I much prefer the current slow block response over the instant pogo stick reactions the players had last year. Clearly it needs to be tuned a bit, there are times when the defender should be able to jump more quickly. Overall I'm happy with the direction EA is going.

I'm surprised it took this long to get this type of response.

If it is tweaked from the build I played, that's a good thing. Every year people are complaining that it's way too easy to block the CPU, even off of jumpshots.

If this is a semi-solution to that problem, I'm all for it. Maybe they just don't have a happy medium yet.

If anything, the blocks were way too easy.

Don't set an unfair precedence, which is what you are doing with a comment like that. Neither of us have any idea how far along the game was in the build we played (which were almost guaranteed to be different) compared to where the demo is.

Things change daily. Unless we're playing the exact same build, comments like this are off the mark.
I think you misunderstood...

What im saying is, what people are making an issue out of in a demo, you guys never mentioned it which leads me to believe it may not be an issue afterall.

In short, i think you guys played a more recent build and I think those guys are worried about nothing.

Got it.

Unfortunately I don't agree though. I really think this build is newer than the one we played. There were numerous problems with the build I played that weren't worth mentioning, such as graphical mishaps and such.

Either way, I'll be sure to look into it as soon as I get the game.

Just finished playing as the Celtics vs Lakers. I had a blast with the demo. On one play Fisher was covered in lane and he passed it back out didn't force anything. I have been a 2k guy for a long time. Now im not really sure which NBA game i want.

Loved the demo, wasnt a big fan of the dribbling and its animations. It definetly had its moments, there just wasnt enough animations. I also didnt like the pressure defense (forgot what it was called) from player to player. I personally didnt think there was enough animations there either. The biggest improvements I found where the Lay-ups, woah were the amazing. The dunking was good too. Great demo, just hope I didnt see all the animations yet, I killed the demo, I must have played like 20 games already. Big fan this year =)

You argument with this is getting old my friend. Obviously you haven't watched the videos that have been posted in this thread. The HD videos and the others I've posted as well. There have been many backboard, rim rolling shots made in quite a few of them. Don't act like you honestly haven't seen a few already. I've played the demo almost 80 times and I've seen different things over and over again. Including the shots you say that aren't in there. Everything isn't a swish!

I think there will be more shots off the backboard and ones the rattle around the rim in retail version of the game.

I was just looking at some the videos that have been released and their seems to be more of variety in the on how the ball interacts with the rim in those vids.

So I'm going to stay optimistic on things like this.

I haven't seen any backboard shots either. Hopefully the retail is better. Almost every jumpshot is a swish in the demo. Lay ups and shots close to the basket have some variation, but it still nowhere near the "other" game.

Did anyone notice that you can adjust the sliders on the demo? Just go into MY NBA LIVE 09. You can't adjust the period length, but the rest of the sliders you can.

From Beluba;

"Bank shots are contextual (as they are in 2k8 contrary to popular belief)... but to be honest, I didn't spend much time looking into it for jumpshots. Layups should go glass as well in the proper context. The code basically looks at what angle you're attacking from and then chooses whether to bank or not accordingly. It's a pretty simple function but might not work all that well.

The demo isn't the final code, but it's really close. 95%+ I'd say."

I believe he is incorrect for 2k8 LT would allow you to bank em in

That functionality was in 2k7 but removed in 2k8.

The variation of ball-net interaction is a little more than I original thought though. It's still quite minimal IMO though. Although I find the "misses" off of jumpshots bounce far too high off the rim. Looks very "buggy"

Man, I'm still trippin' off your avatar and sig Sage haha. Who woulda thought...

Yeah on jumpers its almost none existent, you are right. On layups and hook shots the board is used, including some nice bounce physics. But on jumpers yeah its usually a swish! My fault!!!

True, but that makes me think the demo is from a build earlier than that of the gameplay used in the vids of pick & roll control etc.. In those vids (check them on ign) you see jumpshots bounce against the rim before they go in...
