Fort Collins, CO -- #25 Colorado State had an easy time taking down UNLV 63-17 in the rain.

CSU managed to eat up the clock with long drives all game long, as they had only two turnovers and no punts in the game. The Rams ended up with a time of possession more then double UNLV total.

Thomas getting hit out of boards after a scramble to get a 13yd first down

CSU was led by Sr QB Pete Thomas, who had another strong game throwing for 256 yards on 14 of 21 passing for 4 TD and one interception. "I feel like I'm really clicking with the receivers lately. I'm feeling extremely comfortable both in the pocket and to the outside when I scramble, I'm finding that it opens guys up as their man leaves to chase me while our guy sits there wide open."

Starting HB Chris Nwoke may start having to look over his shoulder at competition for carries, as Tony Drake filled in for the majority of the game while Nwoke was nursing a sore shoulder to run for 170 yards and 3 TD. Nwoke did manage 46 yards and a TD in the little action he saw. Gordon King added another goalline bullrush TD, cementing his status as the teams Power Back.

Gill catching a low TD pass

Andrew Gill lead the receivers with 117 yards and a TD. Touchdowns were also caught by Sophmore Taylor Pino, FB Joe Brown, and Freshman Derrcik Rhodes."Coach had put up a printoff off the internet where a couple members of their secondary had commented that 'There was no way we'd be able to do anything against them, and that they were going to shut us down.' That proved to be more than enough motivation for us out there today, I think we proved who the better unit was out on the field." Gill commented about the teams performance.

Freshman LB Dan McKenzie had a beautiful interception off a bobbled pass where he just reached into the receivers arms and stole the ball away."Next time they will learn to hold on tight." McKenzie said.

UNLV was led by their Jr QB Taylor Barnhill, who was 13 of 21 passing for 139 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

"We've be able to point a lot of points up on the board this season, and the defense isn't letting us down either. Having an experienced quality quarterback means everything in the college game, and I think we're living proff of that."CSU coach Drew Gill commented.

Fort Collins, CO -- #16 BYU was embarrassed today as they head home from Hughes Field with a 65-7 loss.

Colorado State seized control early in the first quarter and had ran away to a 35-0 lead at halftime. CSU decided to run the ball to eat up the clock in the second half however, once the 4th quarter hit and they brought on the 2nd team offense and defense, they scored another 30 in the quarter to make this a laugher.

CSU had a 398-200 total offense advantage in the game, and had 17 first downs to 7 for BYU. CSU didn't allow a turnover in the game compared to 3 for BYU, and CSU also held BYU to zero rushing yards in the game.

Thomas embarrassed the BYU defense all day.

Sr QB Pete Thomas was 14 for 19 for 219 yards and 3 touchdowns on the day, backup Nico Ranieri also threw for a TD. "I never thought in my wildest dreams that the final score would be so one sided, especially with the way Heap has been throwing the ball for them this year. To be able to outduel the leading conference player of the year candidate feels awesome."Thomas mentioned after the game.

Starting HB Chris Nwoke had 58 yards and 1 touchdown, before feeling the affects of some hard hits and sitting a couple drives out. Tony Drake stepped in and ran for 72 yards and 3 TDs. True Freshman Gordon King also added a TD on a goalline dive. "I asked Chris if he was seeing anything about the defense, and he mentioned they were being over aggressive, so we could use that aggainst them. So I slowed down a little until I hit the line of scrimage and then hit the turbo boosters."Drake said.

King celebrating his TD in the 4th quarter

TE Matt Weems caught 5 passes for 67 yards and a score, while Jr WR Bernard Blake had 2 touchdowns and 57 yards, backup TE Jameson Gann also caught a TD pass.

The CSU defense was again lead by standout Freshman Brandon McKnight who added 2 more sacks to his season total, one was in the endzone for a safety, the other he managed to knock the ball loose and recover the fumble for the Rams. "McKnight is playing like a kid who is possessed. I've never seen such a dominant player on the defensive side of the ball." CSU coach Drew Gill said.

For BYU, QB Jake Heaps was 14 of 19 passing for 174 yards and one touchdown. HB Josh Quezada caught the screen pass and ran 80 yards for the TD in the 3rd quarter.

Utah was lead by Sr QB Griff Robles who was 17 of 24 passing for 351 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was aided by HB Beau Burton who ran for 119 yards and 1 TD. The receiving corps wasnèt lead by All-American Ken Scott but instead by Jr Terrell Reese who had 3 touchdown catches and 115 yards.

