I would also suggest that you turn off the cpu strategies, as they tend to play too much to a box. They are much more organic with it off. The only down side to turning it off is that they never pull their goalie late in games. But, that is not a big deal, since it usually means they get scored on when they do pull him.
great point about the goalie being pulled for the cpu. i think when they score late to tie games on me, its prior to him even leaving the ice with 40 seconds left.

how do I get it more intense

I play on the hardest level & settings, etc. What are some ways I can make it harder... I noticed you have player acceleration @ 4/6, I think that would help but what other settings could I adjust to get it even harder for me. Thanks.

I ve tried the custom ai settings, I think Im doing it right... it just doesnt seem like other teams are clogging up neutral zone, etc. I can just fly up and down the boards all the time...

I have the settings pretty good, but want it to harder, without turning up comp. shot acc. so they dont score 6 goals... to make it harder. I want the play,, skating, checking, etc to be more wicked but not the comp. passing... I dont want harlem globers, but want that playoff intense fast pace type stuff...

Thanks
I ll post my settings tomorrow, so you can see what I ve been using...

to make the game better/harder/playoff fast pace

Thanks for your help. I listed the ones that I would try (Ive tinkered for awhile when game came out & got it just right, but looking for more intenseity).

Not looking for rediculous poke/lift stick, etc. I want more intensity, playoff fast pace (hence gamespeed@3), the cpu players to play positions better..., cpu teams should score more (not agaisnt me but in team gf...)(scores of my games are good, some 1-0 & nothing higher the 5, except for that rare 7-2 blowout)

Ive tried custom ai, but I dont know if I did it right... Would like cpu players to be smarter, at least positionly...

I would drop the cpu strategy adjustment slider to zero, as they tend to play in a box or stricter to the set play when set higher. This helps them be a little more organic.

To use the custom Ai, you can only use it in Season mode or Play Now. FOr BeAGm you can only load your clubs Ai, that defeats the purpose of it. In Season mode you need to make all the clubs human controlled and then before each game load the Ai for both sides and then move your controller to your team and play.

One other fine nugget came from Fiddy, that is setting the cpu aid to casual. It made the rest of the Ai play like hockey players, they back up each other and make better decisions.

Maybe try lowering your acceleration slider, just one or two notches. That will have the Ai on top of you a little quicker and give you less time and space.

The game is still far from perfect, but I am getting some good results.

Hope this helps a little bit

hard

Yea, thanks. I already been trying the gamespeed down to 2 and its making the skating moar wicked & has made things overall more even (games are closer overall).

I ll try the cpu adj down to 0.
I have had the cpu aid on casual.

I still dont understand the custom ai thing. I tried that last fall but didnt work or I was doing something wrong. I did have all teams human control before season started & did every teams strategies set the same for 4lines & 3pairs and left the team strategys the way they were... manually.

is that the same thing as just doing one in then saving it (like you said) before every game.

One of the guys whos posted alot of good setting has efficiency vs energy all towards efficiency. Does that help cpu play smarter & better, just not as much energy/intense. Then by putting acceleration down to 4 offset that & presto you have a better balance?

We all need to keep at it, because every little tweak (that makes it better) we all do just keeps making this game even more wicked. Nothings perfect, just moar wicked.
