Yeah...don't think I'd put "The Happening" or "Quarantine" up there as overrated movies, mainly because I didn't know they were rated highly.

Re: Your Most Overrated. Movie. Ever.

Peter Jackson's King Kong. Way too long winded, really bad acting by most of the actors, side plots that went nowhere, many laughable CGI scenes and the only movie that bored me because there was too much mindless action on the island. Kong fighting TRex's for 20 minutes is a little overdoing it and it was almost as long as Kong with the airplanes. How long does it take to shoot a big ape? Almost as bad as the endless finales on Return of the King.

Most moviegoers seem to agree as it performed way under expectations at the box office but critics still had the LOTR (another incredibly overrated homoerotic trilogy) erections so they praised the movie as the best adventure ever when it was a colossal bore and tried to make excuses why no one wanted to see it in the theater. I've never wanted a movie to end so much watching it. It was 3 hours but felt like 30.

The funny part is I think the best part of the movie was a part they ended up cutting out. The extended scene on the DVD with the water monster in the swamp was actually pretty cool and suspenseful and they should of kept that in and cut that goofy brontosaurus scene.

Napoleon Dynamite

I got this used at Blockbuster because everyone was like "ZOMG this is the best movie ever", and when I watched it I was like "eh, it's kinda funny at times"...Definitely not something I'd want to watch over and over, that's for sure. I guess with the hype I expected better.

Superbad was hyped and well worth it, so I know some movies can live up to the hype.

Re: Your Most Overrated. Movie. Ever.

I had completely forgotten about King Kong. Very good choice.

Napoleon Dynamite is another good choice.

Both great examples imo.

Do you guys think the Kill Bill movies lived up to the hype? After Reservoir Dogs and Pulp fiction anthing Tarantino did deserved considerable hype but i can't help thinking Kill Bill fell a bit short. I did enjoy them though....

Napoleon Dynamite depresses me for some reason. Maybe its the music or the characters I don't know but when I watch it, I get depressed. I usually don't watch it past the first 20 minutes or so.
