Game Notes
The New England Patriots get ready for their first home game of the season and they'll be going against the New York Giants. The Patriots struggles on defense are what the Giants have to exploit in order to win the game. That shouldn't be a problem as they currently rank third in passing offense. The question is whether or not they will be able to keep up this pace on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball with the injuries they have. Those injuries give the Patriots a chance to let their pass offense loose on Sunday.

The New England Patriots would like to have more games like this, sort of. There was a lot of good and some bad. While the bad will be overshadowed by the Patriots dominating performance against the New York Giants, the coaching staff will make sure use those moments to teach the team throughout the week. Besides, if the Patriots don't put a complete team game together soon, they'll walk away from one of these games with a loss.

Although the Giants struggled mightily on offense in the first quarter, they got some good production out of the running game.

Despite the way the game started on offense for the Patriots, it was clear that this wasn't going to be a good day for the Giants. The Patriots forced four turnovers in the first quarter and the defense kept all of the Giants' offensive drives short. Even with the outstanding effort on the defenses side, the offense was able to do little with the opportunities they had. After the first quarter, the Patriots had only a 10-0 lead. A major problem that the Patriots and the Giants had throughout the first quarter were drops. Receivers failed to make catches not only in tight coverage, but when they were wide open as well.

The Patriots defense got the game off to a great start, forcing four of the Giants six turnovers in the first quarter.

Things began to turn around for the Giants in the second quarter when Eli Manning threw two touchdown passes to Rueben Randle. The Patriots offense began to execute as well. The Patriots found the endzone twice as well, with a Stevan Ridley touchdown run and a touchdown reception by Kenbrell Thompkins. From that point on, the Patriots completely controlled the game.

The Giants made the game a competitive one in the second quarter when Eli Manning threw two touchdown passes to Rueben Randle.

The Patriots would begin the second half just like they ended the first half, with a touchdown. Josh Boyce grabbed his second of the game touchdown of the game on a two yard pass from Tom Brady. The Giants provided little resistance to the Patriots offense and there was nothing their offense could do against the Patriots' defense. Things continued to swirl out of control for the Giants when Devin McCourty returned an interception for a touchdown. After that, the Patriots would score 10 more points, adding even more to the Giants suffering.

The Patriots put together a spectacular second half at the expense of the Giants. Devin McCourty returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter and rookie tight end Emmanuel Quick caught the first touchdown pass of his career in the fourth.

Like the first two games this season, the Patriots will walk away from this game feeling good, but realizing that there is a lot they need to work on. Once again, they'll head into the week with plenty of material for to use in order to better themselves before they face the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately, they'll have to play the next game without starting linebacker Jerod Mayo. Mayo suffered what looks like a season ending injury in the game. More news to come on this later.

Game Ball/Extra Reps

Game Ball
Tom Brady: Even though Brady completed only 48% of his passes, it wasn't entirely his fault. He still had four touchdown throws.

Stevan Ridley: Ridley rushes for a career high 192 yards and keeps the offense afloat when it struggled.

Shane Vereen: While he wasn't as productive on the ground, his production in the passing game made up for the drops the receivers had early on.

Chandler Jones: Jones usually shows up against the run, but looked good rushing the passer, recording two sacks in the game.

Extra Reps
Wide Receivers: While Josh Boyce and Kenbrell Thomkins put up some good numbers, there were just too many drops in the game. Aaron Dobson drops the only two passes that come his way in the game.

Media Reaction
Trey Wingo - @WingozEA: Tom Brady reached a major milestone this week -- a 50,000 passing yard milestone to be exact.
Susannah Colllins - @SCollinsEA: Jeez I guess no mercy from the Patriots this week, huh?
Susannah Collins - @SCollinsEA: Did you see Tom Brady's last TD strike? In a ZONE!!!

Re: Whatever Happened to the Patriot Way - A Madden NFL 25 New England Patriots CFM

After three weeks of football, there are teams that are still yet to win a game, and teams that are yet to lose a game. Falling to a 0-4 hole after the first quarter of the season won't make getting through the rest of the year any easier. The margin for error becomes much smaller. Only five teams have made the playoffs after an 0-3 start. For the teams still seeking their first win of the year, there's no time like the present.

For a team that has been known for it's defense, the Pittsburgh Steelers haven't been playing much of it this season. On Sunday, they'll take their 28th ranked defense to M&T Bank Stadium to play the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers' offense hasn't been much help either. A rivalry game has a way of bringing out the best in a team. The Steelers will need to tap into that if they hope to beat the Ravens on Sunday.

If there were a time to take advantage of the Atlanta Falcons, it would be now. They've managed to go 3-0 without receiver Roddy White, but Julio Jones is now set to miss the next few games. Something else that is impressive about the Falcons' start is that Steven Jackson missed the first two games. Does that make the Falcons a gritty team or an overachieving team? The Detroit Lions head coach Demetrius Turner hopes that it's the latter. Will Reggie Bush, Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford be enough to end the Falcons' winning streak? With the Falcons missing their top two receivers, along with two starting offensive linemen, the Lions think that this may be the perfect time to do so.

Week 4 Schedule

Re: Whatever Happened to the Patriot Way - A Madden NFL 25 New England Patriots CFM

New England Patriots Scouting Report

The New England Patriots continue their scouting spree by looking at some running backs this week. It appears that there could be a lot of change in store for the Patriots on offense. Even more than they had in the 2013 offseason. Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden are all in the final year of their contracts. If push comes to shove and the Patriots lose all three backs, is a rookie the way to go? The team is hoping it doesn't get that far. In case they do need to draft a running back when the 2015 NFL Draft comes around, there are some good prospects available.

Media Reaction
Susannah Collins - @SCollinsEA: You SEE that!? Tell me you saw that! DT Stacy Nicholas just rammed his way through to block that FG and win the game.
Trey Wingo - @WingozEA: Ole Miss might be on a losing streak, but no one's blaming the defense. DE Malaki Paris is still a standout.
