ESPN has posted their preview of NBA 2K9.

Quote:
"Oh yeah, did I mention the game? Last year, gamers complained about 2K8 being a tad slower than 2K7, so the developers pushed the speed back to 2K7 levels while at the same time adding even more authenticity to the way the players on the court move and react. In previous iterations of the series, there seemed to be a lot of standing around on offense due to the fact that when the user controlled the ball and didn't run the team's play correctly, the game always defaulted to running a quick isolation for the man dribbling. It was basically a robotic response to user stupidity. But these days, even if the gamer doesn't know how to run plays, the CPU teammates finally react intelligently, helping set screens (players like Rasheed will pick and pop), sending the right guy to the post, and running shooters like Ray Allen around picks, giving the game a much more organic feel as the action on the court is no longer scripted."

The only complaint I have is like what was said earlier in the thread,

"The Palace in Detroit's court is a tad off...the "jump-ball circle in the lane needs to be RED...not half red, half blue."

C'mon 2K!!! The stadiums should be a LOCK! (I know you'll get that fixed!!!)

I can't wait for this game...again, another 2K victory!

Word! Dudes must not be familiar with basketball if they think that looks crowded. The spacing looks great 2 me as well as all these new screenshots...

2K9's gonna kill the game!

I'm still missing College Hoops. I'll probably pick up 2K9 when it's under $30, but stick with the two 2K8 games for Franchise play.

LeBron's left eyebrow was a little off. It's slanted up more and about 1/4" longer than it should be.

we all want gameplay vids, but don't tell me you don't care playing with 10 guys who have the same face. Imagine a game with 10 Danny Ainge's...No way!

Lol... Damn fingers and ****!? thats the least of my worries, and I wasn't even aware of the rectangular fingers.. Seems like we got some really aware people out here.

I don't care about fingers, but I have to admit the sharp elbows in 2k8 was ugly to look at. Not a big deal, but it's not that crazy to mention how bad they look.

Fortunately, some NBA players have their fingerprints documented at the police, so we'll be able to compare them to those in NBA 2K9.

Dammmn it guys! You all need 48 hours of intensive NBA 2K6 games on the PS2 to cool off. It worked for me...LOL

2k spoiled some people around here big time. But back to the topic at hand before this thread gets closed too, I wonder if they used the team site layouts from NBA.com? That would be sweet for the current team that your playing with to have their NBA.com home page as the default layout for that team. If not this year then maybe next. For example I'll be playing with the cavs so I wonder will I see the Cavs.com layout if that makes sense to yall.

Well, the Iverson Kobe screen really impresses me... the smoothness and crispness. The jaggies on the other screens just really don't impress me. I'm sure it'll look better on the Sony 1080p... but still. I'm ready to see some gameplay.

What I wish, is that they'd get LBJ's face right. This year is better than last year... but where's my boy's beard at? Where's his 5 head?

But honestly, I'll be there day 1 for purchase... regardless... Because that's what I do.

I could have sworn they promised they were going to have LBJ's "beard" in this year's game....

...if I remember correctly, when people were complaining after 2K8 came out, Simballer (or another 2K rep) confirmed LBJ's beard....hmmm. I hope they're listening!

Stop it with that "i see why they dont show us anything" stuff. That's hogwash.

Do you really think Rob Jones and crew are really worried about that one nitpick?

Now when they had pirate planks for floors and watermelon sized legs, that was different. You won't even see all of that in game nor will you be thinking about it so why even give it any attention?

As far as the shots, I like the look of the players and stuff, although they still seem a tad too big but as I said we'll see.

Can't wait to see how much more sig stuff and new animations that are in the game.

I dont get it either. I think the best Lebron on next gen was 2k7 but last years was terrible, it seems like they just cant get him right so they probably need to have him on a cover before they can get him 100% that way they'll capture his face directly from him.

you could cut glass with those elbows. why can't they take a couple of minutes and just round off the elbows? it looks really bad.

another thing is the modeling of the hands...the hands are still blocky - they look like lego people. look at boozer's hand here (the one reaching for the ball)

that is terrible. his fingers are rectangles. time to improve the player models - not just the faces - round off the fingers and elbows.
you gotta be kidding me.

Well at least it looks like the baskets are alot higher this year compared to the player heights, I cant wait to see the air little Nate Robinson gets when he goes up for a dunk on these!