Fort Collins, CO -- Freshman DE Brandon McKnight came in fir the injured Kharyee Marshall and set a new NCAA record with 8 sacks in one game. He also added a forced fumble on one sack.

McKnight telling TCU QB Pachall to just stay down after his 8th sack of the game.

Marshall fell halfway through the 1st quarter and went for Xrays and looks to be out for 1-2 months, however McKnight came in and probably did enough in one game to earn an All-American berth and a MWC defensive player of the year. Upto this point of the season McKnight has only seen spot duty and garbage time in big wins, however after this performance, you can expect to see him on the field for every play over the next 3 or 4 years.

"Brandon was a monster out there today. Everytime he came to the sidelines he had this harsh look in his eyes. I'm glad that I wasn't the opposing QB today, after taking that much punishment." CSU QB Pete Thomas commented.

TCU QB Casey Pachall was a solid 11 of 24 passing for 324 yards and 2 touchdowns, however after the game he wasn't very optimistic,"I'm not looking forward to the next few days as that DE didn't just take me down, he really threw me into the ground, My calf is already all bruised. I'm hopeful I'll be OK in time to play next week."

Colorado State was motivated by the performance of McKnight to come out on top with a 39-17 win.

Thomas was a solid 18 of 30 passing for 317 yards and 2 TDs, while throwing 1 interception. Chris Nwoke and Tony Drake both scored rushing touchdowns, while Andrew Gill and Derrick Phodes had the receiving TDs.
TCU WR Nick Linton had 175 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Frogs.

"I hope that Marshall has a speedy recovery as he transfered to CSU to get good playing time and provide strong leadership to the younger teammates. After sitting out a year, going down for the majority of the season is a big letdown for him. However, he did give Brandon his congrats and they shared a big hug when Brandon came to the sidelines after setting the NCAA record sack."CSU Coach Drew Gill commented.

Fort Collins, CO -- In a battle of the unbeatens early on this college season, Texas A&M came out on top of a 41-28 game vs. Colorado State.

Texas A&M took advantage of some CSU missed opportunities in the 2nd to score 27 points in the quarter. The defecit proved too large for Pete Thomas and team to come back from.

The Aggies were lead by Jr HB Mister Jones, who ran for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day, backup Ben Malena added 82 yards to the Aggies offense too."I had a few big openings that I took advantage of, but overall this Colorado State team has my respect, Their young D-line will be something not to mess with in the next couple of years, I'd hate to be in the Mountain West and have to face them again." Jones commented after the game.

Jr QB Matt Joeckel was 18 of 26 for 186 yards and 4 TDs. The receiving corps was lead by Nate Askew and Alfred Moore who both tallied 2 TDs.

CSU took a while, but in the second and third quarters their rushing game started to click, too bad for Nwoke as they were so far behind and trying to play catch up through the air as Nwoke was limited to 56 yards on 14 carries.QB Pete Thomas threw for 346 yards however it was on 18 of 50 passing, with 3 TD and 2 INT.Touchdown catches were by Matt Weems, Freshman Derrick Rhodes and Andre Gill who added 157 yards receiving. "I was ready for this game, I knew I could get out into some spaces with their secondary being a little weak. Once I got past any linebackers who dropped back, I was wide open. They do have a couple great LBs though."Gill commented.

This is the first time this season that the Rams defense has been unable to force any turnovers from the opposition. Pete Kontodiakos did continue to have a strong year with a 3 for 3 FG game with a long of 59 yards, and 1-1 XP. If he continues these strong performances, we will get to watch him on Sundays next fall.

We will find out just how good this years Ram squad is over the next few weeks as they face TCU, @ #12 Utah, home against BYU.

San Diego -- On a beautiful day with the temperatures hitting the mid 80s San Diego State welcomed the Colorado State Rams to Qualcom Stadium. The visiting team didn't seem effected by the warm temperatures as they go home with a 38-26 victory.

CSU was lead by Sr HB Chris Nwoke who ran for 64 yards and 3 touchdowns, Jr Tony Drake added another rushing touchdown."Pete (Thomas) couldn't really find much of a rhythm against the 3-3-5 defense today, and it was a really close game until the second half when I finally started to get some success running through the middle of the line instead of around it aand into their fast guys on the corners." Nwoke commented.

QB Pete Thomas was 16 of 37 passing for 302 yards and 2 interceptions.
Jr WR Bernard Blake lead the receiving corps with 74 yards on 4 catches.
CB Shaq Bell recovered a fumble and returned in for a TD in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach for the Aztecs. "I feel like everyone always discounts our defense, even with the All-Americans in the middle of the line, the rest of us aren't getting any respect. I'm looking forward to showing everyone how good Mitchell and I are on the outside."Bell commented.

