Over the season, we made moves to bank on the future. Pitching is great, but offense will need help.
We are neither buyers or sellers. The team isn't tanking, but we won't be winning the division.
At 49-55, these are the Padres at the deadline:

Why I felt like re-building the Padres is a long story. Once again, I have decided to test my GM skills only. I will not play any games (except a couple in Spring Training).
Lots of moves have been made already, but it's too much to be filled in on at once.
Anyways, I'm still sticking with the Tigers dynasty. That's the All-Star lineup I'll play with anytime.

Game 107 vs. CLE
The Tigers gladly returned home after a long trip, and they welcomed an easy opponent in the Cleveland Indians.
The Tigers' defense, although not committing an error, helped the Indians score their only 2 runs in the 3rd.
During that inning, the Indians lost Asdrubal Cabrera. He sprained his wrist sliding into 2nd and will be out 1-2 weeks.
There were plenty hits to go around; only Ian Kinsler and Geovany Soto couldn't cash in.
Mark Trumbo and Adam Jones played long ball, and coincidentally, both of their averages are headed north towards .400!

Game 106 @ BOS
This one came down to the wire. When you look back, every run mattered for us.
Early in the game, the Tigers didn't cash in on a bases-loaded situation, and it almost came back to haunt us.
Adrian Gonzalez had all 3 Red Sox RBI. He homered twice.
The Tigers had 3 HR themselves.
Brian Fuentes had a tough Tigers' debut. He gave up the 2nd home run to Gonzalez. John Axford converted his 1st save as a Tiger.

I am skipping out on the stats until the end of the season. With all my trades, it is pointless to put up the league leaders because it wouldn't be a testament to my success anymore.
Anyways, here are the standings through July 31.

Game 105 @ BOS
I'm starting to not feel bad about the moves made at the deadline. Thinking about how we are performing (with Miguel Cabrera on the shelf) makes me feel proud about the rest of the team.
There were some great hitting performances today.
Hunter Pence: 4-6
Andre Ethier: 4-6, GS (20), 6 RBI
Paul Konerko: 3-6
JJ Hardy/Geovany Soto: 4-5 each
And with that, here's to the home stretch. We are turning the calendar over to August, and all the teams will be "stuck" with what they've got.

The Tigers trade Randy Choate and Manny Parra to the A's for Brian Fuentes and prospect George Ennis.
Randy Choate was in the last year of his contract. Brian Fuentes and Randy Choate are practically even in terms of ability. Fuentes has more power, though.
Parra was needed to spike the A's interest, and George Ennis was a throw-in.
