As few others have mentioned, the clinch game is too hard for me on expert, like I can't really pull off the clinch and knee someone like I could with shogun on experienced or advanced. So I try to stay away from clinch except when they try to take me down. Although I need to try to go for the slams more often in the clinch so I will be working on that.

I didn't really like the how the sway works on it's own, but I love the counter striking. I also like catching leg kicks and then leg sweep them to take them down.

I JUST learned how to posture up yesterday night, since I've been playing all night. So I am happy for that, since It was getting bs, since I kept getting stand up as I didn't know how to posture up and gnp.

Btw, it was nice to find this forum since I've been looking to find a place to talk about the demo since the community forum is down.
here's a tip for clinch on expert. Use shogun for example. Do it to machida or rashad, not rampage because he can transition spam your block and transfer from plum defense to plum offence (as can shogun but it doesn't work against rampage). ...OK so initiate single collar tie and immediately do a minor transition to get plum and then IMMEDIATELY push away on the right stick to block transitions...I also push the left stick towards especially near the cage. wait for the mto attempt a transition and as soon as you've blocked it, immediately LB knee and then return to transition blocking again. Sometimes you can get 2 knee's off, sometimes you get taken down though too.

My problem with the clinch system is there seems to be ZERO auto-transition blocking which means positions are being switched too often and too easily (unless you're in rampage's MT clinch).

A thought on ratings: you see the action list and look at all the character's level 3 stuff. It's all big bombs and headkicks - everyone's jab's and straights are level 1...they've added an un-needed incentive to live with lb being held down. I'm kind of getting back into the game though and can win often on expert. I just don't really enjoy fighting rampage, and still strongly disagree with the change in jab's straights from last year.

We need a startegy or a how-to thread about many of the small changes that have been made. Right now I have no idea what this posture system is but have still been able to get mount and win with ground and pound.

I have played at least 20 fights or so on expert and was disappointed. I won almost all my fights with the losses coming during flash knockouts. The times the cpu did take me down it was to easy to get back up. I really have to log some more time before I decide but part of my intrest is fading.
I agree.

Ground and Pound Posturing

For guys not sure how to posture. It is really easy. If they are holding on to your head or arms. You must first break free with a MINOR transition. Once you are free. You can deliver the booms. It is just like the stand up game. Holding the LEFT Stick TOWARDS the opponent will deliever strong punches.

So holding Left stick towards the fighter is how to bring big bombs once you break free.

Postives - More powerful shots
Negatives - Transitions become easier for guy on bottom, Slower punches

Yea I hate this to. Why not have auto-transition blocking on for clinch work too. I guess because the Mauy Thai knees might of been to powerful. But either way it makes the clinch game more transition spamming and less strikes.

So one thing I really dont like, but havent had time to test..... the auto block with transitions. It will help ground and pound but also took all the chess match away from the ground.

Now I havent had the chance to play vs another skilled ground user, but whats the goal with transitions? Last year you tried to transistion when the other guy left an opening, now you just do 2-3 attempts? While I was on the ground I would just transistion a couple times and take mount. There didnt seem to be any reason why and I dont like that.

Will someone explain why this is good for the ground game? I did hate the punch, block, punch, block, from last year but this year it seems like guys will just spam transitions...... How do you pick an opening?

And I am with darlon on why have transiton block in the game if it auto does it. I get the fact the ground and pound is better, but I dont feel like it did a good thing for ground game. Maybe someone can shed some light that makes me feel different. I have already read the whole thread (well at least most of it).

If they are going to transition spam, punish them. Just reverse their transitions and that will make them not want to wildly attempt them.

I see what your saying but not quite what I meant. A guy can space it out so you dont know exacly when he would do it but by his 3rd attempt he would pass.
