Then what are these "tokens"? Honestly, when I look at the image of the slot machine I see MT, tokens, etc, so I am curious.

I get that people don't give a damn one way or the other about "simulated gambling," gambling mechanics, or whatever. That's cool. But it's an actual thing that exists.

The difference is that this generation can actually gamble in video games. This isn't a "think if the children" issue; it's a moral and psychological issue. These publishers and content creators are making gambling seem normal and expected in video games. Kids and adults alike are being primed for the normalization of gambling, and I don't see how people can ignore it. In what world is a slot machine and a roulette wheel considered "surprise mechanics"? It's really sad how people can see these things in an E rated BASKETBALL GAME and think it's perfectly fine. The grooming process is working and will only result in more addicted individuals and depressed souls.

“This isn’t a think of the children issue.”

“It’s a grooming process! Think of the children!”

...you realize people gamble on actual NBA basketball, right? That’s a thing that happens. And they do it with real money. The NBA allows it, profits off of it, and the nba also promotes itself heavily to kids.

If you were in any way serious about your hysteria, you’d boycott the NBA altogether. Not just 2K, but the entire league and all of its products. But since you’re here right now, I’m guessing that’s not going to happen.

“Depressed souls.” I don’t even have a comment here. That’s just a thing you said.

The tokens are another form of currency within the mode. VC is used to buy packs. MT points to used for the auction house and contracts. The tokens were used to buy certain cards directly.

Had to dip cause I was on break. But my point still remains. Anyone who thinks Take Two didnt deliberately design this "game" to replicate gambling is 100% wrong. People's arguement of "it's not gambling because you're not spending money" is honestly valid, but it ignores the fact that gambling doesn't have to involve money at all. Gambling involves things of value. You do "this" for a randomized chance to get "that". In 2K's case, "this" is going to involve some sort of token or currency system, and anyone who thinks otherwise was born tomorrow. If this "game" was truly free and randomized, 2K would just give you a random gift at the end of each basketball game. There would be no slot machines or roulette wheels to play. It would truly be random. Unfortunately, that's not what Take Two is doing. Take Two is exploiting addictive personalities and normalizing this behavior. Their agenda is working.

Yes, their agenda of giving away free stuff to incentivize people to spend more time playing the game, so they can get more free stuff, while charging no extra cash whatsoever in the process. Utterly diabolical.

No, and I never will. I have done other forms of indirect gambling and felt like a disgrace after I realized what I was doing. It's easy to get addicted to simple stuff like this. The house always wins
