The upcoming firmware update for PS4 should be released soon and it appears that it will enable 3D blu ray playback. However, there has been no mention about mp3 support for this update.

Yeah this makes sense because everyone is asking for 3D blu ray playback. smh... That is a nice feature for those with 3D tvs, but I'm really hopeful that mp3 playback sneaks into this update.

From what I understand firmware update 1.8 scheduled for late next month supposedly has mp3 playback. 3d functionality was gonna be in that update as well but because xbox announced it was adding 3d playback Sony bumped up the 3d firmware to compete. Pretty sure mp3 will still be next month though.

I still think that we are past that point now for '14.
As stated....right now there is no option to import in the SotS for PS4 and that would likely have to be patched in.
I don't think we are seeing any more patches at this point.
Sony(parent) waited a bit too long for this dev team to take care of this for '14 IMO.

You may be right. But would at least like the option to see if it is capable of happening. I'm wondering if they have a way to get the tunes working if Sony does ever enable it.

Unfortunately I think that you are correct. To me the worst case scenario was that mp3 capability would be added and we wouldn't see another patch to implement it. Such an incredible game, but it feels so incomplete without the SOTS.

Seems like the most likely expectation. I just hope they add it to PS4 soon enough that other games I used custom music in (NBA and WWE) can implement it in time for their upcoming releases.
