With the talk that the Knicks will be losing Fields to Toronto this trade is just a bad idea. When you consider that sources are saying the Knicks would match any backloaded offer to Lin this leaves us very thin at the two guard. I can see letting our young players go if I thought they were a piece or two from being a title contender but I have yet to see them show it. Now they're going to let 2 promising young guards go because they are in win-now mode? Can they win more than one playoff game before they decide now is the time? Nash is great but he's 39!!

My wishlist:

1- Sign Felton
2- Match Lin
3- Match Novak
4- Sign JR (I have a feeling someone is going to make him a ridiculous offer though)
5- Sign Mikael Pietrus if JR goes elsewhere
6- Pursue Marcus Camby
7- Inquire about Rashard Lewis
8- If all else fails in the frontcourt, re-sign Jared Jeffries

Gotta go with what we got. These GMs are playing Texas Hold Em with these poison pill contracts.

Now it's time to overpay for Lin, we don't have a choice.

The backup PG will be meh. I guess I want Felton? Not really though. If he goes elsewhere then what in the world are we looking at? Going after Jameer? Not gonna lie, didn't watch a single Magic game last year so I have no idea what his deal has been lately.

I'm just not sure Lin is worth the price of this backloaded deal.

With Chandler, Anthony, Stoudemire and Lin, they'd be committed to nearly $90 MM in Lin's third year.

Their penalty would be ridiculous even for a rich man. They won't have exceptions and we are expecting them to win on just veteran minimums to fill the rest of the roster/bench?

Just not seeing it. You build to win a title. The Knicks have a four year window with these guys. That team isn't a championship team with a bunch of nobodies on the bench.

Then again neither is the team with Felton starting. So I don't know.

Maybe you take the penalty hit to give people hope. I'm not gonna be fooled.

Isn't Felton pretty much done? The few times I saw him last year he looked awful. Granted it was the blazers and everyone looked awful, but still.

Re: The 2012 New York Knicks: The Filler Year?

I don't see the Knicks having much of a choice with Lin. They can't just let him walk now that there is no real good backup plan. I'm not sold on him being worth all that money either but I'd rather not count on Felton or someone of that caliber being the starting PG.

Bringing in Kidd would be the ideal move now but he will probably go back to Dallas now that they whiffed on Deron Williams.
