LOGAN, Utah -- Utah State lost in a blowout to Colorado State 29-0.

USU managed only 8 first downs, and 137 yards total offense, as CSU swarmed on the rushing attack and didn't allow enough time for the receivers to get open before hitting th QB on passing plays.

Raymond Carter rushed for a 35 yard touchdown in the first quarter which was a sign of how the game would be played for all 60 minutes. Carter battled the snowy surface for 112 yards while Carlos Washington added another 67 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Klay Kubiak was 8 for 19 for 156 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

"The ball was frozen today, I couldn't get a great grip on it, so we had to run more then usual." Kubiak commented on the gameplan for todays game.

Aggies QB TJ Canales had to try and throw the ball given his team was behind for most of the game. He ended up with 85 yards on 10 of 22 passing. "I'm disappointed that we couldn't clinch a bowl birth. To end the season this way is really disappointing." Canales commented after the game.

USU starting HB Robert Turbin rushed for 32 yards in the first quarter before injuring himself and coming out in streetclothes in the second half. "I really wanted to go back in there. The coaches told me that if it wasn't in these snowy conditions I would have been able to enter again, but my ankle was hurt to much to try and gain traction in the snow."Turbin said.

"We have a lot of seniors on this team, and for them to go out like this is really disappointing. However, for myself and the underclassmen it serves as great motivation for next year." Utah State coach commented after the game.

CSU coach Gill was estatic that his team will finish above .500 this season,"To be honest earlier this year, I was afraid that we wouldn't finish with a winning record, now that we got our 7th win, we are assured of that. And Thomas will be back for our bowl game too. I've been really surprised by how well Klay played filling in for the injured QB, but with Thomas we know that we won't have some of those rookie mistakes."

Fort Collins, CO -- It was senior day at Colorado State, and the senior wanted to go out with a bang at home against UNLV. CSU won 38-21 to become bowl eligible this season.

There was an area of concern with this game as both Klay Kubiak went out in the 1st half injured and replacement QB Nico Ranieri went out in the opening minutes of the 4th quarter. Redshirt Freshman Garrett Grayson saw his first action of the season, however he mainly handed the ball off to run time off the clock, as he was 0-1 on pass attempts.

Senior RB Raymond Carter put on a show for the home fans as he rushed for 106 yards while backup RB Carlos Washington ran for another 38 yards.

Another Senior who had a good game was WR Matt Yemm who had 7 catches for 137 yards. "I just wish I could have gotten into the endzone, It was a special game for me, and I feel like I left my all out on the field today." Yemm said after the game.

Defensively Senior LB Mychail Sisson was named player of the game after recording 10 tackles, with 3 for a loss and one sack. "I've been captain of the defense for two years now, and felt like this might have been the best game I've played in that time." Sisson commented.

Senior WR TJ Borcky commented about how it felt to play in Fort Collins for the last time,"When we all got our framed jerseys before the game, I was shaking so bad and was more nervous then any other game over the past 4 years. To look up into the stands and see those familiar faces for the last time, truely meant something special. I'm glad that coach let all of us seniors get on the field in the last minute, to be able to wave goodbye to such great fans."

San Diego -- After going up 20-7 with a minute remaining in the third, Colorado State, crumbled under the pressure and walked away with a 20-21 loss to the San Diego State Aztecs.

There were numerous opportunities throughout the game for the Rams to put the Aztecs away however costly turnovers ended up swinging the momentum to the home team. In 4 redzone visits, CSU walked away with only one TD and no Field Goals.

Kubiak did set the school record for passing yards in a game with 453 yards, however it was the two interceptions he threw and the incapability of managing the team in the redzone that was the Rams undoing. Marquise Law caught 8 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown, while Matt Yemm also added 87 yards recieving to CSU, who seemed to blow past the secondary on any given attempt.

For SDSU QB Ryan Lindley had a good game in throwing for 321 yards on 20 of 21 attempts, adding 2 touchdowns too. Star runningback Ronnie Hillman was limited to 82 yards, however with the team down most of the game, the passing game was more of the focus.

"I was confident that we could get back into the game." Lindley stated after the game.

"We've got to keep our focus, this has been such a rollercoaster year, as we can't keep any momentum going. I want the team to go out and play a solid 60 minutes, not 30, not 45, not even 59, a solid 60." CSU coach Drew Gill commented about nis teams effort today.

"I tried to put them away but costly mistakes kept giving them room to come back. I'm disappointed that I can't celebrate the school single game record as we came away with a loss." Kubiak said.

