I guess i will have 2 bball games this year. I havent played live since 05 (except for the demos) and i feel like i can have some fun with tis game
Things I Like
-Play calling. I love how there are multiple options and how the players excute them.
-Animations. While they are not on 2k level they arent as bad as some make them out to be.
-Quick strike. After i got used to the controls (kept on hitting the left analog to shot lol) i found that its easy to learn.
-Floor Spacing. Seems like the players are more spreaded out.
Things i dont like
-Shot animations. I like Ray allans but some still look weird to me (especially layups)
-2 Shot buttons. Worse idea ever.
I realize its not 2k and i think that allowed me to have more fun with it. Im having trouble with the controls but thats just cause i play choops and 2k so much. Im sure i can re adjust to live. Day one buy for me!

I'm giving Live a shot this year due to the DNA stuff and TP on the cover. I liked the demo. It was too short though. Spent a lot of time in the practice area and the shot meter or whatever is really broken. I couldn't make anything when the ball turned green but I made 10 straight 3s shooting with the layup/dunk button. Also it seems EA got some new pbp from Marv.

Demo is ok. Not feelin' the controls - but could get used to. Guess I am spoiled with 2k's set up. Beautiful game graphically, and it really seems more fluid this year - I still see some stiff animations when transitioning from move to move, plus some of the drives to the basket look really awkward - scripted to a point. Let's see if EA tightens up this stuff before release....

The shoot button is only used for shooting and as you get closer to the basket your player starts to shoot floaters and leaners instead of actual jumpshots if you press the shot button.
While the dunk/layup button allows you to pull off layups and dunks when your in range and shoots regular shots when your out of layup range.

I actually like the 2 button shot setup. It's to prevent the computer from deciding to lay it up when I want it to dunk over some one. I'd rather that the decision rest with me than some percentage formula / success rate table the developers stuck in. This game is gonna be the NHL08 of basketball. EA's big step up to even the playing field after years of 2K dominance. It is good to be a b-ball fan for real.
ive seen it turn green sometimes
as for live big improvement over last years live definitely playable but 2k's game is just too smooth
little demo tip after the 2nd quater buzzard hit start quit game rematch an there you go 3rd and 4th quater

Umm, yeah, you know when you stop the meter in the middle on the shot bar in the practice gym? It's red if you get it not perfect, green if you get it perfect.. there's a basketball in the middle, hence the green ball..

I didn't dance too much in that gym to know what he was talking about. First thing I thought of was NBA'09 on PS3 when I heard green meter.
I haven't tampered with the practice gym enough to know anything about a green meter.

Ah about the practice gym, it's cool. I stood in front of KG for a few seconds and he passed me the ball. The other guys stopped shooting and started dancing.

The 2 button is annoying at times, but imo think it works better the the 1 button just think how many times in 2k have you been under the rim and instead of just doing a lay up or dunk ur player shots the balland misses. You can always change it to one button so I don't no why people are complaing.
Anybody mention how incredible it is to play defense in this game? I really like the automatic lockdown but even better is the automatic double teams and help defense. Unlike in 2k where it was near impossible to double team and the double teams were stiff, in the Live demo, I can just go near Garnett with Fisher and it goes into an automatic double team animation.
Been playing this demo pretty regularly, along with the NHL 09 demo. Have to admit, this game is a definite improvement on Live 08 and a HUGE improvement on any Live before that..but still can't touch NBA 2K7. But next year? I could see them pulling even closer, if they keep improving at this rate. And in two years, when they're the only basketball game on the market, losing the 2K series will be slightly easier to take lol.
In all seriousness, aside from some minor to major clipping/animation speed issues, still poor rebounding (too many guys still watching the ball) and piss poor rim physics, this game is pretty damn good.
Love the playcalling, DNA system and the potential of this game with some slider adjustments. It won't replace NBA 2K9, but it will be nice to play this game along with it every now and then.
