Game 64 @ CHC
You will never see an offensive performance like this again. The Tigers scored 22 runs, a new team record.
They also broke their record for most home runs as a team (in one game). That now stands at 11.
Balls flew out of Wrigley Field for both teams. Michael Morse, Andre Ethier, Adam Jones, and Ian Kinsler all homered twice! Otherwise, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, JJ Hardy, Alfonso Soriano, and Anthony Rizzo homered once.
There were plenty of hits and runs to go around. The only starter not to record either was Ricky Romero, the pitcher. He pitched a complete game, despite the 3 ER.
On the other hand, the Cubs nearly used up their entire bullpen. Only one fresh arm is left.
The Tigers have officially swept the Cubs. Now they will return home.
If any other records have been broken, I will report on them.

Game 63 @ CHC
Doug Fister only had one blemish during his complete game. That was a solo home run in the 9th. Other than that, it felt like a perfect win for the Tigers.
Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, and Andre Ethier homered off of Jeff Samardzija. He is now 2-6 with a 5.58 ERA.
Another win will give the Tigers a sweep and win number 60! We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Game 62 @ CHC
The outcome was never in doubt, but the Cubs made some strides toward changing that.
The Tigers' offense is still firing on all cylinders. They had 6 doubles collectively.
Miguel Cabrera was a homer shy of the cycle.
The pitching for the Tigers was a bit weird. Josh Beckett didn't finish the 7th. He also gave up 2. (His ERA heads above 1.00 for the first time in a while).
John Mayberry, Jr. faced 2 batters. Collin Balester registered a save because those runners reached base in the 9th.

Game 60 @ CIN
The Reds scored one run in the 1st. After that, both Verlander and Leake dazzled, but clutch hitting came on late.
Alex Avila's RBI single in the 7th got the Tigers a long-awaited tie. Then, the big bats in the middle of the lineup got on base and drove each other in during the 8th.
Jose Valverde's save was an easy one.

Game 56 vs. CLE
Out of all the offense the Tigers have put up this season, they hit their first grand slam this evening. Michael Morse cashed in with the bases loaded off of Derek Lowe. He only pitched 2 innings.
Despite the slam, the Tigers played a lot of "small ball". Andre Ethier had 2 bunts; Adam Jones had one as well. Both of Ethier's led to RBIs.
With this start, Jordan Zimmerman has made up his skipped start. He was scheduled to pitch against the Yankees, but Verlander took his place. Everything is back on schedule, and we will see Josh Beckett and his sub-1.00 ERA tomorrow!

Game 55 vs. NYY
The Tigers got on the board with multiple extra-base hits in the 3rd. Adam Jones tripled, Miguel Cabrera doubled, and Prince Fielder homered (to end a 12 game homerless streak).
After the mini-explosion in the 3rd, the Tigers thought that the rest would be smooth sailing; however, the 6th inning caused Justin Verlander some trouble. The defense behind him failed to convert any outs on two double play balls. The Yankees only got away with a sacrifice fly, but the inning still took a toll on Verlander's pitch count.
The bullpen roughly navigated through the late innings. There was a sign that the Yankees were coming back, but Valverde eventually closed the door.

I graciously accepted a 5-year extension with the Red Wings as their General Manager. I am expected to achieve at least 41 wins as a playoff contender.
I am proud to say that after we won the Cup, we still had about $12 million for Free Agency and Contract Renewals, and we boasted an average age of only 27!
The Red Wings also accumulated a lot of extra hardware. I do not mean to take away from the other award winners with this Red Wings exclusive list:
*Datsyuk played 65 games with the Red Wings before being traded.

For the third straight year, the Red Wings will hoist the Stanley Cup.
However, for the first time, the Cup was handed off to Henrik Zetterberg. This moment is a defining moment in what is a new era of Red Wings hockey.
Continuing on the thought of a new era, James Van Riemsdyk (acquired in the Datsyuk deal) was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for excellence in the Stanley Cup finals. He had at least a point in each game, and only lacked points in one game over the whole playoffs. Pavel Datsyuk had won the previous 2.
In terms of the clinching game itself, the Red Wings were able to cash in on the powerplay. In the first period, they were able to convert on both halves of a double minor.
An exciting offseason is set to begin. We have 2 first round picks (acquired at the trade deadline) as we continue to aggresively pursue talented youth in both Free Agency and the Draft.
