Tidux whos supposedly an industry insider on twitter who has been right about every firmware update so far. He had stated that 1.8 update in august was supposed to have 3d support and a media playback function which everyone is assuming means an mp3 player. He also said 3d support was bumped to earlier in order compete with microsofts announcement.

As stated....right now there is no option to import in the SotS for PS4 and that would likely have to be patched in.
I don't think we are seeing any more patches at this point.
Sony(parent) waited a bit too long for this dev team to take care of this for '14 IMO.

Hey Knight, I might be wrong but I thought that the way it worked on previous PS3 versions was as long as the mp3's were already on your HDD, you didn't need to import anything. I thought that once you get into the SotS menu, all the mp3's that you already have on your console (along with all the on disc music) automatically appeared in the left column and you just need to add the tracks you want in the game to the correct playlist in the right column. I would imagine the ability to put the songs on the PS4 in the first place will be a function that comes along with the (alleged) firmware update that includes a media player.

As I said, I may be remembering this wrong since I haven't messed with SotS since MLB 13 was released over a year ago, but I guess I'm confused about what you meant by "no option to import." Unless you are referring to the chants, cheers & jeers which I never cared much about, I just want my music back in the game. For me (and of course many others) it increases my long term enjoyment of the game tremendously. I guess I just don't want to give up hope for SotS this year on PS4 just yet since we still have like 9 or 10 months before MLB 15 drops.

Re: Sounds of the show on ps4 ?

Yeah, I sold my ps3 last year so I cannot remember how it worked exactly now. But I am interested in seeing what happens if/when Sony updates the firmware at least. Part of me still thinks things will work for this game if Sony ever gets off of their behinds on this issue.

You might be right.
I'll check it out in a bit.
I used SotS....but not a ton...so I'm not completely familiar.
There are some options on the PS3 version menu not there on the PS4 version menu though.

Re: Sounds of the show on ps4 ?

I don't know how accurate it's but I just read an article on "gamepur" which stated that a Sony employee leaked that DLNA was coming in 2015 and mp3/video player was planned to be released during the holiday season (if not sooner) of 2014. If this is true it's terrible news because not only did custom sounds not make the show but probably won't make other fall release titles either.

He also said a bunch of stuff prior to the 1.7 update that ended up being false, which he immediately spun into Sony holding back features.

I'm sure he knows people who have some sort of angle in the business, but he's throwing crap against the wall and seeing what sticks.

The difference is that in the PS3 version (even this years), in the game itself you still have to pull music from your HDD into the Music Player Menu in the game that had "In-Game Cues", "Chants", "Yells", "JukeBox". So there is an additional step of getting music that was on your HDD and "importing" them into the game itself and then you would assign the music to SOTS from there. The problem is...that menu does not exist in the PS4 version which has been mentioned in this thread somewhere...which is why we are still facing a problem if Sony does provide an MP3 firmware update. Either that menu would have to be created/patched in the PS4 version to follow the same format of adding music or if somehow the PS4 can pull direct from your HDD unlike the PS3 version.
