4/28/13-Bobcats release Taylor, Weaver
CHARLOTTE-One day after acquiring point guard A.J. Price from the Wizards to kick off their offseason roster changes, the Charlotte Bobcats continued their overhaul Sunday, cutting small forward Jeff Taylor and shooting guard Kyle Weaver.
Taylor, a rookie out of Vanderbilt and Charlotte's second round pick in 2012, played in all 82 games for the Bobcats, averaging 2.8 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.
Weaver, on the other hand, didn't play for the Bobcats at all in 2012-13. It wasn't injury that kept the 27-year-old Washington State product out though–Charlotte listed him as inactive for all 82 games this season.
According to a front office source, Charlotte isn’t done making moves yet this offseason. The team is engaged in talks to deal both Bismack Biyombo and Hakim Warrick in separate deals, and is looking for a suitor for Ben Gordon to open a path for Gerald Henderson–recently signed to a long-term extension–to take on the starting shooting guard spot.

4/28/13-Wizards send Walker to Grizzlies, sign Haddadi
WASHINGTON-Just days after sending point guard A.J. Price to the Charlotte Bobcats for Orien Greene, the Washington Wizards again made a trade to shake up their bench, sending small forward Bill Walker to the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday to clear a spot to sign free agent center Hamed Haddadi.
Washington again chose to add veteran depth to a young team that missed the playoffs by one game in their transactions Sunday, choosing to send Walker to Memphis for small forward Rodney Carney, who was immediately waived. Washington then signed Haddadi to a two-year veteran's minimum contract with their open roster spot.
Walker, in the first year of a three-year contract, averaged 2.5 points in 52 games with the Wizards this season. Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins said Walker would be starter Rudy Gay's backup next season.
Carney averaged 2.6 points in 68 games in the same role.
Haddadi played the entire regular season in the NBA D-League. The 27-year-old Iranian national played the entire season for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, averaging 12.1 points and 10.7 rebounds in 50 games.
Walker wasn't expected to return to the Wizards next season, with Trevor Ariza entrenched as the team's starter and Chris Singleton, who head coach Randy Wittman announced would switch to small forward, projected to be his top backup.
Singleton's switch to small forward was part of a trio of positional changes by the Wizards last week. In addition to his switch, the team announced that Walker would move to small forward from shooting guard and Kevin Seraphin to power forward from center.
Small forward Cartier Martin, fourth on the depth chart behind Ariza, Singleton, and Martell Webster, is expected to follow Walker out the door, a Wizards front office source said.

4/27/13-Wizards ship Price to Bobcats for Greene
WASHINGTON-Looking to add a veteran to their stable of point guards, the Washington Wizards swapped third-string point guard A.J. Price to the Charlotte Bobcats for point guard Orien Greene.
Greene and Price-with contracts set to expire at the end of the season-both signed one-year contract extensions after the trade was completed.
Price played just 12 games for the Wizards this season, finding short minutes stuck behind John Wall and backup Delonte West. Price averaged three points a game in those 12 contests.
Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld said Price requested a trade to see more playing time, but Price will be the third-choice point guard for the Bobcats as well, behind Kemba Walker and Ramon Sessions.
Greene appeared in just 19 games for the Bobcats this season, averaging just 4.3 minutes in the games he did play in. The 31-year-old veteran has appeared in just 29 NBA games total over the last three years.

4/27/13-Trail Blazers begin roster overhaul, send Hickson to Magic in three-team trade
PORTLAND-If there was any doubt Portland was going to draft a center in the upcoming draft, Saturday's trade all but erased those doubts.
The Trail Blazers seemingly confirmed the rumors that the team would draft a center in the upcoming draft when they shipped center J.J. Hickson to the Orlando Magic for three players and a draft pick in a three-team trade Saturday.
Portland sent Hickson, point guard Ronnie Price, and small forward Luke Babbitt to the Magic for point guard Sebastian Telfair, small forward Linas Kleiza, center Hassan Whiteside, and a 2013 second round draft pick.
In a related move, Portland sent center DeSagana Diop to the Phoenix Suns for center Kyrylo Fesenko. Portland then waived both Fesenko and Whiteside and signed veteran center D.J. Mbenga, leaving an open roster spot for Portland's future draft pick.
Orlando also waived a player acquired in the trade in Price, choosing to sign shooting guard Donald Sloan over retaining Price.
Hickson, acquired by the Trail Blazers off waivers in March 2012, averaged 13 points and 9.5 rebounds in 81 games for Portland this season. According to Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, Hickson-on a one-year deal with Portland-will sign a two-year contract extension with Orlando on Monday.
Price averaged just 3.2 points and 3.1 assists in 79 games for Portland this season as the third-choice point guard behind Damian Lillard and Nolan Smith. Price would've been the fourth-string point guard on the Magic, behind Jameer Nelson, Ish Smith, and Darius Johnson-Odom had the team kept him.
Babbitt averaged 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 80 games for the Trail Blazers. Orlando, rumored to be targeting UCLA small forward Shabazz Muhammad or Georgetown small forward Otto Porter, is not expected to retain Babbitt for next season.
Telfair, Portland's first round pick in 2004, was acquired by the Magic from the Suns in late March as part of deal for Hedo Turkoglu. In 82 games between the Suns and Magic, Telfair averaged 3.7 points and 1.5 assists per game.
Portland is not expected to retain Telfair; a Trail Blazers front office source reported that the team is interested in drafting North Carolina State's Lorenzo Brown or Detroit Mercy's Ray McCallum with one of their second round picks.
Orlando acquired Kleiza, Portland's first round pick in 2005, in the trade that sent Al Harrington to Toronto. In 73 games between both teams, Kleiza averaged 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds. A Trail Blazers front office source said the team was still undecided on whether or not to retain Kleiza.
Whiteside, who didn't appear in a game this season, was acquired by the Magic in a swap with the Hornets involving Kyle O'Quinn.
Diop was acquired by the Trail Blazers in late March from the Bobcats for Jared Jeffries, averaging less than a point and 1.6 rebounds per game in 51 games between both teams.
Fesenko played in just five games for the Suns all season, averaging 2.2 points and one rebound in those games.
Mbenga played the entire season for the D-League's Reno Bighorns, averaging 14.8 points and 12.6 rebounds in 50 games with Reno. Trail Blazers general manager Neil Olshey said the team brought Mbenga aboard to mentor Portland's young center Meyers Leonard and their future draft choice.
Portland is rumored to be targeting one of three centers with their top pick: Alex Len of Maryland, Isaiah Austin of Baylor, and Kelly Olynyk of Gonzaga, with Len as their top choice.
Sloan, like Mbenga, played the entire season in the D-League. In 50 games for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Texas A&M product averaged 22.1 points and 7.4 assists per game.

