Quincy Acy
PHOENIX-After being trade twice over the course of his rookie season, forward Quincy Acy finally found himself without a home Thursday, as the Suns cut him and teammate Adam Morrison as part of their offseason overhaul.
Acy first went to the Orlando Magic from the Toronto Raptors in a January trade that sent Al Harrington to Canada. Two months later, the rookie from Baylor found himself on the move again, heading to Phoenix as part of the package that brought Hedo Turkoglu to the Suns.
In 18 games split across the three teams, Acy averaged 1.3 points per game. Toronto drafted Acy with the seventh pick in the second round of the 2012 draft.
While Acy had the fortune (or misfortune) to play for three NBA teams this season, Morrison didn't play for the Suns at all in 2012-13. The former third-overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft averaged just a point in 31 games for the Lakers during the 2009-10 NBA season, his last NBA action.

5/2/13-Kings swap Roberts for center Collins
Jason Collins
SACRAMENTO-Needing to replace lost depth after sending Jason Thompson to San Antonio a few days prior, the Sacramento Kings swung a quick trade Thursday for one of the NBA's most veteran centers, sending rookie point guard Brian Roberts to the Boston Celtics for center Jason Collins.
Sacramento is expected to target a center in the 2013 NBA Draft to be DeMarcus Cousins' backup, but the Kings were interested in bringing in a veteran to help mentor their young frontcourt, according to Kings general manager Geoff Petrie.
Collins certainly fits that role; no longer a regular starter, the 12-year veteran has mentored Fab Melo, Al Horford, and Kevin Love in each of his last three stops. Collins played just two games for the Celtics in 2012-13, a back-to-back road set in mid-December against the Rockets and Spurs.
Roberts, a 27-year-old undrafted free agent from Dayton, made his NBA debut in December, playing in 28 games for the Kings in 2012-13. He averaged 1.1 points and 1.1 assists per game as the third-string point guard behind Aaron Brooks and Isaiah Thomas.
Boston, with point guards Rajon Rondo, Leandro Barbosa and Daniel Gibson on the roster, waived Roberts in anticipation of the draft. The Celtics, who finished the season at 29-53, are guaranteed to receive one of the top four picks in this year's draft lottery.

MINNEAPOLIS-Down 2-1 in the series after three games, the Minnesota Timberwolves used a 30-13 third quarter to cap a three-game comeback and cruise to a series-clinching 101-93 win over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 6 Wednesday night.
Down 51-48 at halftime, the Timberwolves opened the quarter on a 12-0 run and never trailed thereafter. Andrei Kirilenko led the Timberwolves with 15 points in the win.
Two Timberwolves starters finished the game with double-doubles. Nikola Pekovic scored 12 points and collected 11 rebounds, while Ricky Rubio scored 12 points and tallied 10 assists.
Kevin Love scored 11 points and collected six rebounds for Minnesota, who had all five starters score in double figures. Brandon Roy was the fifth starter in double figures with 10 points.
O.J. Mayo led the Mavericks with 23 points and five rebounds. Darren Collison had a double-double for the Mavericks, tallying 20 points and 14 assists. Vince Carter also scored 15 points for the Mavericks.
The Timberwolves will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals. Oklahoma City swept the Sacramento Kings in their first-round series.

5/1/13-Lakers cut three just days after playoff ouster
Darius Morris
LOS ANGELES-Four days after the Denver Nuggets bounced them from the NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers began their offseason with a series of cuts, releasing three of their second round draft picks from the last three years.
Point guard Darius Morris, small forward Devin Ebanks, and center Robert Sacre were the three players cut by the Lakers Wednesday as the team clears space on its bench for new acquisitions.
Ebanks, Los Angeles's 2010 second round pick out of West Virginia, averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in 27 games for the Lakers in 2012-13. Los Angeles chose to cut Ebanks rather than offer him an extension to his rookie contract. In 71 career games for the Lakers, Ebanks averaged 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds.
Like Ebanks, Los Angeles chose to let Morris's rookie contract expire. One of the Lakers' 2011 second round picks, the Michigan product played in all 82 of Los Angeles's games in 2012-13, averaging 1.5 points and 1.0 assists. He also appeared in all five of the Lakers' playoff games, scoring five points in their Game 3 win over Denver. In 101 career games for the Lakers, Morris averaged 1.7 points and 1.0 assists.
Sacre, Los Angeles's second round pick in 2012, only played in two games, both in December. The last pick of the 2012 draft out of Gonzaga, Sacre was signed to a one-year deal before the season by the Lakers, who chose not to offer him an extension.

