Society is getting ridiculous with all the video game stuff. It's a game, it's not real. There are specific ratings given to games for a reason.

Sent from me, duh.
WTF you want to kill kids, though? Even if it is "only a game" that's pretty ****ed up. Not to mention the backlash Ubisoft would get would be pretty hefty and they would probably have to raise the rating to Adult.

Not saying just kids, I'm saying that all the complaining about games in general. It's called a video game, a imaginary world. I'm tired of hearing about "controversial" things like GTA and CoD. Why don't people focus on things that are happening in the real world. And stop blaming stuff on video games and just say the truth that those individuals are ****ed up.

And yes in if the game fits or my style of play fits I would kill a kid IN A GAME. Perfect example of the fact is Skyrim. If my play style is a Thief/Murderer then allow me to be that. If someone sees me I can kill him/her before she tells however if a little kid sees me I can't do nothing about it at all while she goes and runs to the guards.

Not trying to snap at you or anyone else in here, it's just the people and media in general that take things way to seriously.

Re: Assassin's Creed III

Maybe people don't want to be bombarded everywhere with how bad the world is? Some people play video games to temporarily escape the real world and want to play something that is fun, semi-realistic, but not nearly as heavy as the real world. The controversy with the last Modern Warfare was understandable. I played through the level, but it was nice to at least have the choice of skipping that scene considering what your character is doing. Some people don't want to do that stuff, though and these game makers have to have everybody in mind when they make these decisions because they want to sell as many copies as possible. A game where you're allowed to kill kids probably wouldn't sell or much less hit the shelves for that matter. I don't see the problem with excluding that. I'm not sure why people would want to imagine that or "step into the shoes" of that kind of character.

Re: Assassin's Creed III

My only argument was the idea that somehow these kids are going to get in the way when I've never accidentally killed a civilian in combat in any of the other games.

I can see why companies force this invincible kids stuff, it's easy to see all the sensationalist headlines about the kid killing game. Personally I find it backwards, and actually more than a bit disturbing, that you can slaughter thousands of lifelike humans in the most gory and visceral ways but to suggest you can simply hit a button and a virtual kid fall over and not move is considered repugnant.

Because kids are a line no one wants to cross. EVER. No one has a problem beating the hooker up with a baseball bat or running over that 80 year old grandma because they can detach themselves from it. Once you introduce children...that's when a game is serious about its content and as such, others will take it serious.

It'd be like killing defenseless puppies or kittens. Except WORSE.

Re: Assassin's Creed III

I'm with burns on this one. I'm not sure why it is perfectly fine with people to kill adults and lifelike humans as much as you want in video games but the second you add a kid to the mix you are a terrible human being. Killing is killing. It's just a video game. I shouldn't be restricted. In games like AC killing civilians has always been frowned upon and desynched you. Just make it to where if you harm a kid in the game you are immediately desynched.

Like someone mentioned earlier the games give you a choice on how you play it. That controversial CoD mission allowed you to skip it. It would be your choice what you did to the children in the game. You wouldn't be forced to kill them.

So Duke it is easier for you to detach yourself if you are killing an 80 year old grandma in the game but harming a kid is horrible? Come on now.

Re: Assassin's Creed III

All you have to do is look at real-world events and see that the general population considers the killing or harming of a child very different and a lot more serious than that of an adult. It's pretty obvious to me.

The best solution would actually be to not put them in the game at all.
