Which Teams Are Overrated/Underrated?

Pretty simple concept. Which teams do you think are getting too much hype coming in to 2016 and which ones are people sleeping on?

Teams may be overrated but still good enough to win a division and make playoffs, just as an underrated team may miss out but be a lot better then people are expecting.

Overrated:
GB
CAR
PIT
OAK
KC
HOU

Underrated:
IND
SD
DEN
DET

Up top, I've been seeing a lot of SB predictions for Carolina and I think everyone is still stuck in 2015 with that. Still see a division title, but not the 15-1 powerhouse we saw last year. Same deal for PIT, that defense does not inspire confidence but Ben/Antonio/LeVeon will probably score them to the playoffs. I feel similar on GB, but see them surprisingly miss out on the playoffs. Oakland is getting too much hype for their own good, and while KC may be the best of the West bunch, I'm not certain they will be able to replicate last year. They started 1-5 and got stupid hot... what happens if they don't? To round it out, Houston barely won that terrible division last year, just not certain on them. Of this bunch, I see them embarrassing me the most with this prediction because that roster looks good on both sides.

On the bottom, I only see Denver making the playoffs of the group. Their defense will continue to be ridiculously good, and will carry them to a WC as long as their QB situation doesn't become a turnover machine (and exactly why Sanchez was shown the door). The South seems wide open, but it was the Colts for so long and Luck is still there. Probably a year away on JAC and a couple with TEN, so I could see IND sneaking up on everyone. SD has been ravaged by injuries over the last few years, but Rivers continues to be a great QB. If the defense gives them anything, they could be a surprise. Lastly, I'm buying that late hot streak by Detroit. They simplified things offensively and it benefitted their whole cast. It's funny to think CJ is gone but their offense may be more balanced for it.

What are your overrated/underrated? BRING ON THE HATE.

Re: Which Teams Are Overrated/Underrated?

I think the Packers are grossly overrated.

I've been re-watching the Americas Game series, it's amazing how the talent pool has dried up in Green Bay after their 2010 Super Bowl win.

Arizona isn't going to win anything of significance.

The real Carson Palmer was on full display on January 24th. The Cards are a very good team, perhaps the fullest cupboard in the League. But when the chips are down, Palmer won't get it done. He barely made it to the NFCC Game last year. It took another Titanic Packers defensive meltdown to get him there.

I think Oakland and Jacksonville will make their move this year. I won't be surprised if they both win 10 games.

And the Seahawks are underrated.

4 years in a row with the #1 scoring defense. Perhaps the most under-appreciated stats of my lifetime.

If that D was in New York, Dallas, or Puttsburgh, nobody would shut up about it. They'd be runaway favorites to win the Super Bowl.

Bortles is in his 3rd year as a starter, which has historically been the point where QBs become elite.

They were 14th in points last year, 18th in yards. No reason they can't be a top 10 unit this year with all their talent.

They had 5 top 50 draft picks starting on D last year, *without* Dante Fowler. They landed the best corner in the draft, and Myles Jack was a steal. It looks like they have the horses to jump to being a middle-of-the-road D. (31st last year)

In this day and age, that's enough to be a Super Bowl contender.

Is there a particular reason you don't think they'll be as good? Not necessarily record-wise because I don't think they'll go 15-1 either (I'm guessing 16-0 perfect season SB Champs), but talent-wise.

The ups and downs year to year in the NFL. It's hard to count on a team to be good year in and year out and we fall in to the trap of just assuming what happened last year will happen this year.

Not sure if the defense can keep up their play with the roster strategy they employ. They've got great pieces in the front 7 but the backend could easily regress without Norman if their replacement options don't step up. I believe they're paying their safeties the lowest amount in the NFL. Can they squeeze out the same production? I know they believe in the younger DB's they're starting this season but I want to see it on the field.

What will keep them competitive and still atop the South is their coaching IMO. McDermott staying put this offseason was great for them m, and Rivera's ascension has been noted.

And when you have Newton at QB, you've got a chance plus the return of Benjamin and I'm looking at Funchess to make an impact this year as well.

Just not ready to crown them in the NFC. I like Arizona a lot, Seattle and Minnesota more. And it's just straight up hard to go to back to back SB's with that target on your back. Obviously, no team is perfect and none of the named are head and shoulders above another so it wouldn't surprise me to see Carolina right there again. Just not chalking it up yet.