Richard Jefferson
OAKLAND-Golden State continued their roster makeover with a swap of veteran small forwards Wednesday, sending Richard Jefferson to the New Orleans Hornets for Maurice Evans.
Jefferson marks the fifth player Golden State has dealt since the end of the regular season. Golden State had already dealt Jarrett Jack, Brandon Rush, Charles Jenkins and new acquisition Jason Maxiell in earlier trades.
Jefferson averaged 9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 62 games with the Warriors in 2012-13. The veteran forward is still a productive player, but he has fallen a long way since his days as a linchpin of the New Jersey Nets' offense. Golden State acquired him from the San Antonio Spurs in March 2012 in a swap for Stephen Jackson.
The Hornets already have a pure scorer in fellow Nets first round pick Ryan Anderson, so Jefferson will fit into their organization nicely as a needed do-everything forward. Jefferson will also be able to serve as a valuable mentor for Anderson, Al-Farouq Aminu and Xavier Henry, all of whom saw extended minutes at small forward for the Hornets in 2012-13.
Jefferson signed a two-year, $10 million extension with the Hornets after the trade was accepted.
Evans, an undrafted veteran from Texas, averaged 8.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 82 games for the Hornets, his best averages since the 2007-08 season he split between the Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The 34-year-old has one year remaining on his Hornets contract, but his acquisition is a sign that Golden State is ready to move forward with Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green as soon as next season.

SALT LAKE CITY-Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro could only call the Utah Jazz's blowout win over the Clippers one thing: "a lesson in parity."
The Jazz had 10 players score in double figures in a 122-99 blowout over the Clippers in Game 6. Utah scored an astounding 70 bench points to the Clippers' 18 bench points.
Jamaal Tinsley led the bench onslaught with 16 points and eight assists. Mo Williams was Utah's top starter, finishing with 12 points and seven assists.
Behind Tinsley and Williams, Gordon Hayward and Earl Watson each scored 11 points. Hayward also had six assists in the win.
Six other players scored at least 10 points for the Jazz. Paul Millsap scored 10 points and tallied six rebounds, while Al Jefferson and Derrick Favors had 10 points and five rebounds each.
Raja Bell, Alec Burks and Marvin Williams were the other Jazz players with 10 points apiece.
Caron Butler led the Clippers with 19 points. Blake Griffin nearly tallied a double-double in the game, scoring 18 points and collecting nine rebounds. Chauncey Billups also scored 18 points for the Clippers.
DeAndre Jordan finished with 14 points and six rebounds. Chris Paul also had 12 points and eight assists for the Clippers.
Now tied at three games apiece, the series will move back to Los Angeles for Game 7 on May 2.

CHICAGO-The Chicago Bulls rode a huge first quarter advantage to pivotal 97-89 win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 6, sending the series back to Indiana for a Game 7 between the Central Division co-champions.
Chicago outscored the Pacers 29-12 in the first quarter of Game 6, giving them all the lead they would need to win the game. Chicago opened a 16-point with 7:30 left in the fourth quarter before the Pacers started to make a comeback, but Indiana could get no closer than the final margin.
Derrick Rose led the Bulls with 18 points and seven assists. Three other starters–Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng, and Kirk Hinrich–had 10 points apiece for the Bulls. Boozer also collected five rebounds. Joakim Noah also had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Bulls.
Danny Granger led the Pacers with 27 points and five rebounds. Three other starters finished in double figures for the Pacers. David West scored 16 points and collected six rebounds, Paul George scored 12 points and tallied five rebounds, and Roy Hibbert scored 10 points and collected six rebounds.
Chicago had two players score in double figures off the bench. Nate Robinson finished with 11 points and Jimmy Butler 10 points.

Daniel Gibson
CLEVELAND-The Cleveland Cavaliers cut ties with one of their most senior players Tuesday, sending guard Daniel Gibson to the Boston Celtics for point guard Andrew Goudelock.
Gibson had played for the Cavaliers since 2006, when the team selected him out of Texas in the second round of the draft. Aside from center Anderson Varejao, Gibson was the longest-tenured player on the team.
He averaged 3.6 points and 1.0 assists in 76 games for the Cavaliers in 2012-13, a far cry from the 11.6 points he averaged as a starter two years ago. Gibson was rookie Dion Waiters' backup this season.
Although Gibson primarily played shooting guard for the Cavaliers, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said Gibson would play point guard for the Celtics and back up Rajon Rondo and Leandro Barbosa.
Gibson signed a two-year contract extension with the Celtics worth $4 million after the completion of the trade.
Cleveland immediately waived Goudelock after the trade. In 42 games for the Celtics, the College of Charleston product averaged 4.6 points per game.

