Gamespot has posted their first look at NBA 2K9.

Quote:
"The first thing that was apparent from the clip (and, to a lesser extent, the gameplay demonstration) was that signature player motions don’t just stop at shooting this year. Player-specific celebrations and motions will also make their appearance in NBA 2K9. From Kevin Garnett’s chest pump following a 3-point opportunity to Ray Allen’s unique windmill teardrop, 2K9 does a good job of making the motions identifiable to the player. This even includes more subtle motions such as Derek Fisher’s movement coming off a low screen or Kobe Bryant’s no-look pass."

its one crappy photo, but from that alone, the paint looks too dark. 2k8 was perfect for once. did they revert back to the darker pre 2k8 colors?

real life:

2k8:

-given its a more high quality shot. but FOCUS on the backboard support foam. Thats our reference color. the court and outer part of the court are lighter than that dark foam padding.

bottomline, looking at that reference point in the 2k9 clip, its easy for me to see the darker green.

now the 2k9 shot:

-The backboard support foam is about the same shade or LIGHTER than the dark paint color.

whats up with that? true, they are just colors, but its 2008 where reference shots are easy to come by. ID do the work for free. let me check that stuff out. last years grizzlies paint color was a royal blue. one mouse click and its the designated navy blue.

LOL I said it last year because it was true last year.

Like Mo said. It's nothing to discuss. We have no info. We have no CERTIFIED pics/vids. So what is to discuss.

I'm the one stirring up crap? Because I called yall out for dissecting ONE damn picture? LOL You got it

Wally, all those pics show me in particular is that the players still look too big for the court.

The size proportions seems so unfinished.

# 69 Behindshadows @ 07/16/08 04:17 PM
The second picture of 2k9 positives:

Jersey cloth looks better and more detail to the shoes. Other than that, still not diggin the legs.

But wait til we get better photos.

Yeah I agree, and that causes gameplay problems. Too many passes being deflected, not being able to drive because its too cluttered, very, very few open shots, etc.

better to say something than to let it slide through the cracks again, thats my only intention with why i bring stuff now. a Developer or artist may see my post and make it a point for that correction. simple quick and easy execution.

i do agree its too early to tell with one photo if its actually wrong. but its one still shot. what are we to do with it?

Its still too soon for that man, they wont give us the final look of the players pics right now

Wally is a stickler for the colors, and i see guys in the CH2k forums do it all the time, while no one there is called out for it and jSapida responds very graciously and tries to get it done, as im sure they work hard on that

Im not picking on the colors as much as Wally, but its his thing. I got laughed at for mentioning the pirate planks and the watermelon seed legs, but they worked on that, and it satisfied alot of people.... ALOT

Stop taking every comment personal and we'll be okay, but its the people who come in and act like each piece of info is a drug that brings the discussion down, OH LOOK AT THAT PIC ITS AWESOME.... well it sucks cuz that guy in the nosebleeds has on a fake gold chain, I can tell from this screen.

Other than that, people are hungry for info so they're going to analyze anything they can get.

That's called spacing, and its been an issue for a few years now.

# 74 Shakedowncapo @ 07/16/08 04:30 PM
The spacing issue has been talked about for 2.5 years...I really hope they didn't ignore it and try to mask it with better playcalling execution.

Yes, sir, I know what its called. I was giving the meaning of the word.

Anywho, with 80 people in this forum, you'd think they released a 5 minutes vid of CPU v CPU gameplay.

Nope, just a screen shot with very poor resolution. Crazy the amount of hype.

# 76 23 @ 07/16/08 04:34 PM
LOL, that wasnt even a 2K thing, it was some blog or something

There are fans of this series here who wait for info, finally get a little bit and its from an old build so the excitement dies, then picks back up for a day with each piece of info, then down then up, you get the picture...

I understood what you were saying though, and yes hopefully they address the entire thing, new engine, player models, spacing... all of that

2k8's spacing was much better than 2k7's. If anything there was a lack of passes tipped.

# 78 DC @ 07/16/08 04:43 PM
I don't see why any of us 2K vets are complaining about the lack of info as if this is anything new

While true, and while i acknowledged that in an earlier post already, its still not without its issues.

As far as complaints, i've only seen Wally voice his opinion really and its on the same things he always point out...

Please don't turn this thread into what people can and cannot say about 2k.

In the scheme of things, who gives a cats behind?
