Madden 09 Quick Patch #2 Update From EA

I'm back now and wanted to relay some news - we found and fixed the Franchise freezing issue that some have been seeing and decided to delay the patch a couple of days in order to get that in. Major thanks to this community ...a few folks here on OperationSports actually emailed me PS3 Franchise files which allowed us to track the issue down much more quickly. You guys rock - as always!

The patch is now at our internal quality control group, and then on to Sony and Microsoft by (we think) Friday.

We are still targeting about 2-3 weeks from now for the patch to drop, and of course I will keep you updated as things progress.

its still in the testing process at MS/Sony. They are hoping that they get the ok to make the patch "live" on both consoles. If MS/Sony find any issues, then its another couple of weeks.

And EA has to wait for MS/Sony to tell them when they are going to put the patch on their servers. Once EA gets the date of availability, they'll pass it along.

Im anxious to see what people think of the game post patch. Seemed to be rated pretty high before patch, cant imagine after patch

I am so freaking ready to see if this damn patch is going to work. I have a brand new, unblemished Madden 09' along with a PS3 not even 2 months old, and yet I can't make it 3 consecutive games in franchise mode without the SOB freezing up in the middle of a game. Pisses me the F off.

This better work.

Silver membership is fine for patches. As long as you are connected and online, you will be prompted for the patch install when it goes live.

I used to be in the video game/computer business back in the 90s. When I was in it the majority of people were overworked and underpaid. I would guess they are working a ton right now. I bet its even worse than when I was in it due to the higher complexity of the systems, multiple platforms, bureaucracy, etc. QA seems much worse now from my distant vantage point and also from what my friends in the business have told me. This unfortunately for us, leads to a lot of bugs, and we the gamers have to wait. At least they can patch these things online now

I haven't checked in here for a while, and thought for sure the patch would be out by now

Wonder when/if the DLC will be out? Oh well, back to NCAA 09, MLB 08, and I just got a free rental for NHL 2K9 so those should keep me busy.

my game has never froze at all,but then agian i have a PS3, xbox360 i got 1 of those to, games freeze from time to time,in my oppinion PS 3 is a more durable,quiet,and more powerful system.........nasa

Yeah I heard EA was like that. Ohh well I guess I'll just keep playing N+, Castle Crashers, Forza 2 and F.E.A.R until then.

I have a ps3 also. It just start freezing on me in my 2nd Franchise year. Did you buy your copy on the first day?

Not saying its not an issue for some, just not for me. I've not had a freeze in over 50 played games, many in my franchise. I play on the 360. Just lucky I guess.

Not really..its been stated a zillion times by developers that Xenos is a better graphics processor then the RSX and Sony's CELL is only better then 360's triple core 3.2ghz 64bit cpu's in raw FLOPS and a few other things.. thats it.. there for as John Carmack himself stated..the 360 has a more powerful GPU..there for has more power (overall) in performance output for videogames .. simply put, the cpu's in both systems are about equal in realistic world performance (when developing to the metal) but the graphic's chip's..hands down 360 owns the ps3....pm ian, im sure he could vouch on that. Im not saying the 360 blows the ps3 out of the water..no thats not what im saying..im saying this myth that the ps3 is more powerful then the 360 simply isnt true..infact its the other way around, really, it is.

Look im no fanboy of any system.. but what erks the hell out of me is ignorant fanboys and i dont mean ignorant in a BAD WAY..but your another one of these sony fanboys that are fooled by your lack of knowledge of whats inside these consoles and by Sony's PR BS. The only thing the ps3 has over the 360 right now is one thing..its bluray drive and that dont do much for visuals and raw power.