Zaza Pachulia
OAKLAND-Golden State addressed an important need in their third offseason move Tuesday, sending shooting guard Brandon Rush to the Atlanta Hawks for center Zaza Pachulia.
Starting center Andrew Bogut only played 34 games in 2012-13 recovering from a series of ankle injuries, so finding a capable backup center was one of Golden State's most crucial holes to fill this offseason. The Warriors announced last week that backup center Festus Ezeli would move to power forward, and Andris Biedrins–owed $9 million next season–is likely on his way out after averaging less than a point a game in 2012-13.
Pachulia, who spent the last eight seasons with Atlanta, only averaged 1.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 80 games for the Hawks, with the team choosing to use smaller lineups or power forward Ivan Johnson to spell starter Al Horford.
However, at his best, Pachulia is an effective starter; in his last full season as a starter in 2006-07, Pachulia averaged 12.2 points and 6.9 rebounds in 78 games. Atlanta planned to cut Pachulia after the season, according to Hawks general manager Danny Ferry.
Bogut's injury meant Golden State had to play power forward David Lee, one of the league's worst interior defenders, out of position. That lineup typically meant sixth man Carl Landry would start at power forward, leaving Golden State particularly thin in their frontcourt depth.
Rush averaged 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 82 games for the Warriors in 2012-13, way down from the 9.8 points and 3.9 rebounds he averaged during the 2011-12 season. Rush saw his minutes severely cut in his second season with Golden State because of the additions of Jarrett Jack and Michael Redd onto the Warriors roster.
Rush will likely be cut after the season, according to a Hawks front office source, saving Atlanta approximately $4 million.

BROOKLYN-Down nine points after three quarters, the Philadelphia 76ers looked defeated, almost certainly headed to a decisive Game 7 with the Brooklyn Nets. Then their perimeter shooting came alive.
Philadelphia nailed 10 three-pointers during a 47-point fourth quarter to overcome a hot Nets team 128-127 to win Game 6 and close out their first round series.
Before Philadelphia's huge quarter, the 76ers had been outscored 69-55 in the middle two quarters and the game looked to be headed to a blowout in Brooklyn's favor.
Jrue Holiday led the 76ers with a double-double on 26 points and 11 assists. Behind him, starters Evan Turner finished with 20 points and Andrew Bynum 12 points and five rebounds.
Philadelphia also had three bench players in double figures. Dorell Wright led the bench with 14 points, followed by Nick Young's 13 points. Antonio Daniels was the third bench player in double figures with 10 points and seven assists. All three contributed to Philadelphia's excellent perimeter shooting, combining to make six threes in the game.
Deron Williams led the Nets with double-double, scoring a game-high 34 points and dishing out 12 assists.
Kris Humphries and Gerald Wallace each had a double-double in the game as well. Humphries had 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Wallace had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Brook Lopez had 25 points and seven rebounds in the game, with five of them offensive rebounds. Brooklyn finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds, while the 76ers only collected 27 total rebounds.
Joe Johnson also scored 22 points for the Nets.
Philadelphia will move on to play another division foe in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Their opponent will be the New York Knicks, who swept the Atlanta Hawks in their first round series.

4/29/13-Bobcats send Warrick to Magic for McRoberts
Josh McRoberts
CHARLOTTE-The Charlotte Bobcats continued their roster overhaul Monday with their third move in as many days, sending power forward Hakim Warrick to the Orlando Magic for power forward Josh McRoberts.
According to a Bobcats front office source, both teams explored a similar trade in February, but no trade ever came from those talks.
Warrick averaged 3.9 points and 1.7 rebounds in 82 games for the Bobcats, playing mostly mopup minutes stuck behind Tyrus Thomas and Bismack Biyombo. The former 2005 first round pick has one year left on a four-year contract signed after the 2009-10 season.
McRoberts only played 10 games for the Magic, spending most of the season inactive behind starter Glen Davis and rookie reserve Andrew Nicholson. McRoberts averaged less than a point and 1.2 rebounds a game with Orlando.
McRoberts signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract extension with Charlotte after the trade was confirmed.