Fort Collins, Co -- Colorado state capitalized on an interception by Orakpo which was returned for a TD in the opening minutes of the game and never looked back, upsetting the TCU Horned Frogs 28-17.

CSU was up 28-7 going into halftime, and just tried to waste the clock in the second half by rushing most plays and giving the punter room to boot the ball as far as possible.

Kubiak was 14-29 passing for 201 yards with 3 TD's and 2 interceptions.
Washington and Carter combined for 100 yards rushing and ate up the clock in the second half.

Orakpo added 12 tackles, with 3 for a loss to his interception, to be named player of the game.

"I felt like James Harrison in the SuperBowl, when he intercepted the ball on the goaling and returned it all the way for a touchdown. I'll tell ya, I needed some oxygen after that play." Orakpo said on the sidelines.

Defensive End Davis Burl injured his shoulder in the first quarter and couldn't return to the game. The CSU trainer said that he should be alright for next weeks game against San Diego State.

LARAMIE, Wy -- Colorado State looks to have returned to last seasons form with a convincing rivalry game win 45-10 over Wyoming.

QB Klay Kubiak threw for 269 yards on 15 of 25 passing, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. The player of the game however went to running back Carlos Washington who rushed for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns, with one long 47 yard touchdown run. Starting RB Raymond Carter was injured in the 1st quarter and didn't return to the game. No news on how serious the injury may be.

For Wyoming Junior QB Austyn Carta Samuels had a good game throwing for 307 yards on 14 of 28 passing, however he could only find the endzone once, as the CSU defense stepped up whenever The Cowboys got within the redzone.

"We were really fired up to take home the golden boot, and the guys played a solid game on all sides of the ball. To have Carter go out in the 1st quarter, I wasn't sure how the guys we're going to react, but Washington stepped up and filled in very nicely, getting off a few long runs and plowing over the defense." Coach Drew Gill said after the game.

FORT COLLINS, Co -- BYU Played a good game but ultimately came up short against Colorado State 17-13.

CSU evened their record as they move to 3-3 on the year with the hard faught win. Coach Gill commented,"We left our heart out there today. To pull off the win against a one loss team really means something. Maybe, we've found our mojo."

One player who really found their mojo today was DE Davis Burl, who was in the QB's face all game long, he recorded 8 tackles with 2 for a loss and one sack.

"Our D-Line was unstopable today. They couldn't get their running game going because we were pushing the linemen into the backfield. Nuku (Latu) was a beast inside and finding any runner with the ball before they hit the line." Burl said.

On Offense Junior QB Klay Kubiak continued to struggle with his accuracy as he was 14-24 for 225 yards with one TD, but still threw 3 timely interceptions as two were in the redzone.

Kubiak commented,"I'm starting to get more comfortable in the pocket, but I need to take my time once we hit the redzone, two INT's there today which cost us 14 points."

WR Byron Steele had a touchdown catch early in the first quarter and finished with 115 yards.

For BYU, Senior QB Riley Nelson looked good going 17-25 for 263 yards and two touchdowns. "I really spread the ball around today. Normally McKay (Jacobson) is my primary target but I only threw the ball his way a couple of times." Nelson commented.

MLB Austin Jorgensen had 8 tackles, and two interceptions, both inside the redzone.

Post Game wrap-up

Corso- Colorado State looked amazing this week. I can't believe they are the same team which we saw against Utah. Either Air Force is really THAT bad, or The Rams stepped it up today.

Howard- I totally agree Lee. If Matt Yemm continues to get open like that, then we could see him in New York accepting a trophy I'm all too familiar with.

Corso- I think you're getting a little ahead of yourself, but 8 receptions for 205 yards and two touchdowns, is none the less a great performance.

Herbstreit- Guys I'd like to talk about Klay Kubiak the backup QB who has been forced into starting position. How does he go from that performance last week, to leading the team to a 41-15 win this week.

Corso- Easy throwing for 396 yards will do that for your team. Guys was there anything you saw in Air Force that made them look like a top 25 team? which they were just a few weeks ago.

Herbstreit- This is supposed to be Jefferson's year in the MWC. But it didn't look like that tonight. on 113 yards on 9 of 15 passing and rushing for minus 16 yards.

Howard - Ouch!

Herbstreit- I know, The Falcons only had a few players show up to this rivalry game. Safety PJ Adeji Paul looked good with a sack and 7 tackles, but LB Jordan Waiwaiole was the only Falcon that looked really good with two interceptions, and returning on for a TD.

Corso - Lets send it to Erin Andrews who is with CSU coach Gill.

