Either way man, people getting over excited like it was unheard of before yesterday is funny... but as I said, im glad they are both doing it, and it all comes down to execution of the feature.

Its something thats only going to take these games forward in the future, so its best for the fans when its said and done.

That's the biggest key, for me as a gamer.

Because this will eventually be duplicated by Baseball, Football, Hockey, Soccer....

It's what I've pushed for in sports games for YEARS.

And you can see how great competition is... one company did it... so the other does it as well.

You don't see this sort of thing in other genre's where there is limited competition.

I am basically excited for the annotated "2K guy" doing all of the sig adjustments - he/she is going to have a lot of people on their back!

For MLB:08 The Show, SCEA did a good job of releasing a patch that finally corrected the batting stances of Ryan Howard and Manny Ramirez - it was well-needed, but I wish they would have released more patches updating stances.

Most of us can edit stances ourselves, but (like last year where there really wasn't a good animation for Dirk) NBA 2K9 will HOPEFULLY do an awesome job of updating stances to our liking....

...they need to have a specific forum (maybe on 2K.com) where we can post our "sig" requests for specifics signature shots/moves that are waaaay off.

I wonder how much these companies know about each other's work BEFORE the news is released.

What stances in NBA 2K9?

So are the new animations going to be added as if it were a patched item? Meaning would those new animations for say, OJ Mayo show up if I have already started my franchise? I hope the answer is yes

We get the news late, but im sure they don't. Im certain that being in that industry, you're able to have things more accessible to you than someone not in that circle.

True...I wonder as well...I'm sure there are "some" guys that play both sides of the coin - it's just human nature.

Plus, dev's always begin preparing for next years game before that year's game has been released (I'm sure they are already at work for 2K10 (the 10 year anniversary edition)....so,

...don't you think Mike Wang and his crew last year already had a template for 2K9 when they were finishing 2K8, so he probably went over to the LIVE crew and said, "hey for 2K9 we were going to do this...and so on"

I can't wait for both games...should be a great year for hoops!!

# 233 DC @ 09/18/08 12:41 PM
Yea so it really isn't fair to say 2K/Live stole from the competition when in actuality they both could have just thought of the same idea.

I think its necessary for sports games to keep them fresh since they get stale so quickly from repetetiveness, and it seems it could save the devs alot of time once the infrastructure is solid and they can just add what they want to it.

It could be a nice roster update or it could be a godsend down the line. Im hoping for the latter.

So what? Now you have a problem with people getting excited? You can't be serious...

Perhaps Beluba/Wang is a spy...

# 237 23 @ 09/18/08 12:49 PM
No, i have no problems with that, and I didnt say excited, i said overexcited.

Smashing it in one game and praising the same exact feature in the other.

Calling it things like " its over" "the greatest" "better than the other" before anyone has even touched it.

Some of the same people were down on 365 saying it was a gimmick is now all of a sudden saying it roxxorz

# 238 DC @ 09/18/08 12:50 PM
I am not speaking about Beluba per-say, but I don't see why he wouldn't talk about what 2K was doing to his partners at his new job. I know I would, unless 2K made him sign a waiver that permits him from speaking about anything 2K related if he were to ever work for EA, which now that I think about probably and should have taken place.

# 239 Tommyklaid @ 09/18/08 12:53 PM
Question...

Now, with all these daily / weekly / monthly updates of attributes, sigs, etc...

If they promise to do so, don't you think this could hurt the sales of forthcoming 2K basketball games?

Meaning, if these updates are as prominent as they say they are going to be, why would I purchase NBA 2K10 next year if I can just keep up with all 2K9's update?

I will, but just asking...

# 240 23 @ 09/18/08 12:54 PM
They have 2 different basketball philosophies though.

The games are different, coding and tools probably are too.

Different engines, people, ideas, and so on

Why even waste your time? EA has enough on its plate with the problems they have, starting with how bad Live 07 was and how to never do it again.
