I've seen a lot of people say this, but it doesn't really snow in Salt Lake or Vancouver either. All the snow events were in mountains outside of those cities too.

Yeah that's true but Sochi is more of a summer city than SLC and Vancouver.

It's not like Shaun was the only one complaining about the course, as it's been consistently said it was awful. Sal Masakala brought a good point that the ice for figure skating is put to be in perfect condition, so why not for the snow events? It doesn't help that it's 50s - 60s, but even still, they could have made it better.

Also, seeing the cross country skiing was hilarious, because pretty much the only snow there was for the track. The woods sections were barren of snow when not on the course.

Yep I laughed at the track. They should have picked anywhere else in Russia if they just wanted them in Russia. Maybe they wanted the "global warming" winter games.

Re: 2014 Sochi Olympics

People are really stretching to find things to complain about after the hotel fiasco. I see basically zero difference in the overall quality of the venues. Outside of the halfpipe, of course, which was not of the quality it should have been. Probably wouldn't be hearing much about that if White had still medaled.

Re: 2014 Sochi Olympics

The skiing events were tough too. I remember how they kept mentioning that the later into the competition they got, the softer the snow was(cause temperatures were warming up) so it was harder for the people to ski on it.

And on the moguls, for some reason, they added an extra mogul at the end(something most competitors weren't used to) and it messed people up a fair bit.

But like people said, the venues themselves do look fine.

Re: 2014 Sochi Olympics

Yeah other than the hotel fiasco, I don't really have many complaints. I'm still picking up my jaw off the floor from this.
