Slightly off topic but as someone who only played NBA 2K15 a handful of times, those after-basket celebrations were absolutely maddening! How did that slip into the final product? My brothers and I struggled to compose ourselves every time Nik Stauskas would hit a mid-range jumper in the second quarter then began celebrating like he just won a playoff game.

Not to skew too far off course, but an NBA game in '61 (Chamberlain's 27.2 rebound year) featured 147 rebound opportunities. Rodman's prime years featured only 84 opportunities. As such, looking flatly at one's per game average could skew actual rebound ability.

In regards to Team Rebound Share (the number of a team's rebounds garnered by a single player) and Total Rebound Percentage, Rodman blows away both Russell and Chamberlain. That's to say, if Rodman had played in a league where there were 147 shots going up every night, his per game average could possibly eclipse 30 at its peak.

It is wild that in 2015, people still look at overall ratings and draw their own conclusions from that. "No way Durant should be 3 points lower than LeBron."

Listen, the overall ratings only speak on which type of player that player is. Remember, 2K introduced Player Labels into the game.

Durant will most likely be a Scoring Machine.
LeBron will most likely be a Point Forward or and All Around SuperStar

So essentially, you can't look at the overall rating and say, "How is Durant -3 vs. LeBron" when they have DIFFERENT skill sets.

Let me give you analogy. Imagine animals had predatory ratings. Elephant is a 88 overall and the Crocodile is an 86.

Looking at that you think, "All the elephant can do is squash someone. He isn't the killer that a Crocodile is."

Now, this is true but the Elephant excels in different physical categories than a Croc. Same with the croc, he has different survival skills than the Elephant. The Elephant is a Superheavyweight Bruiser. The Crocodile would be a Crafty Opportunist.

In other words, The Elephant is an 88 Rated Bruiser while the Croc is an 86 Rated Opportunist. No need to compare because they bring you different things. The 88 vs. 86 is not saying the Elephant is "better."

Yeah I was really shocked he acknowledged things like Dwight hitting fadeaway a over good defense and cheesy gameplay . Wonder what this means for blocking though. Hopefully tracking is improved

Is Steve Kerr the greatest 3 point shooter of all time because he has the highest percentage? Shawn Bradley has the highest block percentage of all time, GOAT shot blocker?

Not that Rodman is so farfetched but just saying there's more to basketball than stats, and Moses is the greatest from the tape I've seen.

But "tape" can't be used as factual evidence when people see different things on tape. You have to use numbers. That is all a game is, a bunch of numbers and probability kicks in.

Not at all. But that is why we have "modifiers" with the shot ratings.
