Madden 09 News Post

I'm back now and wanted to relay some news - we found and fixed the Franchise freezing issue that some have been seeing and decided to delay the patch a couple of days in order to get that in. Major thanks to this community ...a few folks here on OperationSports actually emailed me PS3 Franchise files which allowed us to track the issue down much more quickly. You guys rock - as always!

The patch is now at our internal quality control group, and then on to Sony and Microsoft by (we think) Friday.

We are still targeting about 2-3 weeks from now for the patch to drop, and of course I will keep you updated as things progress.

Ian

VERY obvious...but then again my biggest gripe was the computer sliders and once I had access to those in the second patch I was able to make the game everything i wanted it to be. My impressions might be a little clouded simply because I was so excited to get the working sliders.

The 2nd patch will be avaliable for the PS3 too right?

IMO, working CPU sliders was a huge part of Patch #2 for NCAA 09. Unfortunately, Madden will not have working CPU sliders until/unless the DLC arrives. I'm hoping they made some tweaks to improve CPU gameplay with Patch #2 for Madden, but the DLC is really what will make this game better (at least when playing against the CPU).

I'm not sure what the hell ''wickidly wack'' even means, but if it's anything like lame, boring, and easy as hell - It best describes Madden 09. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get the CPU to score on me. They get like 25 yards rushing per game. I never thought I'd say this, especially after the release, but I'm enjoying NCAA way more than Madden. Maybe the patch and possible DLC can save this thing, the way it did with NCAA - If not, I'd use the term ''piece of trash'' over ''wickidly wack.''

So they added CPU sliders in the 2nd NCAA patch but not for Madden? Why?

They didn't add them, they fixed them. They are not present at all for Madden 09 and I believe that's why they are looking into DLC...space issues, as I recall.

I think it was an issue of appealing more to casual gamers. Mom and Dad wouldn't know what to do with all of those extra options.

It was a space issue, but it was based on how large the patch was, not in-game options. I'm sure they could've fit sliders on the 360 disc.

I think it was Phil that said that Microsoft has a limit on how big a patch can be, and including sliders (and everything else scheduled for DLC) would be over that limit. Sony may or may not have a limit, we don't know; and Phil didn't say.

EDIT: It was Phil, and he said he is unaware of any file size restrictions on the PS3.

True...but I think it's the patch size that's the issue. The patch can only be a certain size or something.

So is the 2nd patch gonna cost money? And if the DCL comes out will that cost money too?

# 217 Hunsy34 @ 09/13/08 06:21 AM
As far as I know once a franchise is started no updates will affect it but I cant say for sure, I have never really dealt with patches. I know I am waiting for the 2nd patch and the DCL I love accelerator clock I usually do custom sliders to make is challenging and realistic and I need X has my sprint, just is not the same!

As a side note, as of this moment there have been no changes to database schema, so you won't have to re-start your Franchise or delete any files.

Thanks guys - keep the feedback coming!

In Madden 2007 & 2008 the patches worked with pre-existing Franchises, and according to Ian that is the case with this next patch for Madden 2009. Just to be on the safe side though, I deleted my Franchise once I found out all of the problems and will not start another until the patch.

Yo Ian has the patch list grown for patch #2, I mean I know you can only do so much but we have a long time before the next madden is out, that is a long time. Can you relist what the patch consist of if the list has grown?

# 220 Hunsy34 @ 09/13/08 10:42 PM
Does that mean there will be no DCL?