4/26/13-Timberwolves overcome turnovers, rally late against Mavericks
MINNEAPOLIS-Minnesota head coach Rick Adelman told reporters after his team's 98-91 win that for the first three quarters, it was the worst he'd seen one of his teams play "in 30 years."
"That game was the worst I've seen my team play since my days coaching junior college ball," he said. "That goes back, oh, about 35 years now? That is, until that fourth quarter. That was a work of beauty."
Minnesota turned the ball over 17 times in the first three quarters of Game 4, but the Timberwolves frontcourt kept Dallas from opening a huge margin; despite all the turnovers, Dallas held only a 72-67 lead.
That all added up into a huge fourth quarter rally by the Timberwolves. Minnesota opened the quarter on a 12-0 run and outscored the Mavericks 31-19 in the quarter. To top it all off, Minnesota didn't turn the ball over once during the quarter.
Both teams had all five starters score in double figures. Nikola Pekovic led the Timberwolves with 20 points and five rebounds, while Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 16 points.
Two Timberwolves starters finished the game with double-doubles. Kevin Love scored 17 points and collected 13 rebounds, and Ricky Rubio scored 13 points and tallied 15 assists.
The other two starters, Brandon Roy and Andrei Kirilenko, scored 12 points and 11 points, respectively. Alexey Shved also scored 10 points off the bench for the Timberwolves.
Behind Nowitzki, Vince Carter finished with 15 points, and Darren Collison scored 14 points and tallied eight assists. O.J. Mayo scored 13 points, tallied eight assists, and collected six rebounds. Shawn Marion was the last Mavericks starter to score in double figures, scoring 10 points.

SALT LAKE CITY-Grant Hill scored 12 points to pace a potent Clippers bench that outscored Utah's bench 45-16 en route to an easy 90-74 win over the Jazz in Game 4 of their series.
All seven of Los Angeles's bench players scored in the rout, led by Hill's 12 and Matt Barnes's 11 points. Hill and Barnes were responsible for 16 of the 26 points scored by bench players in the third quarter.
The duo scored the first eight points of the quarter, which head coach Vinny Del Negro said gave him the confidence to keep the bench players in for most of the third quarter.
Chris Paul led the Clippers with 13 points and seven assists. DeAndre Jordan was the only other Clippers starter in double figures, his first double-digit scoring game of the series. Jordan had 10 points in the win.

SACRAMENTO-Out of all of the players on Oklahoma City's superstar-laden team, it was a little-used backup that ensured the Thunder a first-round sweep of the Sacramento Kings in the NBA playoffs.
Reggie Jackson, Oklahoma's third-string point guard, led the Thunder during a key second half stretch that helped Oklahoma City seize the lead and the series in a 107-100 win over the Kings in Game 4.
Jackson-whose name, along with fellow backup Eric Maynor, has appeared in trade rumors all season long-scored 10 points during a key six minute stretch between the third and fourth quarter that helped Oklahoma erase a seven point deficit and take a four point lead with five minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Jackson had averaged just 4.1 points a game in the regular season and hadn't scored in double figures since late March.
Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 23 points, one of three Thunder starters that scored in double figures. Kevin Martin and Russell Westbrook each scored 10 points, with Westbrook adding in seven assists.
In addition to Jackson, Oklahoma City had two other bench players score in double figures. Jeremy Lamb led all bench players with 14 points, while Perry Jones chipped in 10 points of his own.
Game 4 was Oklahoma City's first game with the full starting lineup available; Kendrick Perkins had missed the first three games of the series with a bruised foot.
Thomas Robinson led the Kings with 23 points and nine rebounds, one of four starters in double figures for the Kings; Marcus Thornton scored 21 points and Tyreke Evans scored 11 points, while Aaron Brooks tallied a double-double with 12 points and 12 assists.
In addition, Jason Thompson finished with a double-double off the bench, collecting 10 points and 10 rebounds in the game.
Oklahoma City will face the winner of the Mavericks-Timberwolves series in the Western Conference Semifinals. Dallas currently leads the first-round series 2-1.
