i like the demo and will probably buy this and 2k like i always do. i get live for the fun factor, and 2k for the realism. i think live is SLOWLY closing the gap a bit, but the animations, though getting better, still are a bit off at times...

I have been wearing the demo out. I think it is the best looking and the best playing NBA Live in a very long time. For me, '99 and '00 were the best years. 2000 being the better of the two. The game modes, the gameplay, all too much fun. I think that EA Sports it pulling very close to where they were with those two games. The demo is so much fun that I wish it were longer. I am so glad that they have implemented NBA Live 365. A continually updated game?! Hot and cold streaks true to the day?! That's ridiculoulys ingenious! That has always been one of my main gripes with EA Sports, keeping the game updated. The gameplay of '09 is great to me. I think that sometimes we all get a little too nitpicky with things and try to find something that's negative about a game. Wow, no bank shots. Who cares? Wow, jumpers swish in, they don't hit the rim. So what? Put the magnifying glass down. It's one thing to say that the game feels sluggish, it's one thing to say you just don't plain like it, but beyond that? Come on! Anyway, I'm very excited about the game. I have been having entirely too much fun playing just the demo. I will be making sure I have it on release day.

I'm looking forward to the Demo. I have been playing NBA 2k since 2k5, and last year purchased both games but wound up playing 2k8 more. It was just better, and despite the improvemtn live made from 07 to 08 (which wasnt that hard to do, to be honest), I couldnt justify keeping it.

All this time though, Ive been rooting for NBA Live to make a come back.

I'm one of those guys who "grew up" on live..NBA Live 95-2005..I hope the demo plays well, because Im only going to buy 1 hoops game this year.

Hey guys,

I have been very impressed withthis demo. First of all the presentatyion of it IS VERY well done. I definitely play 2k alot and have not bought a Live game since 2005.

But after playing this demo I must say I am very optimistic about Live this year. I really like the pick-and-roll mechanic and it gives you some options that forces the defense to make some decision on how to defend it.

It took me a while to de-program myself from 2k controls but, I ahve done so and there are some definite gems here. The game feels a bit sluggish compared to 2k, and I ma not a fan of how Gasol can block almost everything Garnet does in the post with so little effort.

The thing that Live has that is WAY bettter than 2k is the court spacing. this makes HUGE difference in the game, especially if u are a sim player that runs plays. Screens and Isolation give you alot more room. It also makes double-teaming players better because someone is WIDE open and should be able to get a shot off; but whether you would want totake it with them is another story). One of my pet-peeves against the 2k games is that even though the plays worked...the ration of the size of the court to the player made it so that it is vey easy to cover all the space between the lane and the 3 point line in any direction.

I have been playing this game alot and it looks like I will be buying it. This no way means I am not going to buy 2k though. I am going t oget both.

It's nice to see EA making some stride withthis game. I can already see some features they have included that 2k would be wise to place in their game.

For the 1st time in years, it looks like we are going to have 2 good bball games to play.

Ahhhhh, if we could only say that about football.

It depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking for an online franchise that mimics exactly what happens in the NBA... no, I don't think we'll see that. Your outcomes would conflict with what happened in the NBA.. you wouldn't have trades happening accurately... many problems can arise from this.

Will someone come out with a way to incorporate daily changes and put it in a franchise mode? We're certainly one step closer.

It all just depends on how you handle what the user can do and influence in the game. Would take a lot of thought and planning into the feature, that's for sure.

It's amazing how people get once they actually have to buy their own sh*t. Suddenly they over analyze everything and want ultra realism and near perfection. Back in the days of nintendo and NHL '94 nobody cared because their moms was buying the sh*t for 'em. Funny how when it's your money going down the drain, it matters.

Me personally, I play video games for fun, not for realism. Yeah a touch of realism is nice, but not everything has to be so realistic for me to enjoy a game.I mean first person shooter games are usually far from realistic, but they are still fun.

LOL! I never thought about it that way. I think that that probably does play a lot into what people say about the games they buy. I actually have been buying my own games since the Sega Genesis days and I played them to have fun. I still do now. I enjoy realism, but there's only so much you can do with these games. I mean hell, it's a machine computing a complex series of 1's and 0's. It wasn't too much to ask for the ridiculous things about the game to get changed. (Shots through the backboard, blown dunks and laypus, better fast breaks) Beyond the ridiculous though...

I've got the secret here though. If you want perfect ball physics, rimmed in shots, amazing floor spacing, true to life signature shots and moves, buy some tickets and go to a game. Or get up off of the couch, like I do, grab a ball and hit the gym. It doesn't get any more realistic than that!

I must say that I haven't liked any version of live yet on this gen. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by this demo. Looks to have potential. Animations seem much smoother and the flow seems pretty good. I'm having trouble with the controls because I've been so used to 2k, but I might have to give this game a serious look when it comes out. Did see a couple of instances though were my guys didn't get back on defense and the Lakers had a guy wide open under the basket but just didn't get him the ball. I like a slower paced game, but I hope that teams to run when the opportunity is there.

I just think the players move a little too organic for my taste, especially when you hit turbo. I did see a very nice And-1 animation on a jumper I hit with KB24. Would have loved to see the replay but its not in the demo which is perfectly understandable.

Why is it amazing? My gaming expectations in '08 are not the same as they were in '94. If yours are then more power to you but I would assume that in 14yrs with the technological advances we are fair to demand a little bit more. For the most part this board is comprised of hard core gamers. If not every post on here would be the same, "This game is great" blah blah blah. All of us want to have fun, you can't knock us for wanting it to imitate real life.

As for my impressions. I only played a couple of games and I really struggled with it considering I haven't played Live in years. While I love the playcalling feature, the lack of velocity on passes kills my enjoyment of that as well as on fast breaks. Somehow I ended up shooting a right-handed three with odom and a fade-away left handed three with Kobe. I could have very well hit the layup button but Lamars was a normal jumpshot.

The commentary and presentation were top notch. I did see Rondo dominate the ball a little bit too much but when I slacked off Ray Allen he didn't hesitate to shoot. There is one steal animation that looks sort of like when a big man steps up and hedges on a pick and roll. I really liked that one. Rebounding felt improved but I'm worthless with the QSA right now. I need to practice more in the gym but I'm very curious to see what the atmosphere would be like during the course of the year.

Overall, while I think it's a nice step in the "sim" direction, I couldn't justify a purchase of this solely based on the demo.