Sr FS Ezra Thompson commented after the game,"It's always so much fun to come down here and play in an NFL stadium, After last week playing in Denver and this week at Qualcom, I'm going to be a little disappointed when we goto a small field with what will seem like a handful of people." Fr HB Gordon King talked about the experience,"These stadiums are beautiful, I think that I'm going to feel like I'm back in highschool once we start getting the smaller stadiums and crowds, It's been a really exciting way to open up the year."

For SDSU Sr QB Ryne Clark had a good start to his season with 288 yards on 19 of 30 passing for 3 touchdowns and one interception. Sr WR Osmond Nicholas had 83 yards and one touchdown reception, while Sr TE Justin Hall was a big target in the redzonewith 2 TD catches.

"It's been 3 years since we've come out on the winning side against the Aztecs. They always throw a wrinkle into our plans with the 3-3-5 defense, Thomas just can't seem to grasp it. No other team in the Mountain West runs it regularly though, so no more worries for this year." CSU coach Drew Gill said after the game.

Las Vegas -- Colorado State capped a great season with a 27-17 Las Vegas Bowl victory over Arizona State. The victory should help move the Rams up the season end polls and into the top 15.

Carlos Washington finished his college career with a bang as he was named player of the game after rushing for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns, he also got the offense roliing with a 76 yard touchdown run in the opening moments of the second quarter. "I felt great out there today. My legs were nice and lose, felt 100% for the first time since game one this year. I knew that I'd have the opportunity to break 1000 if I got enough carries, but I broke it with my long 76 yarder."

QB Pete Thomas was back for the bowl game, he played fairly well but did show a little rust as he passed for 226 on 13 of 23 passing for 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions. "I didn't think I'd make it back this year after breaking my ribs. I was thankful to just step onto the field today."

For the Sun Devils, QB Brock Osweiler finished his college career with a 172 yard 20-29 passing effort. All-American RB Covaughn Deboskie was held to 60 yards on the day. The ASU defense was the main draw today with MLB Vontaze Burfict collecting 13 tackles, DE Junior Onyeali with 2 sacks, and CB Deveron Carr returning an interception for a touchdown.

CSU coach Drew Gill commented while accepting the trophy,"The guys really came together this year, and I think that I've built some strong pieces to win in the future too. I'm going to enjoy this tonight, but tomorrow morning I'm heading out on the recruiting trail to tie up some loose ends on some promising guys I've seen."

Colorado State finishes the year with a 12-1 record.

Fort Collins, CO -- Jr Texas Tech QB Seth Doege won the Heisman Trophy today, in a narrow (95 votes) victory over Gilbert from Texas. Other finalists were Martinez from Nebraska, Parker from Clemson, and Padron from SMU.

Colorado State Fr DT Courtney McCarthy was voted to the 1st team All-American. Sr DE Davis Burl was named 2nd team All-American along with Soph DT Trevor Murhpy and Fr SS Keith Harper. McCarthy and Harper were joined on the Freshman All-American team by CB TJ Brown.

On the All-MWC teams, CSU had on the 1st team: DE Burl, DT McCarthy, DT Murphy, Jr CB Immanuel Mitchell, Jr CB Shaquille Bell, Jr FS Ezra Thompson, SS Harper and Soph K Eric Porter. 2nd team All-MWC members are: Sr WR Marquise Law, Sr WR Byron Steele, Sr MLB Chris Gipson, Jr P Pete Kontodiakos, and Returner Tony Drake.

After winning the MWC Colorado Stare will goto Las Vegas to play in the Las Vegas Bowl against Arizona State (8-4) who finished 5th in the Pac 10.

This years BCS bowls are:
Rose- #4 Michigan (11-1) vs #19 Oregon (10-2)
Fiesta- #5 Ohio State (10-2) vs #10 Fresno State (12-0)
Orange- #13 Clemson (11-2) vs #15 Rutgers (11-1)
Sugar- #3 Arkansas (12-1) vs #6 Texas (10-2)
National Championship- #2 Alabama (10-2) vs #1 Nebraska (12-1)

There is some conroversy surrounding the national championship game with Alabama taking part despite not winning the SEC. Arkansas beat Alabama fairly easy early in the season, and If they win the Sugarbowl Big while the BCS championship game is a close game coming down to the last second, Arkansas might be able to find a way to jump to the top of the polls despite not playing in the big game.
