Re: 2014-15 Hot Stove League Thread

Looks like I have to make a trip to Chicago in late August. Cubs play the Braves the 23rd (might get to see Lester pitch, depends on how the rotation works out) and Boston plays the White Sox the 24th, 25th, and 26th.

Adding Gregerson AND Neshek to any bullpen solidifies it. Great signings by the Stros.

%*^*%$^%*^(%&% YOU HOUSTON!

Man....it really looks like the Jays are going to have to make trades to fix up the bullpen.

As for Lester I think one issue was the tax implications. While watching MLB-N last night they showed on the crawl a couple tweets from Rosenthal that basically said that Lester wouldn't take the best monetary deal but that LA/SF had a huge hurdle as California is one of the highest income tax states in the union.

What's the tax situation like in Illinois?

Illinois was the lowest of the 3 states involved. Something like a 10% difference between Illinois and Cali as far as I understand.

Mariners working on a deal with Melky Cabrera. They are planning a counter offer for Matt Kemp.

Dbacks listening to offers for Wade Miley. Red Sox and Marlins showing interest.

Well I think SD and SF are on his no trade list. LAD is not. I think that's why he is always matched up with the Dodgers.

I'm surprised they even signed here honestly. I love it so far though

If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure the Padres are not on his list since he is from San Diego.