4/29/13-Kings send center Thompson to Spurs in three-team trade
Jason Thompson
SAN ANTONIO-The San Antonio Spurs have found their heir apparent to Tim Duncan.
Just over two months after Duncan shocked the basketball world by announcing his retirement and four days after the Oklahoma City Thunder ousted the Sacramento Kings from the playoffs, Sacramento sent center Jason Thompson to the Spurs for small forward Stephen Jackson.
In a related move, the Spurs sent reserve point guard Cory Joseph to the Golden State Warriors for power forward Jason Maxiell.
Duncan's February announcement that he was walking away from the game after 16 years was simply stunning, even given his age. The 36-year-old had been a full-time starter his entire career in the NBA, and many believed that despite his age, Duncan had at least two or three more years left in the NBA–a hypothesis buoyed by healthy increases in his minutes, points, and rebounds averages.
Duncan's impending retirement paves the way for the newly acquired Thompson, who will be just the third starting center in San Antonio since 1989. Thompson, the Kings' first-round pick in 2008, averaged 5.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in 67 games off the bench; Thompson primarily played off the bench once the Kings selected DeMarcus Cousins in the 2010 NBA Draft.
Thompson's best season came in his second year, when he averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 75 games for Sacramento.
In Jackson, the Kings get a capable small forward they sorely missed this season. Sacramento primarily played the smaller John Salmons and Tyreke Evans out of position. Although the team had some success with Evans at small forward and Marcus Thornton at shooting guard, Sacramento lost nearly every matchup they had with a small forward 6'8 or taller.
Jackson, one of the top defenders and most physical small forwards in basketball, averaged 10 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 assists in 73 games for the Spurs, mostly spent backing up Kawhi Leonard. The 35-year-old signed a two-year contract extension with the Kings after San Antonio agreed to the trade.
Golden State reportedly targeted Joseph almost immediately after trading second-year point guard Charles Jenkins to the Pistons last week. Joseph will be the third-string point guard in Golden State (like he was in San Antonio behind Tony Parker and Patrick Mills), but Joseph gives the Warriors a point guard to develop with the recently acquired, aging Derek Fisher likely to retire after next season. Joseph averaged 1.6 points in 38 games for the Spurs in 2012-13.
Golden State acquired Maxiell from the Pistons last week in the trade that sent Jarrett Jack to Detroit. However, Maxiell is expected to be released after the season, as the Spurs already have an undersized power forward on the roster in DeJuan Blair (both are 6'7), who signed a one-year contract extension earlier in the season.
Maxiell, who averaged 6.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in 69 games this season, will save the Spurs approximately $5 million in cap space when he is released after the season.

DALLAS-On almost any other night, the Minnesota Timberwolves might have lost shooting 48 percent. Thanks to a historic night of futility by the Dallas Mavericks, their ordinary night turned into a blowout.
Minnesota dispatched the Mavericks easily in an 80-55 thrashing as Dallas shot just 27 percent (24-of-86) in the game, the second lowest mark in NBA playoff history. The Golden State Warriors hold the record for the lowest shooting mark in playoff history, set after the team shot 23 percent in a game during the 1973 NBA playoffs.
The Mavericks scored just 55 points in the game, the second fewest in playoff history. The Utah Jazz hold the record, set after they scored 54 points in Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Chicago Bulls.
The 20 points Dallas scored in the second half broke Utah's record for fewest points scored in the second half. The Jazz had 23 in their historic loss to the Bulls.
Brandon Roy led the Timberwolves with 15 points. Kevin Love finished with a double-double, tallying 14 points and 11 rebounds.
O.J. Mayo was the only Mavericks player in double figures, finishing the game with a double-double: 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Mayo shot just 8-of-25 from the field in the game; Mayo's eight field goals were only three fewer than the other four starters–Darren Collison, Vince Carter, Shawn Marion, and Dirk Nowitzki–on the team combined. Those four shot just 11-of-43, brought down particularly by Darren Collison's spectacularly bad 16 percent (3-of-18) shooting night.
Thanks to their poor shooting totals, Dallas collected an impressive 16 offensive rebounds in the game. Seven of those were tallied by Marion, who finished with four points and 11 rebounds.

LOS ANGELES-The Utah Jazz looked to be all but headed to Game 6 at halftime, but the Los Angeles Clippers gave Utah a scare before the Jazz were able to close them out in a 94-86 win in Game 5 of their series.
The Jazz opened up a 52-36 lead at halftime, but Utah was outscored 25-19 by the Clippers in the fourth quarter. The Clippers used an early run in the final quarter to cut Utah's lead to six points, but were not able to get any closer.
Mo Williams led the Jazz with 16 points and five assists. Three other Jazz starters finished in double figures: Al Jefferson had 14 points and six rebounds, Alec Burks had 13 points and Raja Bell had 10 points.
Paul Millsap finished with seven points and 10 rebounds, his first game in the series without at least 10 points and his first since March 20 without breaking double digits.
Chris Paul led the Clippers with 25 points and five assists. Blake Griffin finished with a double-double, tallying 16 points and 15 rebounds. Caron Butler also scored 13 points for the Clippers.
