Re: Getback: The Redskins Dynasty

Tryon to sit 3 weeks with broken ribs

LANDOVER, M.D--

Redskins starting cornerback Justin Tryon suffered broken ribs last Sunday in the 1st quarter of the victory over the Eagles.

Tryon as rolling on the snow covered field in what appeared to be violent pain as he pointed at his rib cage. Team doctors have said that the seriousness of Justin's injury is high & he is expected to be out for at least three weeks.

This will rule him out for the season finale against Carolina & the 'Skins first playoff game. He is expected to be able to suit up if Washington makes it to the NFC Championship game however.

2011 Season Week 17

'SKINS ERASE 28 POINT DEFICIT TO CLINCH #1 SEED IN NFC PLAYOFFS

At first, it looked like the makings of one of the worst losses in Redskins history. Then Cam Newton, the explosive rookie that’s surpassed all expectations does it again. Washington defeats Carolina 51-48 in one of the highest scoring games in NFL history. Newton threw 4 touchdown passes & nearly 500 yards to erase a 28 point Panthers halftime lead. Leading to the biggest comeback in ’Skins history & Newton’s first ever 4th quarter comeback in his career. The victory clinches home field advantage throughout the playoffs for the Redskins.

The first half seemed to have shown the worst that the Redskins had to offer. It looked like the Steve Smith show in FedEx Field with the Panthers first two drives resulting in Jimmy Clausen TD passes to Smith. A Cam Newton interception caught by rookie Safety Mark Barron was returned for a TD & Carolina quickly was ahead 21-0 within the first 3 ½ minutes of the game. Newton tried to create a spark with his TD pass to Chris Cooley to end the 1st quarter. A Graham Gano field goal put them down by two scores until the Panthers responded with 17 unanswered points to end the first half.

During halftime there was a question of if the Redskins should continue to fight with their starters for home field or cut their losses, rest the starters & prepare to host the Wild Card game next weekend. Every starter returned in the 3rd quarter & Cam Newton proceeded to amaze. The 43 yard bomb to Malcolm Kelly for a TD (along with Kelly breaking three tackles on the way to the end zone) was the spark the ’Skins needed. After a Panthers field goal Washington went on to score 27 straight points including two Newton TD passes to Ryan Broyles, & the big fumble return during a kickoff by Fred Davis which gave Washington the lead. Soon after the Redskins took the lead DeAngelo Williams scored once again on a big run to put the Panthers within a field goal with less than 3 minutes left. The ’Skins then put the game in the hands of Larry Johnson & he didn’t disappoint. A 12 yard burst on 3rd down with less than 1 minute left secured the comeback victory & the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs. The ’Skins broke plenty of records, excelled beyond expectations, & gave the fans reason to stick around after 20 years of broken hearts & promises. They get a much needed rest next weekend & will have their first home playoff game in 12 years in two weeks.
