I was bored, so I played for the first time in maybe a year. Actually, I was really bored. So, I played 2 tournaments.
Final Scores
As expected, I played better the second time.
Best Round
Since it would be too much to put all rounds in, I am only including the 2nd Round of the 2nd Tournament. I shot 4 under 36.

Game 84 vs. MIN
This was a feel good win. The Tigers were very patient; Ricky Romero is also coming through.
Carl Pavano was gone after two, but his relief from Gregory Eckersley was nearly as bad. He surrendered 10 of 20 Tigers' hits.
Adam Jones homered twice and was a triple shy of the cycle. Andre Ethier lacked the home run in his bid for the cycle.
Ian Kinsler was the only Tiger not to reach base, going 0-5.

Game 81 vs. MIN
Both sides' pitching was masterful today. The Tigers didn't have a hit until the 6th. Justin Verlander pitched all 9 innings.
Aggressiveness at the plate really hurt the Tigers until the 6th, when JJ Hardy broke through with the first hit. Andre Ethier also singled, but Miguel Cabrera drilled a ball to deep left-center field to give the Tigers all of what they needed.

Game 79 @ TB
Recently, watching a Ricky Romero start has been treacherous. Today was no different. He gave up a 3 run 1st inning, but his offense continued to keep him in the game. The strikeout came back to help him, and he retired the last 10 batters that he faced.
Evan Longoria and Desmond Jennings homered off of Romero. Ben Zobrist had a 2 RBI double. These hits accounted for 4 of the 5 Rays RBIs.
The Tigers responded well enough for a win. Miguel Cabrera and JJ Hardy homered. Adam Jones was a homer shy of the cycle!
The Tigers end June with a solid standing in the league.

Game 78 @ TB
Jim Leyland surely loved the "0" under the runs column for the opposition, but I bet that he wanted to use fewer pitchers. The Tigers used 5 guys out of the bullpen to cover 3 innings. Doug Fister left after 6 for one of his shortest outings in recent memory.
Thankfully, the offense came through for the Tigers. The game looked like a sure pitcher's duel early. Miguel Cabrera homered in his first at bat; Andre Ethier and Alex Avila homered later in the game.

Game 77 vs. TB
This game represents a microcosm of the Rays' season. David Price (5-7) had a lead, yet failed to maintain it. He only went 3 and 2/3 innings, after giving up 5 runs.
Josh Beckett wasn't necessarily better. He struggled with command, and when you combine that with a patient lineup, it leads to only 6 innings of work.
The bullpen only gave up 1 hit behind him; the offense picked up Beckett's slack.
Cabrera and Jones played long ball. Prince Fielder went 4-5.

Game 76 @ TEX
The Texas Rangers' bullpen needs to declare a state of emergency. A string of poor outings has led to a severely fatigued bullpen. They got away with it yesterday, but its effects hurt them today.
The Rangers bullpen pitched a taxing 7 innings, after Steve Hayashi only went 2 innings, giving up 7 on 9 hits. Mark Hamburger, the first of 5 out of the pen, was worse. He gave up 8 in 1 and 1/3 innings. It was "decent" the rest of the way.
Don't discredit the Tigers who had the offensive output:
Hunter Pence made his debut, and he went 3-6 with 3 RBI and 2 runs.
Andre Ethier had 2 home runs and 4 RBI.
Ian Kinsler hit a grand slam against his former team.
Prince Fielder was 4-5, and so was Adam Jones.
Alex Avila was 3-5 with 2 doubles.
The Tigers will head to the Trop to close out June.

Following the loss to the Rangers, the Tigers traded Victor Martinez, John Mayberry, Jr., and struggling prospect Lefty Walton to the Phillies for Hunter Pence, Jim Thome, and Vladimir Guerrero.
The trade was not a result of the loss. We had been shopping Martinez, but this is the furthest we have gone, and we liked the offers presented.
Other serious considerations came from: Houston, Milwaukee, Minnesota, New York, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Washington, San Diego, Texas, and Pittsburgh (not in order).
We almost pulled the trigger on the San Diego deal. We will look at Carlos Quentin and Chase Headley later. The same is true for Texas; we almost re-acquired Nelson Cruz and David Murphy.
Later on, the Tigers traded Jim Thome and prospects Claude Miller and Nate Hamilton to the Yankees for Andruw Jones, Russel Branyan, and prospect Billy Robertson.
At his current position, there was only room for Thome at 1st against lefties. Andruw Jones is more fit for this role. Claude Miller has no playing time, so he was a throw in. Billy Robertson is better than Nate Hamilton, flat out.

Game 75 @ TEX
The Tigers' pitching staff had their arguably worst outing yet. Jordan Zimmermann was off the hook for the loss, but he gave up 6 ER in 4 1/3 innings.
Adrian Beltre walked off in the 9th to complete his cycle.
Adam Jones homered twice in the loss.
The Rangers avoided having to deal with their bullpen fatigue issues in the victory.
