Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition

Finally worked out a deal for BJ Upton. Sent him to Oakland.

Rays receive:
Daric Barton
Ryan Sweeney
Fernando Cabrera

Trade Value points: 11.35

Athletics receive:
BJ Upton

Trade Value points: 12.00

I am happy with the deal. IN THE GAME Barton is a OBP machine. Sweeney has decent speed, a good bat and is under team control for a few more years. Cabrera is a D rated potential pitching prospect. He doesn't have a ton of great attributes. However, he does have some velocity and his K/9 number is through the roof in AA and his overall slider for K/9 is good as well. Plus, he has a very good slider. Due to that, I figure he could be a possible ROOGY if he makes it to the big club. Right now I have him in AAA Durham.

Cabrera's nothing but a throw-in..However, i do like sweeney a lot...he brings solid defense along with an above-average bat which can be utilized every day...I don't need to share my opinion again about barton but if you're happy with him, enjoy...I do realize it's a video game...he's just ughhhh lol

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition

Okay so i have come to a point in my season where i have to get a top of the rotation, Ace pitcher, i have danced around this fact before, and wound up with two top notch prospects rather than one Ace... I now realise that as much as i like prospects, if i want to contend this year with my reds franchise, i need a dominant starter... I also realised i could take advantage of the fact that i have a lot of power bats in my lineup, and could live without one of them if it meant finding the right Ace... After a while of toying around and gauging trade interest in my hitters: Votto, Zimmerman, Bruce, Harper and Stubbs, here is what i came up with...

Reds get:
SP Matt Cain
1B Brandon Belt
CP Brian Wilson

Giants get:
SP Jacob Turner
1B Joey Votto
CP Drew Storen

My question is, for those of you who have used him in game, is Matt Cain the type of pitcher who can lead me a WS, Will Brandon Belt along with Zimmerman, Bruce, Harper and Stubbs be enough firepower to get me to a WS...

I think that Wilson is a definate upgrade at closer, and with budgets off i don't have any problems with the salary difference, plus Wilson/Chapman combo at the back of the 'pen gives me options come the 8th & 9th inning as well as being able to rest/alternate their outings...

FYI - If i went through with the trade...

Rotation
Matt Cain
Max Scherzer
Kyle McClellan
Edinson Volquez
Johnny Cueto

Lineup
Alcedes Escobar
Drew Stubbs
Jay Bruce
Ryan Zimmerman
Bryce Harper
Brandon Belt
Carlos Santana
Stephen Drew
Pitchers Spot

No, it does not become part of the game. It is just a simple spreadsheet that acts as a guidline for you to start constructing trades. It has two sections. One for pitchers and one for position players. Each potential grade is assigned 3 different point values. One for position players 18-26, another for position players 27-32 and one for position players 33+. The same goes for pitchers. One for pitchers 18-28, one for pitchers 29-33 and one for pitchers 34+.

Finally got that pitcher I needed to try and take us to the playoffs. Got Rich Harden in the third offer I sent to the A's for him, but this time we didn't offer an MLB player.

Offered up our best pitching prospect a B potential, and our next two best pitchers who are B potentials. Got Josh Willingham and Harden.

The first game that he was available he went 8 ip giving up only 1 hit and 11 k's. Hopefully we can ride him and Greinke to the playoffs.
