Game 122 vs. BAL
Unearned runs haunted the Tigers early. Baltimore scored 2 of those, driving up Jordan Zimmermann's pitch count.
However, the Tigers found a way to tee off on Wei-Yin Chen in the 3rd. Before the side was retired, they began with 7 consecutive hits.
Mark Reynolds' homer in the 7th put some life back into the O's, but the back end of the Tigers bullpen quieted things down.

Game 121 vs. BAL
Yes, you unfortunately heard the news again. After being hit by a pitch, Cabrera left the game with an injured back. He will miss 2 weeks. Jhonny Peralta was hit in retaliation.
Still, the Tigers forged on. They scored 12 runs behind 17 hits.
The losing starter, Brian Matusz, gave up 6 runs (4 ER) in 2 innings. That opened the door to another 6 ER by the bullpen over the next 6 innings.
Tomorrow's game is the series finale.

Game 120 vs. BAL
The Orioles, at 5th in the AL East, packed more punch than expected against the Tigers.
The main culprits were former Tigers Austin Jackson, Jhonny Peralta, and Wilson Betemit.
They went on to score 4 runs. Jackson homered off of Josh Beckett, who had trouble in his last start against the team. However, both ended in wins.
The 11-run effort was no surprise against Dana Eveland.
Edwin Encarnacion, Paul Konerko, Mark Trumbo, and Ian Kinsler homered.

Game 119 @ MIN
It was a typical Tigers blowout, full of lots of extra-base hitting, dominant pitching, and little substitutions. However, Twins pitching didn't take to liking the mockery that they were made of.
Andre Ethier was hit by a pitch in the 8th, and the Tigers were no fan of that, as he was nearly hit in the head.
Jamey Carroll was hit in the bottom of that inning, and Ryan Doumit was hit in the back.
The umpiring crew had enough, and they ejected Matt Guerrier. The ejection was on cue, since Daniel Schlereth was already warming up.
The Tigers swept the Twins here, and they have a day off tomorrow.

Game 117 @ MIN
A seemingly perfect lineup was bolstered by the return of Miguel Cabrera. Manager Jim Leyland tried something new: a maneuver that is used by Ron Washington. He used the pesky hitting Michael Young in the 2-slot.
Since Cabrera is also known for a lot of contact, he was put there today. Adam Jones remained 3rd, and Andre Ethier was dropped to 5.
The move worked, as the offense scored 8 runs, and Cabrera was 2-5.
Jordan Zimmermann is now a 20 game winner.

Game 116 @ TEX
If I didn't have the stats to back it up, you wouldn't believe what happened in Arlington this evening. So, let's start all the way at the beginning.
Both starters had phenomenal starts. Yu Darvish was perfect through 4, and Doug Fister had only given up 2 hits at the time.
After the series opener, the Tigers were worried when the Rangers strung together a 3-run 5th. With the way Yu pitched, they thought it was over.
But, the talented offense fought back. They tied it with rallies in the 6th and 7th inning.
Solid pitching took the game to extras.
However, the wheels seemed to fall off very late. With the bases loaded and NO OUTS, the improbable bullpen duo of Jon Lester and Justin Verlander stranded the runners.
The Tigers exploded on Mark Lowe, and their 5-run 12th gave them runs that they needed. Highlights from that inning were an Ian Kinsler home run, and a Paul Konerko 2-RBI single.
A grave fielding mistake allowed the Rangers to score the 4 runs. Michael Young legged out an infield single on a play that was destined to be a fielder's choice.
However, the most IMPROBABLE play (very similar to "The Flip") kept Mike Napoli from scoring the tying run. The hustle by Jordan Walden allowed him to make the throw to Soto, who tagged out Napoli.
Daniel Schlereth struck out David Murphy, stranding Adrian Beltre at 2nd.

Game 115 @ TEX
This game really should be a playoff preview. With every run tacked on the board, you got the feeling that each run scored had the potential to be the game-winning one.
The Tigers' saving grace was the bullpen, who surrendered an inherited run, but otherwise gave up 1 hit through 2 1/3 innings.
Colby Lewis didn't get enough from the Rangers' bats, even though he is the one to blame for giving up 5 runs.
The Tigers avoid back-to-back losses, which they have not suffered this season.
