"Basketball will be coming to your computers this year. Many of you have already seen that NBA 2K9 will be released on the PC on various sites, and I wanted to confirm that. The extra bit of news, however, is that the game will be a XBOX 360 port. It will be released October 21st in PC gaming stores everywhere."

This is freaking awesome! I'll probably buy both pc and 360 versions. Wonderful news.

$20 for a 360 port would be a steal, so I am a little hesitant myself. Hopefully it is true. I assume this will not be out for the Mac, right?

Hmm...wonder if Vista will be required...I refuse to switch.

Well if I had to bet I would say that the only reason that they even display that PC cover pic is because they themselves dont know and is simply going with the safest choice.

Oh HECKY YEAH!! I thought it was shot down earlier this year but the Gamestop site still had it up. I'm amazed that this is even coming to computer. I wonder how in-depth we could mod this sucker. Heck, I'd be interested in getting into the mod scene for this thing. It's a must buy. I've been waiting for 2K something to get on the computer. Now, if we could get a football game on there.......

ehh... I've been really looking forward to playing this game in a week. I'm leery of waiting another two weeks just to find out the pc version isn't as good. Where are the screens? The only confirmation is a post on their forums, their own site for the game doesn't even list the PC version.

The 2ksports admin stated that it's a 360 port, minus some certain features. I wonder what those could be? Probably the 2k insider and online features.

As far as modding and assuming some programmers crack the games files and make utilities we can.....

Edit Rosters and any hidden attributes.
Add new jerseys/shoes/courts/teams/unlimited players
Edit/improve textures
Rearrange/reassign animations
Edit sounds/music/replace Harlan with Marv Albert
Change overlays to look more like an authentic ESPN or TNT broadcast.
Edit the CPU AI.

I could go on.

I'm probably going to get both the 360 and PC versions. $20 is nothing.

Oh you are just mean to tease them

Minus certain features? This is the type of **** that annoys me about 2K. Come the **** out and say what the differences are. What's the point of being cryptic all the damn time?

Interesting....

# 71 RubenDouglas @ 09/29/08 11:41 PM
the best for me is... text based/code based attribute/tendency editing. you go behind the scenes and get that done. in game is such a pain. here its done within minutes

Um, I started the thread pointing out that it was listed there. My post wasn't questioning whether the game was coming on PC, it was pointing out their utter failure in letting people know there's a PC version and what differentiates it from the other releases. Apparently a press release is forthcoming.

# 74 BTB @ 09/29/08 11:58 PM
I wouldnt be surprised if this was a PS2 port and that the 2k admin is wrong... for 20 bucks it just doesnt make sense. But hey, I'll be happy to be wrong

Whats great about a PC version, is here in Australia, I won't have to wait months after the US release to get a 360 copy here.

I'll be able to get a copy when you all do in the US. Awesome.

And I never knew I could use my 360 controller on my PC until just now. That makes it even better!!!

Now for a new video card. my 8600gt won't cut it.

nope. Any video card over 150 bucks today will put you over the 360/PS3 in terms of overall graphics. 200 or over and you can forget about it. Consoles couldn't that video cards jock strap. Not to mention the HUGE amount of Ram compared to the consoles. TExture size can be 3 to 4 times as large.

Get ready for better looking arena player skins who knows.

Yes its a 360 port but that doesnt mean that it is limited to the 360 graphics. It just means its getting the same textures and most of the features of the 360

# 77 Boge @ 09/30/08 12:27 AM
I'll bet the features missing are cooperative play. I don't think I've ever seen a sports game on PC that had cooperative play.

# 78 projectskillz @ 09/30/08 12:40 AM
We shall see not really fair to say that yet cuz we just dont know

# 79 Goffs @ 09/30/08 01:30 AM
YES! dont forget that they will be adding animations for the PC...the possibilities are endless

this is great! i just upgraded my comp with the radeon 4780...so i can be ready for FarCry 2, Fallout 2 and Dawn of War 2...well you get the idea...

a straight 360 port for only $20 is a steal!
