We all know it's a game... Some of us are just tired of paying 60 dollars for a lackluster performance and can't enjoy their football fix. Others are tired of not having a football game to enjoy because Madden is mostly the same every year. Added in a couple back of the box features and a roster update. Maybe if they showed they were actually putting a lot of effort into the game they wouldn't get bashed as much as they do.

I know that Square/Enix was disappointed with only 5mil copies of Tomb Raider sold (pre the Definitive Edition, which sold extremely well, so now they're happy), but I'd wager the investment into producing that title was a lot more than Madden. Exclusive license aside, Madden is very much copy paste and very little R&D. At least I hope they don't spend a lot on R&D with these results.

The biggest expense associated with Madden is marketing and the license.
Oh, it's still respectable numbers, but pretty disapointing since it was hyped as the big 25th anniversary and the emergance of the next gen game.

In my humble opinion, people got upset that Madden NFL 13 took away popular features and that left a bad taste for fans. While NFL brought back some features, it was still a far cry from the all-access features introduced in Madden NFL 12. I'm sure everyone has a reason for not buying Madden NFL 25. I was dead set against buying it until I found out that I could workaround the CPU vs. CPU CFM issue.

You know, repeating the same thing page after page isn't going to magically make anything better. We get it, you see no difference from last year. Move on, and we'll see you back here after you "rent it" (wink wink).

We know nothing about AI improvements (if any). Until we know that, this trailer isn't good or bad; it just is. Hopefully someone unafraid to ask real questions will be able to get their hands on it at E3. None of this "YO YO WASSUP DIS IS COACH _____ BRINGING YOU THE GREATEST MADDEN EVER COMPLETE WITH ORAL SEX SIMULATOR!" that we usually get.

exactly. I know MLB the Show is a video game but that hasn't stopped them from being ultra realistic. Madden is an arcade game. There is almost no point in talking about it anymore. This is already the 2nd game of a new gen. Can't wait to start hearing the... "well ps5 will be able to truly capture what last gen couldn't" talk...

An uncompressed video will hardly make a difference hahah. It isn't going to add unseen animations or stuff like that is it? Haha

It's also a tough comparison to make given that EA Sports shares so much tech now; how much of the cost for the development of their common toolset IGNITE goes to Madden, to FIFA, to NHL, to NBA Live, to UFC?
Also a good point, and was what I was getting at, but you fleshed it out more succinctly.

They're estimates, don't account for digital sales, and there's currently a transition to new consoles which can do a lot of odd things to sales numbers and trends. EA is also likely getting more $ per box sold than ever before thanks to Ultimate Team.

Sales are fine, and not a big enough discrepancy year to year to really debate the +/- due to vgchartz just being estimates.
