Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

I must be the minority .. I am really enjoying this demo ..

I've already learned every option in the Strategy Pad, so I do most audibles as the offense to coming up to the line .. yes a little different, but takes some getting used to (hated Auto Sprint in NCAA, but once I got the hang of it I couldn't even go back to a sprint button) ..

Love the gameflow, I'm looking forward to putting a gameplan together ..

I did notice on kick returns the returner seems to be slow, don't know why that is ..

And hoping we get Player sliders, only saw CPU ones in the demo ..

Have only played two games, one with each team .. and I can honestly say I can't wait for August 10th ..

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

at first when i started playing it I wasn't that impressed but after a couple drives I really got into it. the game really does look great, anyone who says its the same as madden 10 is blind. The audio is nice unfortunately and unsurprisingly cris collinsworth sorta kills the commentary which otherwise is pretty good, Gus's energy is a welcome addition to the game thats for sure. I made a game plan ahead of time so gameflow worked out pretty well for me and yea when wearing the headset you really do feel like ur peyton manning . and as for the strategy pad, while i understand why people dont like it. I didn't feel like it was that big of a problem just something to get used to. Loccomotion worked pretty well to overall i personally like this better than ncaa 11.

I've only played one game, but I think gameflow is kind of a waste. Maybe it's better if you spend the 2 hours gameplanning first, but out of the box it's just... not that good. I don't know, maybe the Jets really are that stupidly aggressive on defense - but when you're up 14-13 with less then 2 minutes left, blitzing Manning & leaving a WR uncovered does not seem like a good idea to me. (Final score ended up being 28-13 as my audibles to zone coverage resulted in 2 pick sixes in the last 90 seconds of the game.)

For the record, the game was nowhere near as close as the 14-13 with 2 minutes left would indicate.

The Colts scored first with a 79 yard TD pass in double coverage with a missed tackle, and had two FGs after being set up by a punt return muff and an INT where Sanchez decided to throw the ball about 5 yards over the head of the intended WR for some reason. Gotta love dice rolls I guess. My 14 points were from long sustained clock eating drives. The game glitched or something and I didn't get to view end-of-game stats, but at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Colts had 2 first downs while I had 14.

At this point, if I do buy the game it'll be strictly for coach mode.

More impressions:

1. I don't know how so many people think running is easy. With the Colts on all madden, it's hard to even get 1 yard. I usually go 5 attempts for -8 yards. Maybe I am just a horrendous runner.

2. DB's drop way too many catches, probably 5 times by each team and maybe INT 1.

3 I really like Gus enthusiasm, but the Verizon summary, is getting really annoying.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

Well,

My impressions in a nutshell is that I didn't really like it, wasn't impressed.

Someone corrected me on gameflow on being just like "ask madden" and i can appreciate the correction. I guess I'm so used to Madden that it kinda just got in my way as far as play calling goes. I did like how we still get the audio and text for the plays even when calling our own plays though.

Gameplay is just felt stale for me, same as 09 and 10.

Graphics still have that grainy grainy look on ps3. Why still so grainy? However, I noticed nice subtle touches in some of the animations, especially catching and tackling.

Im sure the full game HAS to be better than the demo, even if it just means the full incorporation of all the new audio additions.

Saw a cool tackle animation... The play action thing is only happening on the left side of the ol... I just tried slide protect, it helped a little... About a half second. This is something that could actually ruin the game for me I enjoy calling and running a lot of play fakes don'tt know why lol

I know it's the demo so I'm not concerned about crowd audio or commentary. I think they put a little in just to show us the example of Gus being in the game. IMO, he puts another level of excitement into a game that was lackluster in that dept for a loooooooooooooong time.

Alot has been said about the strategy pad. I'm not one for doing a lot of moving around. I'll blitz a LB or press every now and again but, I'm not worried about it. On O, after a couple of clicks I knew exactly were everything was. It's not that big of a deal to me. I can see how some would be upset though. It's like when Fight Night went all analog and people wanted the button controls. Hey, whatever, it's not a big deal to me.

Can't wait until the embargo is over so we can get some impressions from the retail copy and see how much different is then the demo.

To anyone on the fence. Don't read impressions. Make up your own mind and go from there. To the people not liking the game, it's the demo. To the people who like it, I'm with you 100%.

Happy gaming.
word up. game is actually pretty good . i like!!!

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

I like the gameplay, similar to NCAA.

But a few things I really hope for the retail version.....

First and foremost the audio!! I hope this isn't final. A whole lot of dry, dead, silent spots in the broadcast. Crowd noise and all.

And for me personally.... I hope I can use Gameflow for the play-calling but be able to turn off that coordinator audio as well as his text overlay. It just interrupts the broadcast to me.

Not bad as some say. But I'm still hoping the final version is better.

Still buying.
