I'd think it's also largely dependent on who can be contacted, who is willing to be contacted, and then who is agreeable to the terms offered. Like the above poster said, I'd guess there's a large chunk of players who either just don't want to be involved in a video game or put a larger price tag on their likeness than 2K could afford to dish out.

Alright but your basing that off the guy's entire CAREER. Of course Magic is one of the top 3 players in NBA history.

But was Lebron's 2009-2010 better than Magic's 90-91 season. Definitely

Was Wade's 2009-2010 better? maybe not but to give him the benefit of the doubt his defense during that season was better than's Magic for the 90-91 season.

I get what you are trying to say and if we were comparing Career's then you'll have a extremely valid point.

But where not, where debating a 90-91 season and the upcoming season. and trust me I think Lebron at 25 is better than Magic at age 31.

Also keep in mind the structure of a players rights in the contract. Guys like Michael Jordan, and Charles Barkley are not part of the retired players union like most guys are. For alot of the retired players all 2k has to do is pay the union a lump sum and they get X amount of players with that. But with the bigger players, Jordan, Barkley they have the rights to there likeness. I know they said for instance that they wanted to add Kareem but he is a hard person to get a hold of. Some guys for better or worse may not want to be in a video game. Personally I think it would be an honor, but I guess money changes people.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jacque is finally off the free agents list. Though, James Edwards played for the '96 Bulls in the playoffs (not included on roster) but he is included on the '90 Pistons. So I guess they could have thrown two James' out there. Maybe they did not find it worthwhile to create an accurate, greyed Buddha, as he just played 28 minutes in '96.

Otherwise, I understand the constraints that come along with putting together classic teams like these with all real players. I'm just glad they came through and at least got the ball rolling. I'll take classic teams with 5-8 real players and editable generics over no classics at all.

2K isn't running around beating doors down. This type of stuff is handled by the Players Association. Retired players are not difficult to track down considering the majority of them collect a pension.

Besides, should we REALLY be expected to believe that 2K can afford the rights to all those Legends teams they've been throwing in the game for years but NOT immortals like Shandon Anderson?

Believe me, money/rights was NOT an issue. That's just the 2K spin machine making excuses for another subpar roster effort.
