanks for a pointless post. You don't own this game, nor have you played it. But your love for 2k is definitely known in a EA thread. Go away with the bias act, as if you cared in the first place....

Peace...

BTW for all who want to come in here and post things like this!!!! Grow up!!!

This review was good and honest and even as a 2k fan I give EA mad credit this Basketball game is beyond a solid game and it's beyond fun to play, each game will give you a different experience and there is no exceptions.

NCAA Basketball 09 is worth the purchase and won't disappoint even the biggest College Hoops fan!!!

Let me first say that this game NCAA is about 5 years behind... meaning no multiplayer dynasty mode, bad camera views, legend teams= stick figures, the commentary sounds like robots, and the player and ball movement is stiff... March Madness and 09 NCAA Basketball is comparable to regular poo to poo w/ corn. We are suppose to buy a game for 60 bucks that is still way behind from where it should be? I think NOT!!!

Sorry to hear that you disliked the game this much, especially after spending $60 on it.

I will say that the ability to adjust sliders has made the game fun. The demo does it no justice. Once the real schedules are added I will be playing the crap out of this game.

I just wish EA would fix the size of the numbers on the back of the jerseys. They still look too small...

The review is better than the game itself. Seriously, this game is terrible. I forgot how good 2K was until I played this for 10 minutes and then put 2K hoops in. Not even close!!!

countryboy...aka- wanna be EA game tester... get off EA'S ****. The game isn't good and no one in their right mind would dish out 60 bucks, if they've played the 2k series before. The demo puts it all out there...like a fat chick in a bikini...aka-ur mom. But next time you try to defend EA, get your facts straight! EA hasn't been anything since SEGA GENSIS days!!!!

See you in about a month. Sorry your stay was so brief.

What is wrong with people enjoying another product? Everyone admits this game hasn't dethrone 2k, but it plays a very entertaining game of college basketball. People have different preferences about their games. Myself, I enjoyed CH, and I also enjoy this game. What's the problem in that?

Some people just have higher expectations, especially for a company as large as EA. I personally don't think the game is bad. But I understand it's still 2 years behind where the CH series was. It's tough to give a company credit for making a game miles behind their dead competitors game from last year.

We know that EA can make a good game when pushed. Just look at FIFA and even NHL. Some don't want to praise them for mediocrity. They should be blowing our minds in sports games.
