San Jose State was lead by star HB David Freeman as he rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown."I wish I could have gotten the ball more as I was seeing all the cracks and spaces in the O-line to run through. I felt invincable today, but the rest of the guys couldn't get it going so we couldn't come away with the win." Freeman said.
Next week CSU will welcome Utah into town as we will see the first matchup of two top 25 teams in te MWC this year.

CSU was lead by Klay Kubiak who was 16-32 passing for 250 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. "I made a few mistakes out there today. I'm going straight to the filmroom to see what I did wrong and hopefully, I won't make the same mistakes again." Kubiak mentioned after the game.

Fort Collins, CO -- Carlos Washington was on fire today, as he found opening after opening in leading Colorado State to an easy win over Utah State 65-7.
Washington had 22 carries for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 4th quarter replacement Chris Nwoke added 2 touchdowns and 77 yards. "I wanted the home crowd to really get into it. I found an opening early in the 1st and ran 50 yards to the touchdown, and the rest of the game was more of that. We were so far ahead that I think by the beginning of the 4th when I left the game the majority of the crowd had disappeared. I know it'll be a good homecoming party tonight after a team performance like this." Washington commented on the game.
Freshman Safety Keith Harper is looking like a great recruit as he had 9 tackles, 1 for a loss and added another interception today. "I wasn't the highest rated coming out of highschool and I was determined to work hard all summer to prove any doubters wrong. I knew I had a chance to start right away, and I think I've shown that I belong at this level."
Not all was good news for the Rams today though and Jr QB Pete Thomas was injured in the 2nd quarter and went for X-rays only to find out he has a couple broken ribs and could miss the remainder of the season again, after he only played a couple games last season too.
"I knew the guys would be fired up for homecoming this week, but I didn't think we would play such a well rounded game like we did. Washington was unstopable with the ball today and Nwoke wasn't far behind when it was his turn with the offense. I'm saddend by the news that Pete Thomas could miss the remainder of the season for the second year in a row. I wish him the best of luck in getting better and hopefully he can work hard and make it back out on the field this year." CSU coach Drew Gill commented after the game.

In this exciting game CSU quarterback Pete Thomas set the school single game passing record with 484 yards, he also added 4 touchdowns and one interception on 23 of 37 passing. "I was focused today on finding my receivers. I knew we could take advantage with our size and speed in the receiving corps today." Thomas said.
Marquise Law caught 9 passes for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns, Byron Steele had 6 catches for 99 yards and a TD, Lou Greenwood had 3 passes for 124 yards and one touchdown. Steele commented about their performance,"We knew coming in that we had an advantage with our experience, and Pete constantly hit us in stride so we didn't have to slow down to catch the ball, it was a great help as we burst away from the defense numerous times on the way to the endzone."
HB Carlos Washington added 98 yards on the ground with a score."With us being so focused on the passing game, whenever I begged in the huddle to get the ball, Thomas obliged and handed it off, I think that the 5 yards per carry showed that the defense had no clue if we were going to pass or run."
WSU QB Jeff Tuel passed for 517 yards on 38 of 48 attempts, and added 3 touchdowns too."I knew I could take advantage of their defense because they have a history of being very aggressive, so I tried to avoid the blitz and find the open man, a lot of the time the underneath pass was open and I'd hit the short pass with our guy then able to run 10-15 yards in open space."
The receiving combo of Gino Simone (92 yards on 9 catches), Marquess Wilson (151 yards on 8 catches, and 1 TD), and Isiah Barton (113 yards on 7 catches) found a lot of open space to work with and like their CSU conterparts, were much quicker and smarter then the defense today.
"I'm going to work on getting these guys motivated more for the start of the game, as both this week and last week we went down early only to have to play catch up for a good portion of the time." CSU coach Drew Gill commented.
After falling behind 20-0, CSU scored twice in the final two minutes of the first half to trail 20-14 at halftime. CSU took the lead in the 3rd when Marquise Law caught a pass and ran 74 yards for the tocuhdown, however the Cougars answered back with a 71 yard touchdown pass from Tuel to Wilson, a minute later.

Denver -- This years Rocky Mountain Showdown will go down as one of the best Colorado-Colorado State rivalry games in history.
Colorado was up 21-3 at halftime and 28-10 at the end of the third quarter, before CSU scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth to win the game inside the final minute.
The tale of two halfs for the Rams today as in the first half they kept coming up empty inside the redzone, however in the second have QB Pete Thomas marched the team down the field time after time, in the comeback win for Colorado State.
Thomas was named player of the game after going 24-44 for 419 yards, three touchdowns, including the go ahead toss to Greenwood with 49 seconds remaining, and two interceptions.
"I was nervous when I first stepped on the field today. And it showed in my incapability to get into the redzone in the first half. Coach sat me down and gave me a few pointers and Viola! magic happened in the second half." Thomas said about his performance.
Senior RB Carlos Washington rushed for 49 yards and one touchdown as Th Buffaloes defense prevented him from getting any open space, however in the passing game Byron Steele caught 8 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. Greenwood and Law both added a touchdown and 77 and 88 yards a piece.
On defense for CSU Davis Burl looks to have found his form from his spohmore season as he collected 2 sacks."Last year, I was trying to help teach the younger guys some of the tricks of the trade. This summer I focused on getting myself better and stronger, and I think you'll see me rack up the sacks again."Burl said.
Freshman Strong Safety Keith Harper showed little inexperience at this level as he caught an interception which put CSU in great field position for the go ahead touchdown. "I've always been known for my hard hits, and play against the run game, but I think today I showed the doubters that my hands and vision are good and if you throw one up to my area of the field, you'll be sorry."
For Colorado, Sophmore QB Nick Hirschman was 21-36 for 306 yards and 2 TDs, with 2 INTs. HB Justin Torres looks strong this year as he collected 66 yards, and avoided numerous tackle attempts with his jukes and spin moves.
"What a way to start the season."Coach Gill commented,"These players have matured a lot since last season, as if they faced a similar situation last year they would have rolled over, but they showed a lot of promise out there today. I think the polls underestimated us in the preseason, and I'm looking forward to taking it to the Utahs and TCUs this year."
