In the infield, which i don't think he has played this year, who do you replace? Not Theriot...What do you do with Fontenot, who (sadly) has been struggling of late with like 3 hits in the last 10 games....and I think Hoffpauir might not be too happy if he isn't given first dibs on Lee's off days.

The team is crowded, and has the kind of combination of underperformers and overexposure to make it pretty darn hard tot just bring in a guy like Fox. And, if the team that is there now doesn't click, I don't know if Fox will change much. I just hope that this team doesn't swing on Bradley...he is out of the lineup, the team does well (or well enough), he comes back, and is awful...but you know, he is just getting back in the lineup, sucks for 10 days...then what? It is a poison pill, if only because he has done so little when he is in the lineup, and could waste several months just "getting settled" or whatever, and at some point in all of this he must be benched or traded...OR he might hit...*crosses arms, taps foot, looks skeptical*
Yeah, I agree, it's way too crowded. I didn't even think about that initially. He's basically another Hoffpauir(which is not a bad thing), he can play the same positions, can rake, although the one thing is Hoffpauir has proven he can hit at the majors, while Fox hasn't(because he hasn't had the chance).

The problem with Fox is he doesn't have a position, he was drafted as a Catcher, moved to 3rd... The only realible position for him is 1B and we have two people there already.

Re: 2009 Chicago Cubs

man...if the Cubs could get their pitchers and hitters on the same clock, things might be okay. The cubs MUST win more of these games against MIL and STL; they will not win the division against Houston, the NLWest or NLEast.

Fontenot's slump couldn't have come at a worse time; and I think it is going to take a toll on this team trying to figure out how to work the Lee-Bradley-Hoffpauir ordeal if at least one of the first two doesn't show some day-in/day-out toughness and productivity. That being said, I don't think either is really that kind of player, or at least isn't now. Things have started looking up for both of them, but not enough to say there is a trend.

My biggest fear is not that either or both will tank...rather, I am more worried that the club will wait until after the break to decide.

If Peavy goes to the Soxs, man will Hendry have some explaining to do, cause Kenny Williams shouldn't be able to outmaneuvering him on a deal.

Hendry still needs to explain the off season.

We just really need Lee to go away and turn a new page. It's almost like the Cubs feel they owe him something.

Pretty sure the ownership thing is still being sorted out. The current owners didn't want to bring him in because they didn't want to increase the payroll. I'd imagine if the new owner was in charge then we would at least try to get Peavy.

Here's a link about the pending sale here:

Cubs fans, what in the world is going on with Derrek Lee? Why he's been struggling so much this year? Is he playing though injuries or something? It just seems like a mystery to me to see Lee having such a bad year after being so consistent for much of his career.

Re: 2009 Chicago Cubs

with all due respect, the Lee issue is turning around a bit, as he is hitting .239, which sadly seems fantastic, all things considered.

Bradley is the real issue, and I will say for the 14th time that this was an absolutely ********-*** move. Goddammit, get a baseball card and look at the back of it. There was no reason to believe that we couldn't get the same from either DeRosa, Hoffpauir, of Kosuke in RF. Milton Bradley would be just any other 2nd tier OFer if it wasn't for the fact that his name was mentioned so often for other reasons...and then the guy has a big year in one of the best hitter's park in the world....thanks, hendry. you stupid putz.

Our IF is a mess of ****. no one, apparently, can hit if they play 2nd or 3rd.

.265 .279 .317 .239 .184 .195 .206 .100

Ladies and gentlemen, the Batting Average of tonight's 1-8 hitters.

At what point do you say, "FIRE THE MOTHER******* HITTING COACH!!!"

How can they be swept by the Cards in StL after giving up only 8 runs in the thre contests??? BY SCORING 2 RUNS!!!!! WTF?

The pitching staff just held one of the most potent offenses in baseball to an average of 2.6 r/g, and the offense can't manage more than 2 runs over 3 games. i am not sure why the current plate approach is to fail miserably against pitchers w/o devastating velocity that throw lots of strikes.

If I wanted to beat the Cubs, I would get Doug Davis, J. Pineiro, and My Half-******** Obese Cousin. Game, Set, Match....on to NLCS.

Time is up...BRADLEY has to go...cut him, option him, push him off the bus, i don't give 2 ****s. Call Jeff Gilloolly and have him hit Bradley upside the knee with a steel pipe, and Let Hoff and Fox and Tonya Harding battle it out and get the overpaid, overhyped, never-was vets out of the way.

SIDENOTE---the most pathetic part is that the Cubs have a Top 5 Payroll....wtf....on what? holy ****....Look at other Top 5 teams and what they are paying for....but somehow not a single move for someone of the caliber of Sabathia, Lowe, Texiera, etc....but Hendry will **** his pants trying to land Soriano and Bradley. If it didn't make me want to cry, I would laugh...