Andrews- Coach, What did you do to prepare for this game after last weeks poor performance?

Gill- We the team did lots of running on Monday to get all the garbage out of their system, and we spent twice as much time in the film room, not just looking at Air Force and what they do, but what we did wrong last week.

Andrews- Was it your plan to take care of the ball more this week,l and milk the clock?

Gill- I knew that they like to run the ball, so we wanted to get up early then, run down the clock as the game went along. Everything came together perfectly for the gameplan this week.

Andrews- Coach, What can we expect of the rams for the remainder of the season?

Gill- Well, we had some role players step up this week. Matt (Yemm) had a huge game as they were looking to focus on stopping Byron Steele. On Defense I was really impressed with Orakpo as he got out there and intercepted the ball within the opening minute. I'm saddened to say though that Ivory Herd's arm looks broken, I'm hopeful he can get back in time for a bowl game.

Andrews- Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Desmond, you heard it here, The Rams plan was perfectly executed today.

Howard- Thanks Erin. Stay tuned everyone as the Red River Rivalry is coming up next when #11 Oklahoma travels to Texas to take on the 1 and 3 Longhorns.

There are no excuses, but we are going to spend the next couple of days to look over the gametape and show the boys how to correct all the mistakes they made today."

FORT COLLINS, CO -- Colorado State survived a scare at home to walk away with a 24-21 victory of San Jose State, thanks to a last second TD run by backup QB Klay Kubiak.

Kubiak entered the game in the third quarter after Pete Thomas was thrown hard to the ground after a pass attempt and couldn't return to the game.

The Rams jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead however SJSU came back in the second half to lead 21-17 with two minute remaining, Kubiak drove them down the field then on the 2 yard line with no one open he ran the ball in to give the Rams the lead.

HONOLULU -- Hawaii quarterback Bryant Moniz passed for 480 yards and 5 touchdowns today to lead the Warriors past the Colorado State Rams 47-30.

"I was surprised by how open the receivers were all game. It seemed like we were a step ahead of their secondary today." Moniz said after the game.

Saftey Darryl McBride had a solid game on defense as he had 10 tackles, one for a loss, he batted the ball down 3 times, forced and recovered a fumble which he returned for a touchdown.

CSU fell behind big in the first half, and tried to claw back into, however some key defensive stops and big plays by the warriors prevented the Rams from getting any momentum.

"I think the team was looking forward to the beaches too much. They were promised an off day after the game, to stay behind in Hawaii on Sunday, but I've rebooked our tickets and we're going home tonight following this embarassment." Colorado State coach Drew Gill commented after the game.

The CSU Defense didn't look like it showed up, with big plays happening every drive for Hawaii. "The D-line seemed to get pressure but Moniz would get the ball off just in time, and find a WIDE open receiver down field."Rams QB Pete Thomas mentioned.

CB Momo Thomas stated,"I don't know what happened out their today. We knew going in they were going to throw the ball, but man, those guys are physical and extremely fast. They hit you coming off the line then out sprint you to the spot where the ball is thrown.

CSU has a bye week to prepare for San Jose State on Sept 17th, in the home opener.

Denver -- The Rocky Mountain Showdown was another close matchup this year as Colorado won over Colorado State 25-22.

CSU led 14-12 going into halftime after a 47 yard pass from QG Thomas to Marcus Law and a 4 yard TD run by Raymond Carter, and CU touchdowns by Stewert on a 94 yard run and a 32 yard pass from Hansen to Espinoza.

The third quarter saw two more touchdowns from Colorado; a 4 yard pass to Slavin and an interception by Webb which was returned 86 yards for a TD with no time left on the clock.

The 4th quarter belonged to the Rams who scored by a 31 yard pass from Thomas to Weems to pull within 3. If there had been a little more time on the clock, CSU would have had a great chance at tying or winning the game as the momentum and crowd had shifted to their favour.

For CSU, QB Pete Thomas had 242 yard passing on 16-28 attempts with 2 TDs and two Interceptions. The run didnčt amount to much as Washington and Carter combined for 46 yards.

For CU, QB Tyler Hansen passed for 236 yards on 18 of 27 attempts with 2 TDs and no interceptions. HB Rodney Stewart ran for 165 yards. On defense MLB Serrick Webb had 9 tackles, 3 for a loss and an interception returned for a TD

CSU Coach Drew Gill said, I dončt think we were fully prepared for this game. We had a few position battles in camp that werenčt finalized and they took advantage of those players who havenčt seen enough time for us with the 1st team in practice.
