Re: What has made you jump up out of your seat?

Well, last night was the first time in awhile ive jumped out of mine. A few times i have hit 3 hr's with one guy, but never 4. I always hear the announcers when i come up for what will be my final at bat talking about how i would join a select club blah blah blah, jinxing me, and for me to hit some sort of anti climatic ground ball to end the journey.

Im still humble. 3 jacks in one game is a pretty awesome thing. I've only done it a handful of times on 09 or 10 combined, and i have _never_ hit 4 in a game. And i have a list of things i want to accomplish on 10 before next season. A perfect game/no hitter ( got close a few times, usually give up a hit in the 8th or so ) the cycle ( still havent. Got close a few times only to hit 2 doubles or for the guy to come up and hit a homer, or get thrown out chugging my *** around for third base by a freakin mile only to be ridiculed by the announcing staff ).

Anyways, im in toronto of all places, one that usually isnt kind to me in terms of homeruns. I really dont fare well in domes, and toronto is prolly the 2nd hardest dome for me to hit in, behind tropicana which i hate.

So the first time Pedroia comes up, i jack one with a man on. I take an early lead, and bat around early enough for him to come up again sooner than he should, and I hit number 2, and later in the game, number 3.

Im pretty much dragging the Blue Jays through the mud, who on my game this year, blow. Badly. They are holding 4th place down easily, so its not like a big deal for me to beat them. Not putting up a big effort. I get pedroia on again in the top of the 9th, thinking big deal, another time for me to NOT hit 4 homeruns. I mean honestly, the probability is freaking astronomical. It happens, it just doesnt happen to me, or happen that much period. My girlfriend walks in, I miss the first pitch. My 2 dogs are running all over the couch and im like 2-2 before i know it answering her 20 questions on what do i need washed for work, errands that need to be ran whenever i stop playing my "stupid baseball game", the whole nine.

Im practically giving up at this point on the game, since the lead i have was like 10-0, and im wrecking shop. Not that any points i score at this point will do anything but pad stats, and im ready for papelbon to come in and lock up the dub.

So after all that, the gf, the dogs, the barking, the questions, me seeing half the screen, i see the pitchers rotation wind up, and i just guess the swing as shes walking back and forth in front of the tv, I can barely hear with the 2 dogs barking at me for attention, and

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Long ball. I litterally jumped up, controller flying, dogs freaking out because i scared the **** outta them, gf jumps because i scared the crap outta her, and im doing the Homerun dance because i just airmailed my 4th home run of the game over right center field into the upperdecks of Toronto's home turf.

And it felt great.

Re: What has made you jump up out of your seat?

My jump out of my seat moment happened when I threw a perfect game with Jair Jurrgens against the Padres. In the top of the 6th, a batter hit the ball off Jair and I barely got the guy out at first with my 3B charging in. I was already nervous, because for me, my heart starts pounding in about the 3rd inning or so in both real life and in this game. In the 9th, with two out, the Padres sent to pinch hit Oscar Salazar, who for some unknown reason, had been creaming me the entire year, hitting something like .320 with 2 HR and 8 RBIs against me during the season. He hit a ball up the middle that barely hit off of Jair's leg that bounced to shortstop and I barely got him out at first by literally half a centimeter.

Re: What has made you jump up out of your seat?

I have two one for my RTTS pitcher and the other with my RTTS center fielder. My pitcher for the Yankees had a no hitter through 7 but we were down 1 to 0 to the Red Soxs due back to back errors from my short stop who is not Jeter but someone filling in after he got hurt earlier in the season. It is not my best inning of pitching as I hit the first guy then over threw 1st trying for a pick off so he gets to 2nd. A ground ball out gets him to 3rd. I get 2 bad calls on strikes and end up walking the next guy and then because I am so afraid of the over throw he ends up stealing his 2nd base of the game. I strike out the next guy with what had to be make up calls. So 2 outs bottom of the 7th and in comes Ortiz. The count goes full after 8 pitches. I throw a change up to the inside low corner which he crushes and in comes the home run screen only for it to make it foul barely. Next pitch I miss my mark on the meter with a change up to the just floats in which he crushes. Way back to our recently traded for center fielder Torii Hunter which robs him of the home run which has me jumping around saving my no hitter. Which I gave up on the first batter of the 8th who crushes my first pitch for a home run that everyone just watched fly away. I got pulled but thankfully my closer came in and got the win in extras.

Second one was my center fielder on his first game in the majors with the Angels. I come in as a pinch hitter. It is top of the 9th we are down my 4 with bases loaded and no outs. I do horrible and foul way to many balls off that I should have just let go but I am not seeing the ball well. It is a 2-2 count and I was going to just let the next pitch go when it takes to long to be a fast ball and I see it perfectly so I crush it for a grand slam that ties it. But because this is baseball and your first hit should never make you the hero of your game. The bottom of the 9th they hit a walk off home run on the first batter up that because I was so energized from my hit I mistime my jump to rob it and we lose by one. It was only time I have ever felt sick because of something I did in a video game. It was a jump up and not even a minute later a crash to floor.

Two things...

Hitting a walk off winner verse I team I can't remember now with my RTTS player. The second was just a few minutes ago, when I hit a three-run blast in the World Series to give us the eventual win and a two games to one lead in the series for the Indians.

Not to mention that homerun went 470 feet to straight center. I love hanging curves

I love hanging curves. I almost hit one out of the Polo Grounds to straight away center with one. I came with in 5 ft of having another jump out of my seat moment.

Re: What has made you jump up out of your seat?

Had a few nice moments like this last night in my Reds Franchise.

Bottom of the 9th, trailing 3-0 to the Cubs since Homer gave up a 3 run jack to Lee in the 5th. Marmol Ks Juan Francisco PH-ing in the 9 spot looking with a wicked back door curve. Phillips hits a weak pop-up, foul just short of 1B, on a first pitch meatball 2SFB.

Cabrerra works the count full and winds up at first on a ridiculously close play on a dropped 3rd strike slider away that Soto can't hang onto on the 15th pitch of the AB. Lee gets ejected in the ensuing argument at first.

Votto rips a 3-1 4 seamer down the 1B line, about a foot over Jeff Baker's out stretched glove, landing maybe 6 inches in fair territory, single-hopping off the wall right to Fukudome for a double, moving Cabrerra to 3rd.

Marmol seems to be a bit shaken at this point and promptly goes 3-0 to Rolen, prompting a get-it-over 4 seam @ 92mph down the heart of the plate that gets tattooed 431' to dead center off the top of the batter's eye to tie the game.

Marmol's totally lost it at this point and throws a first pitch change up meatball to Bruce, that gets promptly laser-beamed 415', exitting stage right about 6 inches inside the netting halfway up the foul pole for the walk off solo shot.

Like the other day I was losing to the Mariners and Ichiro robbed me of a home run two innings in a row. Luckily I did end up winning the game anyway, so my controller is still in one piece (for now).
Ok, so I am 57 games into my season and Ichiro has now robbed a home run against me for the 3rd time. And his teamate took one away later on in the same game in left field. I have had 6 HR's taken away that I can remember off hand, I don't watch baseball enough to judge, but does that number seem really high to anyone else?
