Yes, I do. In RTTS, I'm a pitcher in AA and it helps me because I can now concentrate more on pitching and other stuff.

i use guess pitch on certain counts but with feedback OFF only. This way I don't know if I actually guessed correctly but might get rewarded if I do. It makes it way too easy if people are using guess pitch with feedback on.

I do.

And if its cheating then so be it. I am only hitting .267 as a team right now. I can't imagine not using it.

Re: does anyone actually use guess pitch

Yes.

Unbelievably, ridiculously, unrealistically insane as it is.

What a total shmuck I must be.

Is the point of this thread to identify and eliminate all Guess Pitch users?

If so, boy am I dumb to admit to it

PS ... Wouldn't how easy it is to hit ... depend on your settings/sliders? Isn't it remotely, insanely possible that one could set the game at a difficulty that compensated for the benefits of Guess Pitch?

PPS ... And even if that were not true, one must wonder why a total stranger would reach out to the entire world to tell them in effect, "hey, if any other total strangers out there are playing this video game on 'x' setting, you are cheating and playing the game 'wrong' and you are not as good a player as me."

PPS ... thank you for bringing up this topic for the 736th time in this forum. I agree with you that everyone should play every video game on the exact same settings, and if anyone steps out of line, they should be treated as outcasts. If that fails to get them in line, they should be thrown to a pack of ravenous wolves.

Settle down. He made a simple comment about how he felt, that's all.

Re: does anyone actually use guess pitch

OK. I will settle down. Until the usual post comes in, to the effect of "all guess pitch users are cheaters" and/or "ya know, it's really dumb cuz the pitcher never tells you wat he is throwing in real life."

And then I will be become enraged again, like the Incredible Hulk.

Regarding guessing the pitch type: yes, you can read the pitch type if you pay attention to the ball out of the pitcher's hand, just like you can in real life. Some of us don't want to concentrate that hard on a video game, and/or can't do it for visual/attention/other reasons. It's the same idea as the different-colors-for-different-pitch-types system that MVP05 used, which I loved.

Regarding guessing the pitch location: this simulates the way that a batter looks for a ball in a certain zone; if you guess the right zone, the game gives you a head start so that you can really key in on where the pitch is going to be. I use "new" GP, so I don't know the exact location, just the zone where it will be, supposedly. The pitch may be a ball, so you have to pay attention. It also is sometimes NOT in the zone where GP says it's going to be. I'm not sure why. Maybe because GP is telling me where the pitcher INTENDS to throw the ball, not where it's ending up. In any event, this further complicates things.

Regarding guessing in general: You get bonuses for guessing right. You also get penalized for guessing wrong. You also have to deal with the fact that, as best I can tell, the CPU pitcher is noticing what you guess and adjusting accordingly. So, silly "cheater" that I am, I enjoy complicating the guessing game in this way. And I think the penalties for wrong guesses offset the bonuses for correct guesses.

There is also the option of using Guess Pitch with house rules ... for example, only guessing on first pitches, only guessing with a full count, only guessing with two strikes, only guessing locations and not types or vice versa, or some combination of the above.

Re: does anyone actually use guess pitch

It's not too far off from MVP's hitter's eye, I agree with that. Basically, I'll look for a fastball when the pitcher gets behind and if it looks like it's coming down the middle I'll take a hack. I was playing against the Cards and noticed Wainwright was pretty consistently throwing a curve after going ahead 0-1 so I started loading up on it. I guess it's kind of the debate with the vision cone in Madden - do you need something in the game to simulate what you're doing anyway. The little "click" noise gives me a notification that I'm right though, which is nice.
