"Basketball will be coming to your computers this year. Many of you have already seen that NBA 2K9 will be released on the PC on various sites, and I wanted to confirm that. The extra bit of news, however, is that the game will be a XBOX 360 port. It will be released October 21st in PC gaming stores everywhere."

Actually, that would be sweet. You know, the legal way of downloading it just like EA did with Live PC a couple of years ago. This would save me the hassle of getting it from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

If you don't think there will be a community for this to download updated rosters, jerseys, etc, then you obviously don't know enough about PC gaming in the first place. Be offended/pissed off by that remark all you want but it really isn't hard to figure out that there will be downloads for this game.

Just get the 360 version and be happy with that then. I have no doubts of what I'll be getting.

So does this mean that mulitplayer is limited or that there isn't one at all?
I read that as it doesn't have any online functionality at all. That could actually be their justification for the $20 price tag on a 360 port since there are plenty of people who consider online multiplayer to be half of the game.

Wrong remarks don't offend me. Point is there is no community and there will only be a community for updated things if the game is open enough for editing, and you don't know that it will be. It's been said in this thread already, but there's kind of a big difference between the situation with Live on PC and 2k9. Again I'm not saying there won't be, but you're wrong if you think it's an automatic go.

You build it, they will come. I can guarantee there will be a strong 2k pc community. look at the 2 PC threads already. People want this game.

Madden PC is pretty much a close game (unmodable) and there is still a community at Football Freaks. Not sure why people are getting upset or offended, this is a win-win for everyone. Even better if the code is open for us to mod to heart's desire.

I see NZA, replying to this thread. That dude will figure something out! Not to mention the nba live pc community will blow this game up. I just hope 2k is secure and cool enough to let us mod. The EA Sports team made it easier for us to mod there games, they welcomed the creativity.

When I say "community", I'm talking about a modding community. How is there a modding community if the game is unmoddable (in regard to Madden)? If you're just talking about a regular community like the main board at OS then yeah but that wasn't what I was questioning.

Regardless, there will be a PC community of some capactiy. Bigger if modding is available. I got to say, if you are a creative mind and are somewhat decent at photoshop. Graphic modding is like crack. I spent a many of hours modding the Live series. Everything from putting my friends real face and in game photos in the game in my dynasty to making throwback jerseys no one has ever heard of like the Memphis Tams! ( a real team BTW)I won't even bring up the shoe whore modders or the jersey whore patchers. Good times and a great release of creativity and stress for me during College. I know I'm a nerd.

that's me, a forum buddy, and 2 of my friends all patched for live 04 for my dynasty. LOL!

I don't need online I will probably get both the 360 and the pc.

But I do hope the other gameplay features are in there, I don't see this in the pc description: Shot Stick Advanced - The revolutionary Shot Stick control system takes it one step further, allowing you to change your shots in mid-air.

Everyone has a gamepad these days, if not you can buy a ps2 copy (forgot the name of the manufacturer) for less than 10$ it even has rumble.

Times have changed my son, get you a nice HDTV and connect your pc to it and get a xbox 360 usb wired gamepad to use on your pc and you can make xbox 360 ports to the pc look LOADS better if you got the pc power to raise up AA to 16x and AF to 16x and of course run it at 60fps at an insane resolution..something the consoles cant touch.. although im more of a console gamer..i must stick up for the pc when people say such things..the pc now days with vista and MS's Games For Windows Campaign has REALLY made pc gaming ALOT better these days... no, its still not as good as console gaming on a 360 or ps3 but its better then it has been in the past..thats for sure.

By the way....Crysis on my pc in my living room's HDTV is the best looking game i've ever saw..wow.

Although im sporting a EVGA 9800GX2 1gb vidcard and a QX9650 OC'[email protected] with 4gb DDR 3 ram..connecting my pc to my living room hdtv with my home theater surround sound setup being utilized by my pc is the best thing since sliced bread

I'm happy you're having fun with your PC, that's all the counts. But for me console is the way. Don't want to deal with all those installations, system requirements, upgrading my system etc. Just want to put the game in my console and play. As for your PC, it's amazing now, but in 2 years it'll be an average PC and later on you'll have to upgrdae again in order to play on max. Nothing you can do about it. A console lasts usually 6-7 years while PC lasts 2 years (in order to play on max). If I have a next-gen game I want to play it on max. But again, that's just me.

hmm you dont even need to pay to the max...you can still use the same parts and just upgrade what you need and you should be set

i use PC for FPS, RTS only and this will be my first sports game for the PC since Front page football...

I'll give you a tip: never pay attention to the minimum system requirements. Always consider recommended requirements as the default. For me, upgrading my PC is a waste of money, but everyone has his own opinion. I'm not telling anyone here what they should do, I'm just giving my opinion. I'm happy for guys here who'll be able to enjoy the game on their PC.

youvalss, I hear ya. There was a time when I didn't care what PCs had to offer, the gaming experience just wasn't the same and never could be. Now, I have a gaming PC and consoles, and in a way I still feel the same way. I choose PCs for strategy games and first person shooters, and consoles just seem to play better with sports, racing, and platform games.

However, I don't have my PC hooked up to a big HDTV, so I can't compare there, I also don't have my consoles hooked to a TV, but rather my computer monitor for the resolution. In a way, they've kind of become one machine for me now and I just go between them for what game I'm playing.

I'm totally excited for NBA 2K9. I have it preordered for the PS3, but I think I'll hold off for the PC version. My gut tells me that the playing experience will be better on consoles than PCs (even though my comp is beyond good enough). I've never seen a sports game run on a PC like they do on consoles, so I'm hoping this one will be the first to do that for me.

Anyway, PCs and Consoles are apples and oranges. It's better to have both, but some people prefer the different flavors. I like both and try to keep it that way.
