How the hell do you execute dribble moves? Moving the left analog is doing nothing for me.

I was concerned it would be another jaggie texture mess like 2k8 but no, this game looks like a bunch of little NBA players are living in my tv.
the animations, textures, courts, atmosphere, faces and image quality are all improved from 2k8 and the game play... heavenly bro, heavenly
still not as good dynamic lighting as Live 09 but somehow it looks more realistic. I'm guessing it depends on what court you are playing on as well.

Yeah broadcast makes it tougher for sure. But you have to hold RT to get anything happening basically. Those change-hands crossovers from last year on the L-stick are gone. Basically, it's like 2K7 was -- hold RT and do circular motion for spin, half-circle for behind the back, down for step-back, etc. Add LT and it does different moves.
Just an FYI:
PS3 version is typically more compressed. Hence why you guys have to "Install" the demos on PS3 and the smaller file size.

I'll keep this short: I'm blown away. Can't wait to get this on Tuesday. This is so good that I'm not looking for an early copy, because I know it'd ruin my deadline. Ball physics....great job.
I have played 2 demo games with NBA2K9 and the animations are more fluid although I havent seen any new post animations because I really havent tried any post up moves yet...everything is better and I cant even put 2k8 in the XBOX anymore.
I played NBA Live 09 right after it and I can understand where live backers are coming from. The game is improved in many ways and IF the DNA updates really are every single day (I am expecting it to crash quite a few times)then Live could get a large following
Two different games but I am definitely sticking with 2K9 this year but I might purchase Live next year if they showed continued improvement....
in the end, gameplay matters

Well no impressions from me, the Xbox Live Requires a Gold Membership to download the demo, and mine just expired a couple of days ago and dont plan on renewing it for a couple of months.
It says wait a couple of days for the demo to be available to the Silver Members.

I'm loving the Demo, although does someone care to explain the lock-on defense feature to me?
I just got a 360 recently so I was playing 2k7 on the PS2 for a while... Like what does the bar that comes up when I hit lock-on defense mean?
Is lock-on defense (assist-defense, whatever it's called) fully automated or should i still move the control stick around when I have the lock-on defense feature on?
Thanks in advance... As I said before though this demo is sick, I didn't spend much time playing 2k8 but hot damn I can't wait until the 7th...
(Also, I'll look around for an old thread, but can anyone direct me to a link / thread that explains how to do different moves (post and dribbling)?)

Lock on with the L-stick. Depending on how close you are when you lock, you'll see the middle bar on the "web" icon show how close you're playing the man. So if you're up in his grill and lock on, you'll be defending him very tight... if you are playing way off your man and lock, it'll play him loose. Anyway, with the R-stick, you can adjust this, so move it closer to the man if you want to play closer on him and vice-versa. You can also choose to shade him to one side or the other by moving the R-stick to the right or left of the man -- all of this is represented on the "web" icon.

Just played a few games in the demo. I had some nice ally-oops. Kobe over Rondo, Pierce over Kobe... lalala.
I'm playing the 360 demo and the jaggies are still noticeable in comparison to some of the PS3 demo vids/pics I've been seeing. Maybe not as many, but it's still there. It's a demo, yeah, but just pointing it out.
Overall, I'm not blown away like some people. I feel the same way as I did with the 2k8 demo last year. It feels new and I just need to adjust. =p
