Re: EA Boss Not Happy With Madden Sales....

Sales for sports games typically reflect the last in the series, because people don't like to get burned twice. If anything, this confirms how the Madden 06-09 iterations were killing the franchise.

Re: EA Boss Not Happy With Madden Sales....

Madden had a huge following , and when madden released in the past it just sold. Plain and simple. The last gen Madden had much more going for it than any Madden in next gen, so it sold like hot cakes.

Then came the next gen era. They changed engines and the game has been poorly built year after year. This engine is just made for eye candy. They try to code one thing and it creates bugs in another area. Its hilarious. Now more gamers are on a wait and see scenario before buying Madden. can't blame us.

Madden brought this on themselves. How can anyone be surprised, and we all wont be surprised next year when this trend will continue.

I made this prediction to Ian last August that Madden 10 wasn't going to do well. I have the link to prove it, and he even had the balls to call me out on a bet, but when I chased him down to make a bet, he never responded. I wonder why? lol

The only way Madden sales will increase is by simply changing engines. They must get rid of this Boring glitchy flawed engine , and go with Euphoria. They refuse to do this and sales will continue to fall.

THIS GAME IS GLITCHY , FLAWED, AND BORING zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZ

That is the only reason why sales are down. The economy excuse is just that a excuse that some in here want to use, but I can bet you that CEO isn't

Ps3 drops it price to $300 and now they are selling like booty at a prison camp. So lets see....people in a bad economy cant afford $60 greatest of all time football game madden 2010 BUT they can buy a $300 system ........UMMMM Nah its not the economy. Looks like a choice to me.

If a CEO is saying he aint happy with the sells then he must have expected better. Sounds like someone aint happy with the return on their investment.

It would appear that name recognition and being the only show in town does not equate to continued sells growth.

Maybe a corner has been turned and this game has not evolved enough to warrant new customers and they are losing base. 5 years of loses is not a eco problem its a product problem.

For all the talk about how much this game has improved from last year to this year, the sum of it is still less than 5 and 2 year old games despite those games shortcomings.

If its too little too late or a bright future on the horizon will be seen in next years sells I suppose.

By the way the live team looks like they got there stuff together. I think they were a bit more proactive though, they snagged a piece of the competitions team and crossed him over.

Year to year, gameplay remains essentially the same, reducing replayability. I've gone back to COD awaiting all the patches, I simply can't get the hours outa Madden that I used to, particularly before proper patching.

Re: EA Boss Not Happy With Madden Sales....

"A BIG BALL OF MUD is haphazardly structured, sprawling, sloppy, duct-tape and bailing wire, spaghetti code jungle."

From the descriptions some of the EA folks have made about fixing one thing only to cause problems somewhere else, that's exactly what they have with Madden.

That's what happens when marketing and not good software development practice drives development.

The game is pretty good and certainly Madden 2010 is better than 2008 and 2009, but it has problems that simply can't be fixed. When people try to fix it, they spend 10x as long trying because of the spaghetti.
