Re: NBA 2K24 MyPlayer Thread

The 10 wins for elite was easily the most annoying thing about this year's game for me. Took me like 8 hours until I finally hard carried a couple idiots for the last 5 wins.

I personally love the badge regression. Anything to get people less dependent on badges is a win in my book. I'm sire it will be patched to appease people though.

Running with a 3nD SG this year. No dunks at all but 89 layups so I'm feasting on those and floaters when people close put too hard on me. I'm having a ball with the game so far and they finally made MyCareer fames dun to play as an added bonus.

Another thing I hate that is tied to the Rise/Elite system is some of the rep rewards. In 2K23 all you had to do was complete the Rebirth quest by reaching 90 OVR. In 2K24 you gotta reach Rookie III rep to go shirtless.

I don't think you start gaining rep until you are able to complete those quests.

Re: NBA 2K24 MyPlayer Thread

For me, I would like to see a return of Create a Legend mode like in the PS3/360. That way you get to play an offline MyCareer mode, but you get to use a rookie player. I can't remember remember if it was any current player or just rookies. Where you wouldn't get the restrictions of what current MyCareer gives you. They could literally structure it like The W. Where you're really just playing games, practice, and move to the next game. VC doesn't matter in the mode. Your player just gets better as you progress.

Starting out at 60 OVR sucks, especially as an offline gamer. The whole story this year is about being the most hyped prospect since Bron and becoming the GOAT, yet you start out at 60. Like I said before, you can start out as a 75 or 85 in The W. I'd be happy to start out at 75 OVR. Unless you're a tall center, starting at a 60 OVR. At least as a center, you can get rebounds and blocks with good timing and get the occasional hustle points at a 60. But at other positions, you need the ability to be impactful off rip. I always end up thinking that I should just do a Player Lock career in MyNBA that way I can avoid this BS. But, I prefer the structure of MyCareer and the progression compared to Player Lock.

In general I agree badges suck, but if they're going to be in, the way they did regression doesn't make a whole lot of sense from even a design standpoint (unless of course you factor in the greed component).

You could also use veterans. I remember picking Jason Kidd though I got bored and didn't go back I wonder how old can you play with a CAL player.

Re: NBA 2K24 MyPlayer Thread

I always liked the concept of badges, but not the implementation of badges. I like badges when they are used for specific situations/skills that a rating can't cover. But, I don't like when there are badges for every little skill where the applicable rating should suffice. It makes having a specific badge necessary when in theory the applicable rating should handle it. It's like when they had a Hands badge. Honestly a lot of the defensive badges aren't necessary since the applicable rating is already there. Perimeter defense and interior defense should handle most of the defensive badges. Or Rebound Chaser when there are Rebound ratings lol.

My favorite implementation of Badges/abilities was All Pro 2k8. Yes there were under the hood attributes, but the gameplay was built around the Abilities and the level of star players. That's my issue with current games having Attributes and Badges/Abilities. If you're going to use both, then Badges should be just be specific skills that ratings can't cover

Yep agreed. It seems like maybe an unintended benefit to me as a badge *****.

In general re: badges, I agree with illwill; I liked when they were first introduced as a way to capture things that weren't included in the ratings. But it's gotten to the point where it just basically replaces ratings in a lot of cases now and are often too overpowered to the point of breaking the gameplay IMO.
