Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Just finished the 3rd season with 6'6 Scoring SG for the Suns.
In my first year, since I started it before the first patch, they completely gutted the team. If you look at the "Defend(Protect?) Your Homecourt" billboard (get it when you make the starting lineup), I'm the only player still here from then, and it was only a year ago!
Anyway, finished the first season with both ROY and 6th man honors, also made the All NBA 2nd team. We were mercilessly bounced out of the 2nd round of the playoffs 4-0 by the Thunder.
Second year, finally made the starting lineup after they finally traded Vince Carter and got Steve Nash back. Starting lineup was now Javale McGee, Channing Frye, Nick Batum, Me, Steve Nash. Decided to stop playing until they fixed the trading glitch, because I was satisfied and didn't want the CPU to keep tinkering with it.
After the patch, fired it back up and finished the season 27ppg, Most Improved Player, All NBA 1st Team, All NBA Defensive 2nd Team, and got voted to ASG. Slaughtered 4-1 by the Warriors in the second round of the playoffs.
Third year, it just all came together. Finished the season with 31ppg, best record in the NBA (56-26), League MVP, Scoring Title, All NBA Team, All NBA Defensive Team.
Playoffs:
Mavericks gave us a bit of a scare in the first round after they came back from 0-2 to tie up the series, but we won the next two. We disposed of the Nuggets 4-1 (should have been 4-0, but they were on fire in game 4). So, we are finally in the Western Conference finals, and guess who we get to face? Yup, the dang Thunder!
I was a bit nervous, but I felt pretty good as we beat them the final two times in the regular season by a margin of 10+ each game. We quickly go up 2-0 at home, before hitting the road to OKC. They put up a big fight in game 3, but we're able to hold off a 4th quarter surge and go up 3-0. They win a nailbiter in Game 4, and we finally put them out of their misery (by 19!) in Game 5.
Finals:
Now it's finals time, and we are playing the Heat. Series started ok, with us winning the first game at home by 10. Then it turned ugly. We dropped the 2nd home game by 13, and then the Heat spanked us on their home court in Games 3 and 4 by 14 and 20 respectively. We are now down 1-3 with Game 5 on their home court. Peachy. My team showed up big time in Game 5 though, and we won in a 4th Qtr hustle by 5 points. Game 6, we thrashed 'em by 17. McGee had a HUGE Game 6 with 35 points, 17 boards, and 3 blocks.
Game 7, time to put up or shut up. Doesn't look good from the get go, as they go up 34 to 20 at the end of the first. We come back a bit in the 2nd and it's Heat 56 Suns 50. Third quarter is a bit lackluster, as all we pretty much do is trade baskets, but we did tie it up going into the fourth. We then end up smashing them for a good 5-6 minutes (I just couldn't miss, went 6-6 during that stretch) in the fourth to go up by 7 with 5 minutes left. Then, me and Batum both hit a three pointer with about 2 minutes to go, and we are up by 10. They make a couple of shots, but now they have to foul. Awesome. Steve Nash is one of the best free throw shooters in the game, and I'm shooting 94% free throws in the playoffs. We, of course, make six consecutive free throws in the final minute (4 for Nash, two for me), and we win the title. I make Finals MVP.
Third season was bittersweet though. We finally won the championship, but Nash had already announced he was retiring (he's 40 in the game at this point). At least we got to send him off with a ring though.
Now, it's time for contract negotiations. Phoenix is offering 12.9mil per for 5 seasons. Sweet deal, but Orlando is offering 14.5mil per for 5 seasons, and I always said to myself that if I didn't stay with the Suns, I'd go to Orlando to play with Howard. Unfortunately for the Magic, Phoenix accepted that I wanted more money and upped my contract to 14.11 million for 5 seasons, so I will remain in Suns uniform.
Simmed the off-season, MAJOR MOVES have taken place. Frye opted out of his final year and went to free agency. Fortunately for us, both Melo and Milsap opted out of their contracts as well and we got them both. Now, the starting lineup is Raymond Felton (hope the team trades him for more of a passing PG later in the season), Me, Melo, Milsap, McGee. I really hate that Batum had to go to the bench, because he came up big for us in some key games in the playoffs, and played generally well throughout the past couple of seasons. While I will like having his firepower off the bench, I can't help feel that he would be better utlized as a starter for another team, so I'm honestly hoping we trade him somewhere he can shine like he deserves. I have a feeling he's going to request a trade pretty soon into the season anyway.
The biggest move, however, was the Magic. I didn't go there, but LeBron opted for FA and now he and Howard are on the same team. That's probably going to cause a lot of problems for the East. Bosh left the Heat too (can't exactly remember where he went), and only Wade opted to stay in Miami. Heat have two huge holes in their roster now. Season 4 should be interesting.
I also have two other MP files, a 2nd Year 6'3 All Around PG for the Hornets and a rookie 7'0 center for the Warriors. I'll probably delete both of those files and start a new PG once the trade deadline passes (March 15) and 2K has had time to get all the rosters updated. So, it'll be nice to take a break (been goin hard at this game since release day) and play something else. I still have Uncharted 3 sealed up, so I'll have plenty of time to get into that.
