A little dramatic, wouldn't you say? Are you implying that the Red Wings will fold or relocate if they miss the playoffs for a couple years?

The Sabres are actually scoring goals in the last couple of games. What sorcery is this?

Hahaha, not that far.
But I don't see them selling out every night like they have been.

pietasterp, I agree.
I was wondering what kind of return the Wings could get for Datsyuk and Zetterberg.
But those guys will never be dealt. Both took home-town discounts and I think if you deal them, then the 'culture' of the Wings changes dramatically both on and off the ice.

Like you said, once they get healthy, I think they'll compete and hopefully threaten to score more than 2 goals on a more consistent basis.
But I think they're a very mediocre team which desperately needs to get at least 1, if not 2 stars under the age of 28.

All charges against Varlamov dropped.

Spoiler

On the ice stuff, MacKinnon is awesome. Think he's going to be the Avs' best player in 2 years.

Good for Downie, I like him. Hope he gets a nice pay day in the Summer as well, but I prefer PAP over him. Both players don't believe in defending in their own zone though, they're awful at it. I found this interesting though,

Steve Downie - 3 goals in 33 games with the Avs.
Max Talbot - 3 goals in 23 games with the Avs.

Downie obviously has more points as he's an underrated playmaker. Thought he had more than 3 goals, Talbot has played really well lately. He's relentless on the forecheck. Still don't think the Avs got enough back for Downie though.

Oh yeah, Philly totally got the better end of that deal.

Still annoys me to see Andy Greene without the C.

Re: The Official 2013-14 Regular Season Talk Thread

Talbot is an awesome player to have. A great piece. I'm sure he'll find his way on to a couple more Cup teams before it's all said and done. Players like that win Cups.

But Downie fits in Philly. Dude looks like Pauly from Rocky. That was a good, relatively fair trade. The thing is, you know what Talbot is gonna give you. To a degree, that's a plus. Not much up and down with him. Downie, on the other hand, can be great when with great players. We have/had enough grinder-types that we didn't need Talbot any more. For such a short stint, he was well liked.

Still... He was a dirty Penguin first. I don't think that ever left my mind. Talbot's really good but... HE WAS A PEN. Yuck.
